The Crown Court at Derby features the Hanoverian royal coat of arms very prominently. These royal arms were modified by George III in 1801 - about the time of the original Pride and Prejudice was set and therefore before the events depicted in Death Comes to Pemberly. The French arms (2nd quarter) were removed after George III renounced his claim to the French throne and the arms of Hanover (4th quarter) were placed as an escutcheon in the centre.
