Great season finale!
veraslutsky26 May 2023
I am an avid Dick Wolf fan and have watched his shows religiously for over thirty years.

This season has had a lot going on, with the departure of Jay Halstead, Hailey's adjustment to that, not to mention our own (the audience). Kim's battle with the PTSD from getting shot the previous season.

And the ongoing storyline with Adam being undercover with the white supremacist group (great casting with Lee Tergesen as Richard Beck, took me back to the days of Oz, a great show where Lee Tergesen played one of the main roles and had issues with white supremacists at Oswald Penitentiary).

Although I wasn't too thrilled with a good number of the episodes, this season finale was definitely packed with drama, suspense and action!

Kudos to the writers! Great job!

"A Better Place"

A brilliant episode from start to finish - and it went by in the blink of an eye. What a tense and dramatic 42-odd minutes of television to close out Chicago PD's memorable tenth season, as the Intelligence squad rushes to stop Richard Beck's planned attacks (which are chilling), when word is received that they are being pushed up. This is Patrick John Flueger's episode to shine, and he certainly does shine. No matter the setting, he is on song. Props also to the youngster playing Callum Beck. In those last few minutes of the episode, he earned his paycheck.

Events inevitably took a dramatic turn towards the end - there was no resolution to the big moment of the episode, and the cliffhanger will be a long one, given the current writer's strike that is still ongoing now in September - which gives us a glimpse of Angry Voight. When Jason Beghe sets his jaw and gets that cold stare going, you know bad guys are going to be in some serious strife.

The last ten minutes of the episode were incredible.

wait what?

Warning: Spoilers
That storyline had so much potential.. it was pretty much the only arc they had going on through the season.. the white supremacist guy that was going to do something crazy..

in the end, nothing happened.. boy shoots Adam.. Kim finally shows she cares about him.. wow.

He appears out of nowhere, because boy called him but mom got him out and drove... so there was no way he could have found them right after kim got to them..

After they toned the show down and made Voight a boyscout, the show lost its touch.. the characters became bland and uninteresting.. jay and hailey basically had only each other as storylines.. jay left and hailey just didnt have anything else to do besides crying.. adam and kim was just about her not being grateful for him being there.. kev had his father storyline and torres became the most interesting character with his difficult past

but that is the thing.. boring cases.. bland characters.. this richard white supremacist guy was ridiculously solved in one episode.. they used so many episodes with adam going undercover.. getting the woman and richars's trust.. and then in one episode they rushed everuthing to end that arc...

lazy writing.

Self-righteous lecturing from corrupt police gets tiresome

Self-righteous lecturing from corrupt police gets tiresome and it continues to be a theme in this show.

The acting was of even lower quality in this episode, with unbelievable emotional outbursts and panic. It seems the actors were not given much time to prepare (or it may be that they are not very good at acting in the first place). Even Trudy seemed out of character in her small part. Kim was ridiculous, but that is usual: apparently, emotionally unstable police are supposed to be allowed to continue involvement in high-pressure situations. Kevin was weak and annoying, as usual.

Obviously, the only thing relevant or partly interesting about the episode was the interaction between Adam and Callum.
