Beautiful, except the Lawrence Wright interviews.

Almost magical... It's like there were two different DP's on this. 80% of "La Frontera" pulls you into the namesake region, completely. The story is unique, yet familiar, and is good on its own; but the cinematography was not only beautiful, it made me able to feel what it was like being there more than normal. It captured and communicated things like what a Texas evening must feel like. But then, suddenly, there's these jarring interviews crammed in-the ones with the writer of the book-that feel different and out of place in every way. All I could think was that they're a way for Lawrence Wright to make an appearance for whatever reason. The questions and general dialogue are super awkward or useless, and they're visually out of character. I wish I could've watched an edit of this with those removed. They just felt brutal. ESPECIALLY in contrast to the rest of Iliana Sosa and the DP's/s' work here (but not you, Lawrence-Wright-interviews DP and director).

Extremely moving and personal documentary

Very moved by this episode demonstrating the personal stakes of America's broken immigration policy. Covering the border between El Paso and Ciudad Juarez, the episode demonstrates the long complex history of immigration in this period particularly discussing aspects such as the wartime Bracero Program and use of chemicals on Mexicans arriving into the US. A truly moving and personal episode which demonstrates the extremely personal stakes of immigration policy, and the inhumanity of it too with the separation of families. I wish that more people would know more about this history and not disregard it because of partisan reasons, or the fear that is trying to be stoked.
