Catchphrase bonanza
RobTortureWright22 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The show itself is still entertaining and the storyline although not as intriguing as the first season is still very fun to watch but WOW do they stomp over the same phrases constantly. "Do I ever tell you you're smart Neagley" "details matter" and "Just Reacher" have honestly been said about 10 times each.... And we're only in the 4th episode. It's sloppy and lazy writing and takes any charm out of each phrase when it's used for the hundredth time.

Reacher teaming up with his old squad mates has made an interesting dynamic but none of them are particularly likeable or real in depth characters. They spend more time talking about who likes who like it's an episode of friends.

The last fight was decently done and had some nice action shots and seeing reacher break some legs and faces is almost Infinitely enjoyable. That was honestly what saved this episode and I will admit I want to see how he gets revenge but anyone who rates this episode 10/10 seriously needs to start watching more TV shows because it's FAR from a masterpiece.

This is getting just so amazing.
jijo-sonicforce25 December 2023
I am really surprised they turned it up a notch in this episode considering I thought there might be a slow burner episode after the action packed first three episodes.

But proved me wrong. The plot twists, the cinematography (esp for the drone shots), the background score, the performances by the main cast, I really couldn't find a fault in it! It was just a rollercoaster ride with the mystery thickening of the (SPOILER) disappearance of Swann, and Reacher and his team do some brilliant detective work and cool smooth action in between to keep you till the edge till the episode ends.

I can't wait for the next one!!

They did it, they actually did it.
MiloSuperSpesh22 December 2023
They somehow topped even the best episodes!

Sass, comedic timing, one liners, fights, intrigue, good plot developement !

Didn't even notice the time !

Damn shame it's another week to wait for the 'burial' which is probs going to be a blast !

Review stuff, mostly well directed and choreographed, the 'fight' seemed a victim of production and stunt work with hiding the stunt doubles and effects so it looks a bit choppy but you have to be really looking for it to spot it.

Music on point, acting on point by all concerned even the poor saps getting beaten up make you feel it, pacing is perhaps a lil rushed but it's packed to the hilt 45 mins ish.

CANNOT WAIT FOR NEXT WEEK !

A Night at the Symphony Review
amantyagi-8328124 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
HI. I am from New Delhi, india. Season keeps getting better and better. Watched episode 4. By far the best episode ever. The chemistry between reacher and dixon is building up in background. I like it how things are going with reacher. From a wanderer and now among his colleagues and working as a team.

Most unexpected scene is of Finley incoming all of a sudden. I love it. Other best scene is - "i wanna throw you out of a helicopter ". Man that was said intensely. Reacher rocks it. The fight with the biker gang. All 4 of our characters seemed to be like alpha warriors. The dialogues are pretty amazing. For example, "scheduled sex with the wife" OR , giving a good sense of humour to the central characters. Overall I am rating it 10/10. Because I am loving the unexpected and sudden changes, interesting dialogues, the chemistry between reacher and dixon, the scene when reacher says Joe is dead and Dixon's eye stare for reacher shows how much care and feelings she has for him. I love it.

Waiting for the next friday's episode. Good luck to the team and crew.

I blurted out "oh hell" during this episode...
peter-4697822 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
...when they were fighting the biker gang and Dixon took her heel off. I know people read spoilers so I won't go any further but everyone who saw the episode knows exactly what I am talking about. I was not expecting that. That was some fight, all the characters kicked some serious butt in that scene.

Also the cameo scene by Finlay, I hope he is in more episodes but then again there are probably too many characters already. Maybe he can play some role in the finale - maybe working with the NYPD detective to "fix" everything in the end so the team gets away without any repercussions?

Everything was good about this episode, even the little satirical scene with the NYPD detective and his Lieutenant.

Finally I just hope they expand Robert Patrick's character, motives and background and he's not just a typical action villain barking curses over a phone. The original T-1000 can do anything, after all. Ha!

Anyway this episode went by so fast, ended so abruptly I was surprised (basically ends mid phone call, right?).

It was probably my favorite so far.

funny how reaction to TV series is Same As To Book
bringbackberniew28 December 2023
Before I start: Always great to see someone from The Wire. Props to casting / the producers for that.

I read 2 of these books. I read the one that became season 1 (plane / beach, same as most people prob do). I liked it enough to read the second one, which was the one that became season 2. The second book was so over-the-top ridiculous in many ways that I gave up and never read another Reacher.

TV series: I liked season 1 enough to watch season 2, even look forward to season 2. I forget my experience with the books. And here they go again. Season 2's story / action is over-the-top ridiculous in many ways. To make it worse, the music is over-bearing and the "chemistry" between the Special Agents is off.

Tongue Firmly In Cheek
Hitchcoc27 December 2023
This is so outside my element, but as a diversion I'm finding this show to be so much fun. Of course, the ensemble cast represent and impenetrable force. Reacher is superhuman and so in control as to be less than believable. We shouldn't think too much. The motorcycle scene at the conclusion wouldn't have changed had there been another 65 bikers. They would have all died and our guys would walk away without a blemish. We do have two ugly forces at work. One is the guy who wastes people with his knife. Then we have the big boss who is helping develop a super weapon system that could easily be used against our country. I do have a bone to pick. Knock off the wise stuff about classical music and orchestras. Why do these heroic types have to come across as stupid and unrefined? Anyway, it is still a great show despite my hesitation on having them as conversationalists.

A Night at the Symphony
Prismark108 January 2024
Reacher has made an important link. It is New Age and their security team. That includes Shane Langston (Robert Patrick.)

New Age have been angling for a major defence contract. The kind that needs certain political wheels greasing.

At a concert in Boston. Reacher and his team are going to target Daniel Boyd, an assistant to a legislator. The kind that goes where the wind and a big cheque blows.

Reacher reaches out to an old friend to help him interrogate Boyd.

Seeing Oscar Finlay again was not a surprise. I expected callbacks to the first series.

Finally series two is getting to the meat of the story. Big defence contracts, some state of the art weaponry that could bring down aircrafts. A reason why people are getting killed.

The link with Afghanistan is still murky apart from it is about drugs. Also with the shadowy AM, who killed an innocent plastic surgeon and his secretary for no good reason.

Not as good as the fuseason
egdix16 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I haven't read the books so I cannot base it on that. The first season, although no masterpiece was fun to watch. I liked his character and his sidekicks. The bad guys were a bit stiff but it was still fun.

They have added his new team this year which for me I wasn't fond of. I liked the lone wolf scenario. The problem is they all seem cliche. All of your typical macho characters. They kill people and act like it is all in a days work.

I know it has been mentioned at nausea, but it has to be said again. The fight scenes. I actually knew one of the girls a dozen years ago. Nice person. Nice actor and also a petite woman who in no way could take on a male goon in a fight. Ok. If trained take on an average guy, but a guy hired to kill? And to walk away unmarked? That was the wimpiest gang I have ever seen. I will continue as I am invested in the character, but I hope it gets better.

If you've read the books then you know they are hit and miss
aVoiceAmongTheMillionz123429 December 2023
And the book that this series was based on IMHO was not one of the better ones. They could have picked so many better Reacher books to base the second season off of and don't ask me why they chose "Bad Luck and Trouble". In some ways I get it. This book fleshes out Reacher's history as a MP Special Investigator in the military and tells us why he's so darned good at figuring stuff out (or not- he hates guessing passwords). However, back stories are not always the most exciting and just like the book, it lacks good pacing. I waded through the book and to my lack of surprise I knew I would have to wade through this season. It's been chapter for chapter pretty faithful to the book thus far, so unless they delete some of the lackluster banter and get to some cliffhangers, it's going to wind up being a weak season and I hope the series doesn't get canceled because of it. Like I said, there are some good books that the seasons could be based off of- "Running Blind" "Echo Burning" or "The Hard Way" to name a few.

Continues in the same style
puzgolac13 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
It is episode four of the second season, and it is more of the same - the show is (just) entertaining enough to keep me watching. It seems that in season 2 every episode is made according to the same formula - a bit of action, a bit of background story, a whole lot of catchphrases, some "shocking" revelation, and the whole thing moves (very) slowly forward.

I liked that they brought Finlay back, not because his scenes here were great, but just for the nostalgia, and that is clearly what they tried to capitalize on, just like pretty much every other show or movie these days. I also liked O'Donnell's jab at Reacher how Marlo could be his soul mate, because of the toothbrush. A one liner that actually made me chuckle.

As for the things that weren't so great - for one, forensics is still not a thing in Reacher's world. AM kills some more people and doesn't care that he is leaving a sea of forensic evidence. Oh, but "he's a ghost", so it doesn't matter.

The fight against the biker gang, while fun, was completely unbelievable. Not just because of the mostly clumsy choreography, but also because all of the sudden, making noise is a big no-no. Noise is no problem when Reacher's team is blowing up a residential neighborhood, but now, even though the bad guys have Reacher's team at their mercy, they choose not to use their guns so that they don't draw attention. Because, you know, nobody is going to notice 50 people fighting in a diner's parking lot if they only use cold weapons.

And that Reacher's final line is pure cringe. It is not well written, and while I like Alan Ritchson as Reacher, he is just not a great actor so the whole scene isn't nearly as cool as they thought it would be.

Still, the season is watchable enough. I don't have high hopes that it will suddenly become a masterpiece, I just hope it doesn't get worse.

"I want to throw you out of a helicopter."
LegendaryFang5627 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
(1,638-word review) This episode was essentially this season's most important one yet - in the grand scheme. Less importantly (but still a significant detail/revelation), we discovered that Langston is the Head of Security at New Age, NOT the CEO. I assumed he was the CEO, as I'm assuming plenty of others also assumed; honestly, his actual job in the company makes so much more sense than being the head of EVERYTHING, at least within the company's hierarchy concerning its supposed legitimacy on an official level.

That reveal does present a new question - a possible, additional mystery: who is the CEO of New Age? We might get a reveal that Langston is doing what he's doing, which still isn't fully apparent to us, under the orders of someone else: someone above him. Hortense Fields, perhaps? He doesn't seem entirely trustworthy in the flashbacks. And he may end up being one of the "sharks" behind the heroin case, including the aviation fuel case, as it presumably was related, given Reacher asked Dixon to pull its file after they examined the crime scene of Private Simms, the kite-imprint-on-his-palm guy in the previous episode.

The more important information we got in this episode was the info dump about the Little Wing project. There are a few more things, either related to that or related to other pieces of the overall puzzle, that have yet to be unearthed, but that chunk must be the main piece.

And the close-to-full-picture we now have is much larger than what got in the first season. It's barely comparable if it's even comparable at all. A counterfeiting operation vs. Selling software to the highest bidder that can make missiles bypass every countermeasure, always hitting their target; while, yes, the counterfeiting storyline did increase in proportion, having substantial scope, it pales in comparison to what we're getting here.

This plot perfectly fits the mold of an action-oriented blueprint more than the first season's blueprint, making me circle back to my assumption after the premiere that we'll receive a good amount of action this time around - a larger amount than before.

However, there isn't much of a palpable sense of urgency to stop terrorists from using this software to deal significant damage to anything in the sky, particularly commercial aircraft. It merely feels like a backdrop for Reacher to unleash limb-breaking headbutts and superhuman-like physicality in his rigged-to-be-successful mission to be the winner, in addition to avenging the deaths of his friends, which, let's be honest with ourselves, is 99% of his motivation. This terrorism plot is small beans. Thwarting it is a bonus. And we're here for it. We're here to see him break bones and steal souls.

I can't "complain" about the lack of urgency to thwart the bad guys' evil plot. The first season was the same. But that's usually the case with most similar plots throughout films and TV shows. That element has been diluted through repetition. Logically, high-scale plots would have it. Now, they've been overdone and are so commonplace that it's been transformed into a straightforward backdrop for other things to shine: for maximizing the enjoyment and experience. Nobody really cares about how this season's plot is a massive step up in severity compared to before. Most people should at least notice and acknowledge the logical reality of that, even if the essential elements to make you FEEL it is not present.

Moving on, I bet Swan's involved in Marlo Burns' supposed disappearance act, and she's holed up with him somewhere. The specifics of his involvement in the full picture of everything beyond that scenario are still a mystery. It's looking like he may have stumbled upon something, then brought it to her, and she's not in on it; they team up, hence his coded email to her, he went into hiding, and now that the situation with Trevor Saropian happened, she went straight to getting the hell out of dodge with her daughter, possibly joining up with him.

Their possible team-up could've also been in the sense of skimming a piece of the pie, whatever the "pie" is, as it's starting to look like it may not be money, or ONLY money - not to mention her bag of money that was still in her house, which is undoubtedly a suspiciously specific, important detail. But in what way? If that's the case, she may've been captured or killed by Langston, and he/his guys were smart enough to convincingly make it seem like she left herself. I predict that whatever went down with her will be very vital in the following episodes, and I predict Swan has to be involved somehow - out there somewhere, in hiding for some reason. He's quite possibly the most relevant piece of the puzzle. I suspect something big concerning him is on the horizon.

Then, of course, we have the most riveting antagonist in both TV show and cinema history: Mr. "Do you know why I like comic books so much?" Adrian. That shtick of his has already gotten old and irritating, with only two instances of experiencing it. I get it - an antagonist with such a character trait, shrouded in an air of mystique, is theoretically compelling, especially on paper. The application of an on-screen persona is where the problem lies. The writers are trying too hard to make him intimidating through this mystique-enveloped, emotionally-void "personality" of unadulterated professionalism, while simultaneously attempting to give him depth and substance through this character trait of being obsessed with comic books because "the good guys always win."

A potentially upcoming, deeper backstory to that (for example, experiencing some traumatic event as a child, and he coped by reading comic books, or they were nearby during the traumatic event) isn't going to resuscitate what was already dead. It's so uninteresting, and he's even more uninteresting. He's an incredibly underwhelming antagonist so far. His death will be so satisfying to see. There better be broken bones.

I also find it slightly death-flaggy that the script included O'Donnell receiving a call on his burner phone from one of his kids, with the cherry topping of him saying to Reacher that he doesn't know why he gave them his burner number. That makes me wonder if something will happen to him, perhaps not in a definitive way - but that will assumably lead to his phone being stolen, resulting in his family being in danger.

I'm probably going to the extreme point of questioning and looking too deeply into everything, particularly things that have obvious alternative connotations. It could've only been a means to bring about the relationship/marriage conversation with Reacher, not to mention it feels like too big of an undertaking to suddenly drop a family-in-danger, "We need to rescue them" subplot into the mix with everything else that's going on, which happens to be plenty by itself. But I suppose that can be included, executed, and resolved super easily - and quickly enough to where it barely feels like an inconvenience to all that's going on concerning the main storyline.

But, lo and behold, the matter of the ambush at the end of the episode slithered right in, ordered by Langston. How did he know where they'd be - or rather, how did he know where they were for the bikers to either follow them until they drove into the restaurant parking lot and parked their car or for someone else to follow them and pass on their location to the bikers?

O'Donnell's phone call could've been code: "Hands are for helping, not hitting" could mean to take a quiet approach and not use guns, while "Share your Legos, okay?" could mean passing that information along. He even went straight to attempting to excuse the call to Reacher by mentioning how he doesn't know why he gave them his burner number, only Reacher was distracted: his attention was elsewhere, and he wasn't 100% focused on that. Even if he was 100% focused, it's already been established that he has a blind spot when it comes to the members of his unit, with how adamantly defensive he is regarding Swan.

The problem with that theory is that none of those things explains how the bikers found them, though maybe we're meant to figure O'Donnell's been feeding them their location, even if it was off-screen, as long as that phone call WASN'T his son.

He even conspicuously looked behind them at a car that was perfectly positioned for us to see and didn't mention anything. The car might've been a random person's car, but what if he was keeping an eye out for the motorcycles? Nevertheless, there's a good chance he was merely making sure nobody was on their tail, though it is odd that he was the only one who did it in a potentially intended-to-be-noticed-by-the-audience way. These details of potential relevance, in coordination with the ambush's timing, are interesting. Maybe the explanation of how Reacher & Crew were found comes down to plot convenience.

Now, it's time to address the biggest takeaway from this episode: Finlay's cameo return. Unfortunately, it was spoiled for me through a YouTube reaction video thumbnail: a nonchalant fashion to get yourself spoiled. But, to be fair, it's been months since this season premiered. I wasn't that bothered by it. It was a pleasant "surprise," besides the surprise part. I'm pretty sure his momentary return was not in the novel being adapted here. I like that the writers took to heart the reception of the first season, specifically the characters of Finlay and Roscoe. I bring her up because, from what I've seen, a lot of people wanted her, in particular, to make a return, which may still come to fruition. I doubt she will, though the writers can still bring her back for her own cameo appearance in the third season.

Girl Power! claims another victim
eoval2 January 2024
The first season was excellent. The second season has been enjoyable. Then came the ending of episode 4. Why, oh, why does Hollywood not understand that women and men are biologically different? A few episodes back there was a similar scenario involving a scuffle between Dixon and and a cookie cutter killer that played out somewhat more believably, and it had given me hope. Then cometh the biker brawl (much to my disappointment.)

There is no chance that two females, no matter how well trained, are going to stand up to men in such a way as portrayed, especially given that the ruffians had been hired to go up against a known giant of a man like Reacher. I actually cringed.

I hope that hogwash isn't duplicated later on in the series.

7.5/10, other than that.

NCIS meets Reacher
OldMovieRob27 December 2023
This season 2 is starting to feel more like NCIS than Reacher. He's got his skilled team of experts, all brilliant, all amazing physical fighters, even when wearing heels and fighting a biker gang! Most everything is predictable and by the book so far, we know where it's going, and the Team Reacher schtick is starting to get old. I find myself wanting to see his character doing things his own way, working alone, and not always getting the back-handed comments from his crew. All of these assisting characters are fairly shallow but, judging from how the series is going, they are all equally indestructible and will make it to the end (well, maybe not the guy with the kids because, you know, the guy with the family usually ends up tragically dying in shows like his.) Ah well, I'll see it through but season 1 was a lot better than this.

Disappointing so far
doug2go26 December 2023
Admittedly - Season 1 of Reacher set the bar pretty high but season two isn't coming close - besides from the actors not working well together and a poor story - hard to put my finger on exactly what is wrong except that Season 1 was an adult action drama , this one seems to have come out of the Hallmark stable of series for kids - the fight scenes are silly and unreal , the romance is wooden if at all , the one sex scene so far was straight out of the evening censor catalog of how to have sex with your close on - there is hope for a recovery but I am not holding my breath , but I will watch the rest of the series in hopes that Roscoe returns to save the day and the series .

Season 2 falling short on all fronts
swayned-7230923 December 2023
Season 2 jumps all the way to the 11th novel in the series. After 10 books, bringing in Reachers old team was a welcome change of pace, but here it seems quick. Clearly Hollywood feels that Reacher alone can't entertain people, but I think they're wrong.

I can't say I remember liking the novel version of the team reunion either, but I find this season pretty boring. I admit I'm partially jaded by wanting it to be more like the novels, but more than that I want it to be good. This feels like an NFL pregame show with ten "analysts" bickering and making quips, it's overcrowded. This isn't the avengers where you need to keep adding more sidekicks every season.

It just keeps getting worse
bigslyjonez23 December 2023
They are killing this character with horrible dialogue, annoying characters and truly unbelievable situations. I know movies and tv is fantasy and if I wanted real I could watch the news (actually not so much these days 🤣), but there is a limit to the bs.

At least Finely showed up to salvage a couple of minutes.

And wtf is up with the worst motorcycle gang in the history of movies. The remind me of the one in the Clint Eastwood movie Every which way but loose.

Please rewrite this for the next season and get back to the magic of season 1.

I believe I am finished with season 2, no more for me. I am disgusted.

Yech!
fissile-9089326 December 2023
Simply awful! Thrown together cliched writing that will have you glancing at your phone the entirety of each episode. Reacher decides to get the band back together after the death of some of its former members. They move through a formulaic script punching, kicking, stabbing, and shooting the usual villains without breaking a sweat whilst cracking lame one-liners. Did I mention that Reacher's gang is as invulnerable as any DC/MCU world hero or heroine? All that's missing in this collage of juvenilia is having them in spandex and knee-high boots. A precipitous fall from season one. I keep watching with one eye (the other on my phone) to see how bad it can really get.

Terrible writing
rjb-3832222 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is the last episode for me. It has gone way past anything resembling reality. For example- 8 men in a residential area waiting to kill someone? Really? A pipe bomb doesn't wake up the whole town? Really? All the shooting- no body in the neighbor hood comes out except the old lady? Really? I won't even get into the actual fight in the house which is insanely comical- except to say- why did the house not burn down? I see fires but they all go out by themselves? Really? A car crashes into several parked cars and no one comes out to investigate? How many dead bodies are these guys going to leave laying around? And- how long does it take for the cops to actually get there? This is something 10 year old kids might enjoy. More in the line of Batman or Spiderman stuff. Was this made during the writers strike? Enough for me.

Pathetic
aboalhyjaa23 December 2023
I just benged the first 4 episodes of the second season of Reacher and let me start by saying those was probably the most 4 hours i have been bored this year.

I will try not to talk and yap a lot about the bad script and writing level I literally was laughing out of cringe remembering Archie from Riverdale when he saves the day each time and his little minions would say those clishe phrases, its pathetic to have this kind of writing in a show like this! Also, the fighting scenes are so funny, makes you wonder where is the Amazon budget on this series?

The characters? Not one im emotionally attached except Reacher of course cause of season one, if i or anyone would start this series by the second season they wont finish the first episode.

Horrible role for female characters
hajhossein20 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Reacher has spent years training an elite group of soldiers: his unit includes super smart people (they can decipher any kind of secret), super human fighters (can kill dozens of bad guys without getting any scratch) and they all follow their boss.

Now how does this elite group plan to get information from the senator?

Ask female characters to wear low-cut dresses to attract the attention of the senator's guy?

Seriously? Is this the way that Reacher uses the abilities of the 110th Special Investigators?

This is shameful and disgusting.

Please hire good writers if you plan to make another Reacher series or you will lose your audience.
