Mission Brief - We need our crew to find three satellite dishes and two antenna pieces. And then successfully put back up The fallen comms tower before the communication window closes and the mars orbiter misses the ecliptic plane.
With respect to the communications tower, the parabolic dishes are pointed upwards in order to communicate with the overhead satellites. The other antennae are:
- Log-periodic antenna - The log periodic is commonly used as a transmitting antenna in high power shortwave broadcasting stations because its broad bandwidth allows a single antenna to transmit on frequencies in multiple bands. It has a range of over five miles (arrow configuration). It operate is around 30 MHz to 3GHz which belong to the VHF and UHF bands.
- Yagi antenna is used for communications between two places over a medium distance of three to five mile. Popular uses for Yagi antennas included Over the Air (OTA) television, amateur and CB radio and, of course, cell phone reception. Yagi antennas can be used in the frequency range from about 3 - 3000 MHz, with the best operating range below about 1500 MHz. In this case, there are two yagi antenna, one that is horizontal and the other vertical.
