Exclusive: David Walliams’ lawsuit against the producer of Britain’s Got Talent has detailed work, including a Channel 4 show, he claims to have lost after his derogatory remarks about contestants were leaked to the press.
Walliams is suing Fremantle for allegedly breaking data protection laws and breaching his privacy after The Guardian published what he argues were private remarks about people auditioning for Britain’s Got Talent.
The Guardian saw a transcript of comments made by Walliams in 2020. The newspaper said he made the remarks while sitting at the Britain’s Got Talent judges’ table and they included him referring to a pensioner as a “c***.”
In a High Court legal filing seen by Deadline, Walliams claimed that his “reputation and earnings have been severely damaged” as a result of The Guardian’s story.

Former “Britain’s Got Talent” judge David Walliams has filed a lawsuit against Fremantle, the show’s producer, after departing from the series last year amid controversy.
The suit, filed last week, is classified as dealing with data protection, according to the BBC. No further details have been revealed at this time.
The filing comes months after the longtime judge for the ITV show, who has also risen to prominence as an actor, comedian and author, exited the show last November when the Guardian reported that Walliams had made sexually explicit remarks about two contestants, according to a leaked transcript.
The recordings trace back to 2020 taping, during which Walliams allegedly calls one contestant a “c–t” and while referring to another by saying, “she thinks you want to f–k her, but you don’t.”
Following the leak, Walliams apologized for his “disrespectful comments” in a statement, saying “I would like...

Christmas isn't far around the corner, and BBC One has announced an adaptation of David Walliams' Billionaire Boy as part of its festive season schedule.
Walliams himself will star in the dramatisation of his 2010 children's book, which tells the story of wealthy 12-year-old Joe, who's on a quest to find something money can't buy – friendship.
The Little Britain star will play the 'dirty and old' dinnerlady Mrs Trafe on the show.
John Thomson, Rebecca Front and Warwick Davis will also star alongside Walliams, while protagonist Joe will be played by newcomer Elliot Sprakes.
Walliams said: "I am thrilled we have put together another all-star cast of comedy greats for this adaptation.
"The script is bigger and better than the book, and I am excited for everyone to see it on BBC One at Christmas."

Top Gear and EastEnders topped the BBC iPlayer request charts over Christmas.
A record-breaking 227 million iPlayer requests were made over the period - not including those accessed via Sky or Virgin Cable - marking a 25% increase on December 2013.
"Because linear TV dominates over Christmas, it was mobiles and tablets which drove the greatest increase in BBC iPlayer usage, both delivering more requests than computers over Christmas week," said head of TV content for BBC iPlayer Victoria Jaye in a blog post.
"Tablets really dominated during Christmas week, with requests rising +31% week-on-week. As usual, we saw a spike in app downloads (150,000) on Christmas Day, as new gadgets were tried out."
The top 20 for BBC iPlayer requests over Christmas week was as follows:
1. Top Gear Patagonia Special, Part 1 - 2,078,700
2. EastEnders 25/12/2014 - 1,689,400
3. Top Gear Patagonia Special, Part 2 1,553,700

One-off Christmas episode on BBC1 starring David Jason as Granville attracts a peak audience of 10 million
The return of Sir David Jason as grocery shop worker Granville in a one-off Christmas special of Open All Hours was the most popular programme on Boxing Day, attracting a peak audience of 10 million.
The success of Still Open All Hours, which aired nearly 30 years after the last episode of the original Ronnie Barker sitcom, meant BBC1 scooped the Christmas honours, airing the most popular shows on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
The comedy, which sees Granville and his son inherit the business from the late Barker's domineering shop owner Albert Arkwright, managed an average audience of 9.4 million and a 35.5% share of all TV viewing between 7.45pm and 8.15pm. The show's peak audience briefly touched 10 million.

Patrick checks out heart-warming, rollicking family drama, Gangsta Granny...
This review contains spoilers.
In some curious and forgettable circumstances I found myself reading Gangsta Granny to one of my younger relatives a couple of years ago. Hailing from the David Walliams stable it was expected to be ripe with gags and puns about the modern world but behind the humour there was a moral tale about people’s neglect of the elderly. At Christmas time it seems ideal fare for families grazing round the TV for feel-good laughs and a life lesson, so unsurprisingly the BBC nabbed the rights and set about adapting it. Written by Kevin Cecil and Andy Riley (two of the penmen behind Gnomeo and Juliet. The one with Jason Statham as a garden ornament. Yeah, that one) with more than a little help from Walliams himself Gangsta Granny has been...

There's a selection of new drama, comedy and a few other bits and pieces you may wish to circle in your festive TV listings magazine... Merry Christmas.

BBC One has released a first-look image of David Jason reprising his Open All Hours role.
The 73-year-old will return to the role of Granville for Still Open All Hours, a revival of the classic sitcom which first aired on BBC Two between 1973 and 1985.
In the Christmas special, viewers will meet an older Granville, who has inherited the grocer's shop from his late Uncle Arkwright, originally played by Ronnie Barker.
He now runs the business with his son Leroy (James Baxter), a cheerful and good-looking lad who attracts many female admirers.
Still Open All Hours - which will also star Lynda Barron and Stephanie Cole - has been written by original series creator Roy Clarke.
"This has been fun - a great opportunity to work with David Jason again and to suggest how things at that corner shop might look today," said Clarke.

An adaptation of Walliams's best-selling book of the same name, the show will air on BBC One over the festive period.

Gangsta Granny follows the story of Ben (Reece Buttery), who is bored staying with his granny (McKenzie) until it is revealed that she used to be an international jewel thief.
"Gangsta Granny has proved to be the most popular of all my books," said Walliams. "It is an adventure story about two unlikely thieves, Granny and her grandson Ben. It should make for exciting family viewing at Christmas."
BBC Comedy boss Shane Allen added: "The story delivers on David's penchant for being outrageously funny, yet poignant and tender as well. This will be a wonderful family...

David Walliams has revealed that he would like to try Strictly Come Dancing in the future.
The Britain's Got Talent judge revealed that he has been taking dance lessons with Miranda Hart for his upcoming Christmas TV film Gangsta Granny.
The pair play a Strictly-obsessed couple in the BBC One adaptation of his children's book, and he said he may give the real show a go "one day".
Speaking to Radio Times, Walliams said: "I think it's the one show that would be fun to do. You don't have to eat kangaroo testicles at any point - unless, of course, you want to.
"And there's no humiliation involved. You can be rubbish at it but the public can still like you and find you entertaining. So maybe one day."
Talking about his dance lessons, he added: "We got a bit carried away, and started asking the producer who was better.
