Could Not Care Less About Jadis
MamadNobari9725 March 2024
First of all, the melodrama and the romance in this show are becoming way too goofy and bordering on being a soap opera. The last episode was the best episode, and I assume the finale won't top that either. But that episode knew how to do romance without it being goofy and cringey. This episode however, I don't know, I feel like it's too much.

Now the main focus of this episode is Jadis and the writers try their hardest to make us care about her and have sympathy for her. My question is, does anyone actually care though? As far as I remember, Jadis has been an obnoxious character with a bad haircut, and no amount of flashbacks, exposition, and sad music can make me feel sad for this character. Now some people might actually care now that they did some flashbacks in this episode, and with her speeches. But I would be shocked if anyone even thought her arc would go like this and even cared about her before this episode.

Not that focusing the episode on her was bad or wrong or anything that I gave a lower rating, I'll get into that later. I'm just not sure why the writers decided to do this. Though I understand that it's nice to have a villain with good motivation who thinks is doing the right thing. But the thing is, that she knew every step of the way that she wasn't really on the righteous side or doing a moral thing.

Nevertheless, I don't really have a problem with the writers trying to humanize her and give her some time to shine since she's one of the really old characters from the main show. I just think they went overboard with all the "And then she tells a sad story and we play sad music over it". The flashbacks with the you know who character (trying not to spoil) also did nothing for me. My opinion about Jadis is the same after watching this episode as it was before it, the only that changed was "Oh, I guess now we know why she did what she did."

I understand what they tried to do with this episode. Some shows do this where they dedicate an episode to someone you (most of the time) hated, and show you the other side of that character and show how tragic their past was and you change your mind about them, and it's kind of a nice twist where a hated character becomes tragic and beloved. This was not it. The last episode was phenomenally written. Everything worked perfectly and you actually cared about everything that happened there and the romance worked. This episode? Not so much.

Apart from that, like I said, the last episode did a good job of the romance stuff. But this episode just made the romance so goofy and over the top and unrealistic. It's like I'm not even watching a zombie show anymore.

All that aside, my biggest problem is that we're basically 80% or something in, and we still don't know about the CRM, and Beale hasn't had a proper characterization other than a cliché one-dimensional military general character. They're supposed to be the big baddie of this show, and we're already gonna wrap their story up in just one episode when we haven't even seen anything of them yet? Thorne's character is also underdeveloped and I'm actually not sure how they're gonna pull off this story if not by rushing everything in the last episode just like every other 6-episode mini-series we've had in the past couple of years from Disney Plus for example.

It doesn't feel like there's only one episode left. With the way the story moves, it feels like it's at least an 8-episode show and we still have 3 more episodes left. The pacing of the story in the first 3 episodes felt like your regular 16-episode season of The Walking Dead. So I'm not really sure how they're gonna wrap up a story that's only begun in just one episode with no other seasons.

Also, this episode felt like it had a lesser budget because of the tight locations they had, not much CGI, and not too many characters. I guess they blew all the budget on those helicopter shots and CGI stuff from the first 3 episodes. Not that I'm complaining though or that the episode looked bad, it's just an observation.

So overall this episode is not bad in any way, but still not on par with the writing of the previous episode, and I'm not sure how this story is gonna be wrapped. Hopefully not rushed and disappointing.

A depressing episode but a good one.
awesometrey-4870724 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was really good and the tone is significantly lighter than last week's Emmy deserving emotional performance. But that doesn't mean there's no angst at all. Everything was for nought. Rick has to go back to the CRM and even Michonne sees that now. The ending of this episode was a guy punch. As alongside Michonne. The audience has no truly accepted that there is no escape for the living. If Rick wants to keep his family safe. He has to go the CRM. And bring it down from within. It's implied Michonne might stick with him but Im not sure if that's gonna happen. It's best if Judith and RJ have one parent in their life if Rick fails after all. In the end I see this show ending where it began. Presumably to pick up in a future spinoff where we'll see Rick take down the CRM from within.

I don't know what to think about this episode.
TheWalkingUnknown24 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know what to think about this episode. In the beginning, I was very excited about Gabriel's appearance, and in fact that was the most exciting moment for me. I liked this episode, but probably least of all. I guessed that this was going to be an episode focused on Jadis, and I have no problem with that happening and with the fact that Gabriel was only there (for the time being) to complement her character. I have two main problems with this episode. The first is that the two scenes where Jadis "almost had them" looked like a stretch, as if she subconsciously didn't want to kill them at all, and that's how I explain it to myself after her last speech, but otherwise it looks weird. My other problem with this episode is that I think there were two or three times when Andrew uttered his dialogue lines that I felt like something wasn't right there. And I don't know if it's a problem with me, with the script, or... and I don't believe what I'm writing... with Lincoln's acting, after the last episode he seemed to be in kind of worse shape here, or am I the only one with this feeling? The previous episode was weird, but in a good way. This one was good, but wierd in I don't know what sense, I don't know what to think... 8.6/10.

Looked like a parody
cabof8528 March 2024
It's the first time I am revewing not even a movie, but an episode.

So, you create a 6 episode series and one of them looks like a bottle episode? Why even create them? You had all these years and it looks like a parody or a b-movie.

You also make Rick look so weak and like a side character which is really frustrating. Apart from the hand scene, he does nothing at all and can't take a decision. So what are these series really about??

Nobody cared or cares about Jadis, but almost the whole episode is about her and recycling the same things.

Rick and Michonne dodging bullets, Rick with one arm under a heavy double bed being able to push it like Hulk. I rewinded this scene over 5 times because I couldnt believe what I was watching.

And then again you have stupid flashbacks and useless conversations looking like a soap opera

And Jadis simply found them like they had a GPS tracker on them.

I dont think I will even watch the last episode, the trailer was enough. Break into the fort stealthy to steal a file? What is this, a GTA side mission??

This is not what Rick deserved.

Impactful and solid
tristan_1924 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Wow. This almost felt like going back to the OG Walking Dead's roots. Just two great characters surviving in a cabin and meeting characters in the woods, while there's a big threat overshadowing it all. Father Gabriel was a fantastic surprise, and was implemented into the plot in a meaningful fashion, as it was meant to develop Anne's story. I don't know man, this episode was low key really sad, and the fact I cared as much for Anne at the end is a testament of the great vision the writers had for this episode in particular. It felt rewarding at times, more desperate at others. Relentless episode and super engaging from start to finish. I can't wait to see where it all leads !

Rick and Michonne Back on Path
mevicadem24 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Another great episode of 'TOWL'! It was refreshing to see Rick and Michonne back on the path, which brought back fond memories from earlier seasons. The dynamic of meeting new characters and imparting lessons was entertaining, though I wished for more depth in that aspect. My heart went out to Jadis, or should I say Anne, by the end. Her transformation was poignant. As for Gabriel's storyline, while it had its moments, I found myself wanting more. Overall, a solid installment with plenty of intrigue and character development.......

Another 10/10. Can't believe that only one episode is left...

Freaking awesome episode probably my favorite of the series.
magnusthegamer24 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 5, "Become," didn't unfold as I had anticipated. Personally, I loved this episode. It was great to see some old characters back on the screen. Gabriel was awesome to see back in the series; he's such an interesting character. I didn't expect them to take Jadis's character in the direction they did. She was a fantastic villain, one of the best we've seen in years. The action was fun and exciting as always, and the humor was hilarious. Additionally, the episode had some really great callbacks to some of the older seasons of TWD. I'm so excited to see what they're going to do with the last episode and how it's going to carry into the other spinoffs.

Uneven, But Still the Best Walking Dead Spin Off
kljwriter24 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Imperfect, but still stacks up to the main show and other spin-offs. The narrative has been very tight so far. Action packed. When it needed to, it slowed down and gaves us character development. It filled in gaps. And it's been, surprisingly unpredictable. There are plenty of walkers and walker killing. But the love story is central to the plot, and I appreciate that. It needed to have a different hook/theme to stand out from other TWD offerings and the main show. So I love it. I'm glad Andrew and Danai were involved with the production and creative behind the series, otherwise it may have been very uneven and less satisfying. I'm pretty happy with it so far. Episode 5 was the weakest link in the chain, but it did humanize Jadis, who turned out to be a pretty fantastic villain. We'll see what the last episode brings.

Rick's back
icva7025 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I loved the episode very much. I felt happy that Rick and Michonne were with each other again, and it was also nice that they killed her, the CRM officer, but what bothers me is that Rick and Michonne come back there to destroy the files. It will be an annoying episode for me, and I think there is a second season. Really, after thinking about that, it cannot be done. Everything is in episode 6, and I hope that Rick and Michonne will reunite with the family and have a happy ending. I heard news that it will be a sad ending for the series. If anyone has to be killed, I am sorry. I want Michonne to die. It would be foolish to kill Rick after losing him for 8 years and his return so late.

Become...
RSO_Media25 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I really liked this episode. Centering around Jadis and culminating in her death I think they did a good job of giving her her due, even bringing back Gabriel, and exploring different aspects of her, and fleshing her out. She's always been such an enigmatic character, and honestly I've always been a little bit amused by what's been established of her character up 'till this episode; She ran an art commune of apocalypse-survivors in a junkyard and even pretended to develop a deviant language for her new civilization, but her role as leader was also a cover, because she was secretly working for the CRM the whole time... She's easily the most implausible character in the entire run of the show, but Pollyanna McIntosh always made her interesting to watch, and she was the highlight of the 'Worlds Beyond' spin-off.

This specific episode goes a long way to humanizing her and establishing her motivations (and also moving the story forward), and I was moved by her final moments... She was nothing if not unique. On a side note, I still don't know if the junkyard people knew she was an operative for the CRM, or if she was planning to bring them to the Civic Republic as B's. I guess some mysteries will never be solved.

Another pointless episode.

The story went absolutely nowhere. Once again, MASSIVE plot holes. An endless number of contradictions. I really don't understand where this series is going.

Episodes 4 & 5 were needless at this point save for the death of 1 character, which in true & typical TWD form, was stretched out to an entire episodes worth of pointless storytelling and unnecessary (and confusing) backstory.

I'm so sick and tired of this formula..here we are building up to the big reveal, the big finale at the end, wherein no questions will be fully answered and likely even more confusion afoot.

While this episode was shot like an atypical Walking Dead episode, the entire time in the forefront of my mind is the absolute knowledge that this is another sham episode, which it absolutely was.

In true fashion, I wont give any spoilers. But this is getting beyond ridiculous at this point. I'll save the real critique for the series review.

Entertainment Value 6.5/10 Overall Rating 6/10

Its the same thing we have seen literally a dozen times over. Probably a lot more. I'd fire half the production team, srarting with Bert & Bertie.

Everything to this point is some feminist agenda. Anyone who can't see this, watching every episode so far, you are either too deaf, dumb & blind or too jaded to all the BS in hollywood today.

I don't 'fear the walking dead', i fear the team responsible for that abomination is going to be responsible for the final episode here.

That should be enough to terrify anyone.

A quieter one, but would still rank it high.
kxhzrqs24 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was quiet, but still full of edge of seat moments. Seth Gilliam was a nice, nostalgic breath of fresh air. I halfway thought we would see Aaron (Ross Marquand) in the last moments of the show, but this was spot on considering Gabriel's history with Anne/Jadis. This was a nice conclusion to a complex and interesting character. Well written and impeccably acted. Bravo Pollyanna McIntosh.

I didn't like this episode as much as the previous ones, but I would still rate a high 8.5/10. The 3 travelers in the woods that tried to hold them up, took it down a bit for me. They felt stuck in the middle of a story, and kinda out of no where. In the end they served a purpose, all be it a sad one.

Bye bye Jadis
yahaira-729-69470125 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Another bad character hits the dust. For all of her double crossing Rick and Michone and the people of Akexandria her death is a deserving natural justice. Rick and Gabriel gave her a choice to believe in their community and to become a better person but she rather traded him in to be part of the CRM utopia a global security military force. The lesson that fascism does not work on humans because of free will which Michone reminds Rick that there is a better path in love and community based on choices. I'm glad to see Jardis gone I didn't care for this character just another bad player in the apocalypse. Cheers to Rick and Michone defeating this jaded player.

can we please get realistic ratings to this ?
filmfreak_london25 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Holy smokes. I am really exhausted and devastated by how terrible this whole thing is. We wait 6 years for a Rick Grimes come back and one of the main things of that 6 episode nonsense is a standoff between Jadis and Rick. With my all due respect to the actors, including Seth Gilliam. But who cares ? At no point Jadis was ever an interesting nor important character to anyone. Recycling some old characters and put on some of those conflicts they base this show on is something that could have been written by either 10 year olds or AI. This reminded me of when Jimmy Fallon invites people and they read scripts that were written by 10 year olds. The whole thing stinks. The last episode will be about getting a "dossier" to destroy it, because for some reason someone cares what's in there ?! What does it say ? Rick Grimes was a guy who someday was somewhere else with people and sometimes they fought people. Like literally everyone else probably did. What the hell. Really. I am lost for words. The seasons finale and the big comeback is like a side quest from some cheap video game. How lazy can this be ? They drove by car and end up in some cabin and for some reason Jadis, by foot, finds them. Despite the overall thing being terrible, this also makes no sense. Who ever is responsible for this should instantly retire.

Apocalyptic Honeymoon
wrka-195-29992824 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
An apocalyptic honeymoon is what Scott Gimple has transformed into Rick story, disappointing and frustrating.

Jadis/Anne had to be taken out of the equation, of course, Pollyanna Mcintosh gave her best performance of the character, the best of the episode. Anne's death seems to me ungrateful in many aspects, it would have been better to use this character in a ambiguous alliance with Rick and Michonne, but with the lack of enemies it was obvious that Jadis should be the antagonist.

There's not much more to add in this episode, because nothing relevant happens apart from Jadis' death...ahh wait?? The cameo of Seth Gilliam (Gabriel) was exciting for a moment, since his presence has no purpose nor does it affect the future of the plot, Gabriel doesn't find out that Rick hasn't died, nor he doesn't find out about the organization in which Jadis belongs, Gimple constantly avoids delivering these connections to drag out this story as long as he can, that is tiring and frustrating me, every time this showrunner has the opportunity to give significant progress to this franchise he avoids it, how much longer will Gimple continue to milk this franchise?, until turning TWD into something cheesy.

I could bet that next week this spinoff will end in a big cliffhanger, how do I know? Because it's simple, Gimple being Gimple, when creativity is lacking this is how he end his stories and he uses this tool every time he can.

I'll say it again, Rick deserved a better story.

1/10.

S1.E5 - Beautiful episode, i dont understand all the bad reviews [9/10]
panagiotis199316 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
(S1. E5) My Live Reaction / Review for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Season 1 Episode 5 ''Become''. The previous episode was good and I gave it a rating of 8/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Gabriel? Really? That's so cool. I really hope that the CRM wont find Rick and Michonne. Michonne and Rick shared food with these people and they threatened to kill them? They suck. Jadis found them? But how? Jadis vs Rick and Michonne? Let's go! I hope they will kill her. The situation seems complicated, Michonne wants to kill Jadis but if Jadis gets killed her secret files about Alexandria could mean that all the people that Rick and Michonne care about will die. So is Rick going back to the CRM? That sucks. The walkers bit Jadis, that was so satisfying. So Rick and Michonne have to go back to destroy Jadis' files? That sucks but it can be good. Great episode to get ready for the finale. Overall this episode was good and I enjoyed it. My rating is 9/10.

The cat-and-mouse game between the antagonist and the protagonists works. We have a good car chase, great choreography, some interesting zombies in a good pace
fernandoschiavi18 May 2024
In flashbacks, Jadis - going by her real name of Anne - visits Gabriel once a year, privately admitting that while she's dedicated to the CRM's mission, she is conflicted about the lengths that the CRM goes to. Gabriel insists that Anne is still a good person, proven by her inability to kill Gabriel. In the present, making a stop to rest on their way to Alexandria, Rick and Michonne encounters and fight off a family of bandits and spend the night in Yellowstone National Park where Jadis, having deduced their survival, finds them. Jadis unsuccessfully tries to kill them and is badly wounded. She runs away and the couple goes after her in a car chase. Jadis then pulls the bandits into it, with Rick and Michonne being unable to kill Jadis due to her dossier that threatens Alexandria's safety.

Jadis reveals that Rick was slated to receive the Echelon Briefing and move up in the CRM and reaches a deal where Rick will return to the CRM while Michonne can go home, but they double-cross each other and Jadis is fatally bitten by a walker in the melee. Jadis explains that after losing her people, she dedicated herself to a cause that seemed like it would last. Deciding to die as Anne rather than as Jadis, she tells them where to find the dossier at Cascadia Base and gives Rick a wedding ring that Gabriel had found for him. At her request, Rick shoots Anne. Rick gives Michonne the wedding ring and they formally exchange vows. He and Michonne then decide to take Jadis' helicopter and return to the CRM to find the dossier and stop them once and for all. Realizing that Anne is dead after she fails to show up for their yearly meeting, a heartbroken Gabriel crafts a makeshift grave marker for her.

Before we delve into the narrative and technical aspects of the episode, I want to praise the great romantic moments between Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira), which directly remind me of the early seasons of The Walking Dead. These light and dynamic moments between the protagonists serve to make us more attached to the characters so that we fear for their lives when things start to get intense. The beginning of the episode, with the couple's road trip reconnecting after being apart for so long, is definitely a treat for the franchise's fans, and I'm enjoying how every episode includes these moments.

The script here manages to recapture what made the original series work, bringing back the dilemma of whether or not to help strangers and the danger this thin line can represent for the protagonists' lives. Although the scene of Rick helping strangers only to be betrayed has a cool concept that harkens back to Rick's essence, it also has mediocre execution, with poorly choreographed hand-to-hand combat scenes that are nothing like the action sequences we had in previous episodes. One possibility is that they saved the budget for the grand action scenes likely to occur in the final episode, but even so, it doesn't justify the horror of these hand-to-hand combat scenes with these strangers. To avoid sounding too critical of the action sequences, I really liked the car chase. The way the scene was filmed with excellent camera work resulted in a breathtaking scene.

The real highlight of the episode is Jadis, portrayed by the excellent Pollyanna McIntosh. Since her introduction to this universe, we've always enjoyed the character and her ironic way of dealing with situations, especially in The Walking Dead. In World Beyond, the character underwent a shift and became a bit more serious and imposing. Now in The Ones Who Live, Jadis is at her peak, bringing a much greater sense of danger than Major General Beale, who was marketed as the series' main antagonist. The danger she brings here is not just for Rick and Michonne but also for practically all the characters we know in Alexandria, which further increases the fear of what she is capable of.

Since the series began airing, the showrunner, Scott M. Gimple, has been building a lot of anticipation by saying a familiar figure would return. I don't think anyone expected that this familiar figure would be Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam). The character's return here is used to enhance Jadis through flashbacks, showing that the two kept in constant contact even after the bridge explosion and her joining the CRM (Civic Republic Military). Although the use and editing of these flashbacks aren't stellar, they still function in attempting to humanize the character. However, bringing Gabriel back here didn't seem like the best decision because his relationship arc with Jadis felt entirely out of place.

Perhaps the best way to use these flashbacks to enhance the character would have been to show a bit more of her journey within the CRM and her dynamic with Rick. What we saw in World Beyond and in the third episode of The Ones Who Live was very little compared to the grandeur the character presents. But even so, I liked the character's conclusion and how the entire tension of the sequence was handled. I previously thought that the files she left at her house about Alexandria were a lie just to threaten Rick and keep him within the CRM system, but in reality, the community is indeed in great danger. Her death puts Rick and Michonne on an almost suicidal mission to return and destroy the evidence left by Jadis.

Moreover, the cat-and-mouse game between the antagonist and the protagonists works. We have a good car chase, great choreography, some interesting zombies, and a minimum of creativity with settings to make the escape relatively fun and fast-paced, if not exactly tense or horrifying as Michael E. Satrazemis seems to attempt. The audience can be bothered with some of Jadis's endless speeches, but the character's antagonism works within this episode, in another chapter of survival for Rick and Michonne. Beyond the sweet and sappy ending with the marriage proposal, we're left concerned about the mission presented to bring down the CRM in, apparently, just one episode, which seems too little. There are three possible outcomes: the miniseries gets renewed (no surprise); the story continues in another spin-off; or the conclusion will be extremely rushed, by far the worst possibility and also the most unlikely. In any case, we are curious to see the unfolding of the CRM invasion and the plan to overthrow a military army with the "truth." Will the exposure of secrets really cause an implosion?

"Become" is poorly paced and keeps you in your seat, it's a flawed episode but still great and containing one of the show's best moments
Holt34426 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
What We "Become" is the fifth episode which follows Rick and Michonne after they got out of the deserted settlement, with a high possibility of them being believed to be dead. With the episode's premise: Dangerous people make Rick and Michonne's journey difficult. This episode has the iconic duo in Wyoming and the scenery, sets used and overall production design, makes for a colorful and original episode. Like Scott Gimple said, it's like a post-apocalyptic honey moon between these two, a honey moon with the duo being hunted.

This week's episode of TWD: The Ones Who Live "Become" was directed by The Walking Dead veteran Michael E. Satrazemis and written by Gabriel Llanas & Matthew Negrete, the direction and visual storytelling were excellent, and the writing changed from good to average, good dialogue throughout though. Back to the direction and visual storytelling, Michael E. Satrazemis who have directed Multiple episodes per season in The Walking Dead and then Fear TWD along with being producer, he's a perfect choice to direct an episode. He handles every scene brilliantly and makes sure there are brilliant shots as well as the actors are doing their finest work, which they are. It's the first episode which felt like the original The Walking Dead, people simply surviving, and the episode was reminiscent of episode 7.12 "Say Yes", and although I liked that episode when it aired I wouldn't call it a great episode. It had some great character moments and that was about it, this episode of The Ones Who Live had exactly that, great character moments. The scenes with suspension and tension never had me on the edge of my seat and that isn't a good thing, as throughout the whole show I've been doing just that. The writing for those random survivors was something to criticize, so was the whole showdown with them. The plot armor was quite big this episode for Rick and Michonne, something I sighed at, why not write into an injury on Michonne? That would have made the episode more suspenseful.

The production design and art direction is terrific, so is the mise-en-scene and cinematography for the show. The musical score is something I haven't commented about but it's spectacular. The increased budget makes for better production design and visual effects, overall making a better show in every department along with the actors. The episode starts with Father Gabriel with a helicopter in the distance, audible to him and us viewers. What does this mean? The Ones Who Live is getting extremely close to tying everything together, yet the pacing in this episode was just off, with the flashbacks with Gabriel and Jadis taking you away from the tension and suspension which you see in Rick and Michonne's scenes. I did like the scenes though, compelling drama and character interaction with these two characters, very nice to see Gabriel again with Seth Gilliam giving a great performance. Pollyanna McIntosh is incredible in this episode, giving the episode's best performance, and that includes both flashbacks and present day. Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira is also quite good but you see in the writing that there isn't anything for them to truly do, like in previous episodes. The cinematography is incredible in this episode, the shot inside the cabin is spectacular. There's countless others. To end my review, I really liked the ending and what it sets up, especially the marriage proposal which feels the right way for the two. This episode was far from perfect though, yet Jadis' death scene was perfect and brilliantly written. She has long been an interesting character and one who's been very conflicted. In World Beyond, she was the antagonist and her performance in season 2 is why I was so hyped with her being a prominent character in The Ones Who Live, with them even showing her killing Huck in this episode as a quick flashback. Her death scene, the combination of the flashback to present made for some great drama and a fitting ending for Jadis, a great scene. Both in editing and pacing along with some writing, it's quite flawed with, yet by the end of the episode it's kind of redeemed of the former two. Overall it's a quite a good episode, a bit laid back and more adventure like which can be a good thing. I liked the episode and can't wait for the finale next week.

Good one Jadis!! that worked out well didn't it?
Rob-O-Cop26 March 2024
Ugh, really. The full force of the authoritarian organisation that can track and bother to kill anyone who knows where they are cos apparently no one can see helicopters and follow their flight path to a massive city operating a bigger and better military than existed before the zombie apocalypse. It's hard to know where to start with that concept. It's just ridiculous.

But anyway, good old one-person-army-Jadis, who I actually forgot who she was till one flash back showing her to be garbage patch lady, but anyway, one-person-force of nature 'Jadis', a character who has time to sculpt stupid hair cuts, and even Rick has to note it in character, who totally believes in the CRM, decides to go off on her own (do they allow that in the CRM? Didn't seem like they did for Rick) without telling anyone...., for reasons that simply don't add up. But wait she's left a note in her bedroom, back at the fort, cos the CRM are going to bother reading through her diary and collection of recipes when she doesn't come back, instead of biffing the lot into the skip so someone else can have her nice room with a corner window. Doesn't-add-up!!!

Nice to see Gabriel again suffering with his milky eye contact lens.

Nothing really came of it but, familiar face and all that.

So setting up the finishing arc for the show, break into the fort and steal the hand written note, and return home to their kids who could quite possibly be dead cos it's a mad zombie world out there but hey, you can leave them with strangers for 5 years, cos its not like most people don't survive that long......

Really there should be heads hung in shame for this show. This is the best they could write in the 5 year break?? Preposterous.

Weak.
mhorg201828 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
How does the imagine-less Scott Gimple still have a job? World beyond was horrible. Fear was a ridiculous, TWD light. This is just horrible. It took years to make this trash? Another worthless, weak episode with one ridiculous event after another. Oh Rick & Michonne save some people who instantly turn on them. Jadis/Anne shows up, had the jump on them and they defeat her. She runs into the losers from earlier, Rick and Michonne defeat them again. So on and so on. Is AI or some talentless hack writing this? I can't believe I stick with this when I still haven't watched the second half of the ridiculous Fear the walking dead. Time for this universe to end. Please.

too unrealistic
alexsamjoe24 March 2024
My main issue is the fact that the main characters can quite literally dodge every bullet. I wish the writers would make it a little more realistic and have the audience actually worry about our favourite characters dying but I'm not even on the edge of my seat because I know they'll be fine. It's not bad and the acting is good, the walking dead is and will always be my favourite tv show of all time and I think TOWL is good but I just wish it was slightly more realistic. Also I feel like the walkers are the least threatening things in the show now. I am super excited to see how the producers are going to conclude this series.

Too much plot armor
kodaku24 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
It made me skip so hard the parts where they are literally 2 times at point black and they always dodge like it's some fairy tale

come on guys... who write this damn scripts? Just don't arm them if you know Michonne and Rick got that big of a plot armor . It would end up way more realistic dodging a sword or hammer than damn bullets.

Per total the story headed in a good way , but the script ... we can even see it in Rick actors eyes that he didn't enjoyed much these parts But it seems in the end we goot that monotone and boring fills from classic the walking dead fills episodes ( like the dumb guys in the forrest with really bad acting )

Episode 5
bobcobb3014 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
"Become" could have been a good episode, but it just dragged and dragged too much. They waited too long to have Jadis strike Rick and Michonne at the cabin and then the fight just dragged and dragged. I don't think Jadis would get outsmarted by them the way she did and in a post apocalyptic world I don't think anyone would just assume they could trust anyone or worry about protecting others.

I guess a fitting farewell to the Jadis character, but her presence on this spinoff never seemed to make much sense. Okay episode, but way way too long for my liking, but that seems to be what AMC loves to do.
