Music City and points south are hot tonight.
We pick up right where we left off, with Olivia Wentworth planting one on Juliette. According to Olivia, hubby Charlie might just enjoy watching them get it on. Juliette is not having it and kicks her out.
She confides in Avery what happened and he tells her not to let them have all the power. So she fires up her private jet and heads to Dallas where she tells them they are sick, narcissistic perverts. Olivia then mocks her trailer park upbringing to which she replies she'd rather be who she is then who they are.
That is not the end of it, however, when Charlie shows up at her door and pleads his case and says that he's falling in love with her. Juliette is taken aback.
Meanwhile, Gunnar and Scarlett are adjusting to life on the road as they head to Tampa with Luke Wheeler for a stadium gig.
Gunnar is learning what it means to co-write with a big star like Luke Wheeler, which basically means playing songs he wrote for Luke and Luke telling him to make them catchier and sound more like one of his songs.
Scarlett is learning that rowdy country fans like to throw things when you go onstage acting timid. It did not help that Jeff Fordham got in her head right before she went on and undermined her confidence. As she's quivering in the spotlight, Rayna comes out to literally hold her hand. She tells the audience to give her a chance and she dos a little better.
She is devastated when she comes off, however, and shuns all those who would try to make her feel better including the visiting Deacon-- who brought her favorite pillow-- and Gunnar. Deacon tells Rayna he doesn't think that Scarlett can hack the road. But Rayna says she's stronger than he thinks and she will get better. She gives Scarlett a pep talk and tells her not to let the bullies get her down. On the second night she comes out a new woman and commands the crowd. Deacon admits Rayna was right. Later, however, even after her triumph, Scarlett calls someone-- Avery? Zoey?-- and leaves a message saying she doesn't think she can hack it and that she loves "you."
Scarlett also lends Gunnar a hand with a song he's working on for Luke. He's playing down by the hotel pool. She offers him a key line and they sing together, which catches the attention of Luke and Rayna, who are in flagrante delicto in a room above. Luke overhears it, likes it and has Gunnar play it for everyone on the second night. Luke congratulates him on his first hit "co-write." Rayna, jokingly but pointedly, says "co-write"? with raised eyebrows and Luke says he was kidding and of course Gunnar deserves sole songwriting credit. Rayna notes it worked so well with Scarlett and Gunnar that it should be a duet and she sings it with him that night onstage to a rousing ovation. During the performance, at the side of the stage, Gunnar asks Jeff Fordham about the showcase and Fordham says he's a man of his word.
Jeff Fordham smells a hit, which is a good thing. Because before Rayna left for Tampa he had the police show up and seize the masters for her new album that she had been keeping from him. He says he's ready to release it whether she is or not and shows her some awful artwork-- featuring Rayna rising from the ashes with wings of fire-- to capitalize on her accident. She is, understandably, angry with him. But she gets an idea. Once she and Luke sing the song, she offers to let him release it as a digital single immediately, in exchange for her masters back. He agrees.
Meanwhile, Peggy has been putting off Teddy coming to the doctor with her. She relents and makes up an appointment. She then buys a tub of "pork blood" and fakes a miscarriage. Teddy comforts her. She notes he only married her because of the baby but he says that's not the case.
