- [Brona Croft fights with Ethan Chandler about her consumption]
- Brona Croft: You're fucking a skeleton every night, for Christ's sake. There's no goddamn future in it for either of us. Who are we trying to fool? You want to watch me die? Fuck, no. Go on, go on! Go in to your lady friend now, and have one of your clever chats, you two. Wake up, son.
- Brona Croft: [Brona slaps Mr. Chandler across the face] From now on, you fuck me like anyone else, after you've paid.
- [Ethan Chandler and Victor Frankenstein get in an argument while talking about dead bodies in the newspapers]
- Ethan Chandler: [to Victor Frankenstein and Sir Malcolm] Holy Christ, you're both morbid fucks.
- Dr. Victor Frankenstein: My, my. That temper of yours.
- Ethan Chandler: Well, we're not all bloodless dandies.
- Dr. Victor Frankenstein: Is that what I am?
- Ethan Chandler: I don't know what you are.
- Dr. Victor Frankenstein: You could not understand it, believe me.
- Ethan Chandler: My, my. What arrogance.
- [Victor Frankenstein makes a joke about himself when Vanessa Ives comments]
- Dr. Victor Frankenstein: I'm bloodless.
- Vanessa Ives: The essence of your appeal, Doctor.
- [Ethan Chandler and Brona Croft arrive to the theater for 'The Transformed Beast' showing]
- Brona Croft: [Brona in her Irish accent] Oh, Ethan, I've wanted to come here forever. Monstrous little horrors they enact.
- Ethan Chandler: Say it like that and you can get me to do anything.
- Brona Croft: What?
- Ethan Chandler: [Mr. Chandler chuckles] 'Eatin.'
- [first lines]
- Girl Outside Church: [the little girl outside a church approaches Vanessa Ives] Why didn't you go in? Don't you like churches?
- Vanessa Ives: Well, I suppose I do.
- [the little girl outside the church tells Vanessa Ives the dead never stay underground]
- Girl Outside Church: We put Mother under the ground. But I don't think she'll stay there. They never stay, do they?
- Vanessa Ives: Where do they go?
- Girl Outside Church: You know.
- Vanessa Ives: Do I?
- Girl Outside Church: [as the little girl hesitates] Of course you do. Heaven, silly. They go to Heaven. Unless they go to the other place.
- [Dorian Gray asks Vanessa Ives if she's interested in botany]
- Dorian Gray: Have you an interest in botany?
- Vanessa Ives: All I really seem to know about plants is how to kill them.
- Dorian Gray: Then let me show you something extraordinary. I like to see one extraordinary thing every day.
- [Dorian Gray shows Vanessa Ives a bundle of deadly nightshade flowers]
- Vanessa Ives: Mmm, it's beautiful.
- Dorian Gray: You can do better. Give me words.
- Vanessa Ives: [Vanessa smells the flowers] Delicate, subtle fragrance. Like a berry, but not a woodland thing. Not a thing of the forest, something... of the jungle.
- Dorian Gray: What does it say to you?
- Vanessa Ives: [Vanessa continues smelling with her eyes closed] Touch me. With your finger. Softly. My scent on your neck. Open your lips. Taste.
- Dorian Gray: [Vanessa opens her eyes as Dorian reveals the type of flowers they are] Atropa Belladonna. Deadly nightshade.
- [Dorian Gray asks Vanessa Ives if it's the dark thing in a flower that's exciting]
- Dorian Gray: It's the adder beneath the rose, isn't it? All of this. They can seem so exciting and luxurious, yet within, there's a dark thing waiting.
- Vanessa Ives: Things are so rarely what they seem.
- Dorian Gray: Which of us does not have our secrets, Miss Ives?
- [Dorian Gray shows Vanessa Ives the most rarest of all flowers, Rothschild's slipper]
- Dorian Gray: Rothschild's slipper. The rarest orchid on Earth, and thus the most expensive. It's only found in one place, a particular mountain in Borneo. It can take up to 15 years to bloom. A lifetime for six perfect flowers.
- Vanessa Ives: How long will it bloom?
- Dorian Gray: A moment.
- Vanessa Ives: Is it poisonous?
- Dorian Gray: Like all beautiful things, I hope so.
- [Victor Frankenstein works on the vampire blood alongside Professor Van Helsing]
- Professor Abraham Van Helsing: You have steady hands. Oh, to be young again.
- Dr. Victor Frankenstein: You have the steadiest hands I've ever seen, Professor Van Helsing.
- Professor Abraham Van Helsing: A steady heart, perhaps.
- [Professor Van Helsing tells Victor Frankenstein that the vampire blood does not coagulate]
- Dr. Victor Frankenstein: Nature does not create such rare occurrences with no purpose.
- Professor Abraham Van Helsing: Well, if one had to give a purpose to it, it would assist with Hematophagy. The eating of blood.
- [the Creature reminds Victor Frankenstein that he is his master]
- The Creature: My bride must be... Must be beautiful.
- Dr. Victor Frankenstein: To match her mate?
- The Creature: [as The Creature grabs a hold of Victor's throat] What a simple thing it is to snap your neck. You are so fragile you mortals, such things of skin and air. Such things of the past. The future belongs to the strong, to the immortal races, to me and my kind. Look upon your master.
- [Brona Croft tells Ethan Chandler that she was engaged before]
- Brona Croft: I was engaged once, back in Belfast. Riveter in the shipyard he was. Brutal man with brutal hands. When he fucked me, he would put one of those big hands over my face and turn it away, so he wouldn't have to look into my eyes. There I was, engaged to him.
- Ethan Chandler: Why?
- Brona Croft: There was no money. It's what you did. You married or you whored. One night, he was fucking me, and he got really tough and there was blood. I went to my mother. She said to go back and marry him. Same day I walked down Leopold Street off the Shankill Road and fucked a stranger for money.
- Ethan Chandler: [Mr. Chandler turns Brona's face to his] We've all done things to survive. There are such sins at my back it would kill me to turn around.
- [Victor Frankenstein prepares his needles for blood samples from Fenton]
- Dr. Victor Frankenstein: Steady on, lad.
- Fenton: Keep your fucking needles to yourself. Get a scalpel. Cut me open. Eat up! Eat up!
- [Vanessa Ives gives Fenton an apple when he screams that he needs blood]
- Fenton: I need blood, you fucking devil whore! Give me rats and bats and lungs and guts and flesh! Give me what I need!
- [Victor Frankenstein and Sir Malcolm wonder where to get raw meat to feed Fenton]
- Dr. Victor Frankenstein: I suppose we could get him some very rare meat.
- Sir Malcolm Murray: Or scraps from the butcher's yard, or even the slaughterhouse.
- [as Sembene walks up behind them with a cat, breaking the cat's neck and throwing it to Fenton]
- [Vincent Brand tells The Creature before rising up through the stage floor]
- Vincent Brand: Let us murder the people tonight.
- [Sir Malcolm tells Victor Frankenstein that he reminds him of his son]
- Dr. Victor Frankenstein: I've never been valued for my athleticism. That was always the sphere of my brothers. From time to time, though, one would like to be thought of as capable.
- Sir Malcolm Murray: I lost a son in Africa. He was much like you in a way. Mr. Chandler means nothing to me. He is a finger on a trigger. You are not.
- [Vincent Brand is lowered back under stage during the play and tells The Creature]
- Vincent Brand: Oh! My knees can't take this fucking play!
- [Dorian Gray invites Ethan Chandler to go someplace with him]
- Ethan Chandler: You ever wish you could be someone else? Just run away from your life?
- Dorian Gray: All the time. You want to be someone else? Comes with me.
- Ethan Chandler: Does it involve a drink?
- Dorian Gray: Many.
- Ethan Chandler: What about Miss Ives?
- Dorian Gray: She doesn't want to be anyone else.
- [Dorian Gray tells Ethan Chandler he doesn't believe to be repetitious]
- Dorian Gray: Once you get used to something, why bother? It's just repetition.
- Ethan Chandler: [as Mr. Chandler notices Dorian's many colognes] You like your cologne. How do you choose?
- Dorian Gray: Depends on how I feel. Or how I want to feel, I suppose. Different aromas make you feel differently, don't they? Citrus and sandalwood produce one thing. Musk and lavender another. Jasmine, mint. Each produces a different sensation. A different view.
- Ethan Chandler: Good for you.
- [Dorian Gray tells Ethan Chandler that he plays his part well]
- Dorian Gray: You play your part to perfection, Mr. Chandler.
- Ethan Chandler: What part's that?
- Dorian Gray: Rude, mechanical. Rugged Westerner. But I suppose we all play parts.
- Ethan Chandler: What's yours?
- Dorian Gray: Human.
- [Sir Malcolm tells Vanessa Ives that he wishes his daughter Mina was as cruel as her]
- Sir Malcolm Murray: There are times when I wish Mina were born with your cruel spirit. You're the daughter I deserve.
- [last lines]
- Dorian Gray: [Dorian Gray plays a song for Ethan Chandler in his room of paintings as the two drink absinthe] It's from Liebestod, from Tristan and Isolde. Literally translated, it means 'Love-Death.'
- [when the two undress to the music and begin to kiss]
