An otherwise good episode was jarringly segmented by a casually transphobic scene, reminiscent of 90s-00s bigotry punchlines. The scene was completely unnecessary and had no relevance to the rest of the plot. "Girl was actually a dude" is no longer an acceptable avenue to a cheap laugh, and I'm shocked that, after Letterkenny's folksy-supportive themes, the spin-off would include such a tone-deaf and blatantly bigoted scene. It left me with a foul taste in my mouth and made it difficult to feel invested in the emotionally charged second half of the episode. I'm very disappointed in the writers and I don't know if I'll continue to watch season 3.
