Pleasant, amusing, low key road trip movie, with fine acting.

Let's Go Fly a Kite

Warning: Spoilers
I was listening to The Cure while watching this film. Probably should've been paying more attention but I think I can do more than one thing at a time. Seemed like a road-trip type film. Penny (Astra McLaren) is a model/actress, or something and she's with some girl with a weird costume/mask on; I never really caught her name. It could be Alex (Toni Garson) but not sure. As stated: I was listening to The Cure while watching this. Well, anyway...they meet up with Guy (Anton Tennent) and he emphasis his name is pronounced (Gee), like the French but he's not French and apparently he likes to stop and climb trees.

I did laugh a few times. With such a cliché premise, I didn't think I was going to. Is it wrong of me to like the film when I really didn't get it? I mean, I get the premise and plot but the silly antics that didn't really mean anything to the overall story...I mean, sure, it could have signified a 'let loose' mentality or being patient is more cause than rushing things or something but still...

While the ending wasn't dramatic in the pure sense of the word it was a little more so than the rest of the film. I guess all the fun and games have to come to an end at some point and lessons need to be learned etc., etc., Not how I live my life but movies aren't reality, N'est-ce pas? Of course, the lessons learned are by the viewers: the characters in this film learn nothing, except maybe Penny.

This is AWFUL.

This had a high rating and I failed to see through it (that early-days-Indie-film rating that's all friends, family, and investors) and was thus surprised by the low production values and crap acting. Not a good surprise. Very flimsy.
