Shot over countless weekends, Interlopers took 3 years to make, starting when Writer/Director Dan Gould was 21 years old, and concluding when he was 24. In case any of the 3 sections of the film could not be completed, each section went through its own self-contained production block, treated as a short film production instead of a feature.
Section 1 was shot first, followed by section 3, and finally section 2.
In 2007, Interlopers Writer/Director Dan Gould was struck by a car as a child, almost losing his leg in the resulting weeks. Due to his innocence the courts awarded the then 7-year old with compensation funds, which were then used almost 14 years later to fund this project.
