- Police rush to the Murdaugh home after Alex Murdaugh reports his wife Maggie, and son Paul dead. With police and press digging into Alex's life and law firm for leads, he attempts to derail their investigation with false alibis.
- Alex's life starts to fall apart after he reports Maggie and Paul's apparent murders and the police begin their investigation, however none of those problems, at least to the outside world, are related to the deaths. With money problems, the people from who buy buys his drugs begin to use hardball tactics on him. And his business associates and some of his clients begin to question him about what he may know about some missing money. What he may be unaware of with regard to the murder investigation is that the police notice some glaring inconsistencies in his story. While he goes through trying to plug some holes in his story and make arrangements for a legacy for Buster, his last surviving dependent, the district attorney does eventually charge him with Maggie and Paul's murders. While the drug use, the fraud and the embezzlement come to public light, Alex hopes that these problems will help him in the murder trial while the district attorney believes the opposite will happen.—Huggo
