No more Kwan!! Please!

No more Soren's wife!! Please!

No more looking-for-kid side quest!! Please!!

No More!! No More!!

These characters and side quest belong in another show. I am so bored with them!!

Why did the TV Halo producers create these boring nonsensical non cannon characters?

There is more than enough Halo material out there to write a great TV show.

Everything related to the Spartans and The Covenant is great. Just focus on them!! Nothing else!

Calm before the storm.
lucasherrmann29 February 2024
The previous episode, Reach, was epic. Aleria feels like a filler episode, necessary to tie up loose ends. Nothing much happens really, but we get closure for Vannak's death and Riz's already struggling story. When it comes to Kwan's story I have to honestly say that in the previous season her story didn't grasp me that much. But it seems like there's more to her than meets the eye. What happened to Kwan on Aleria is building up to something bigger.

Honestly the best parts of this episode wasn't the rather slow story, but the anticipation of what is to come. This episode made me excited for what happens next, and that's good enough for me.

Really like the character exploration of the Spartans
vinsma1 March 2024
I may be in the minority here, and maybe that's because I haven't fully played the games before, but I do like the character exploration of the Spartans other than their combat abilities. These killing machines that bring fear to the alien horde and are seen as superheroes in the Halo world get to stretch their humanity side and also asks what exactly are Spartans? Simple machine or human beings, or maybe a bit of both apparently. Even though Riz's development feel a bit rushed, I still feel it was effective. She has doubts, weaknesses, ambitions that set her apart from being a simple soldier. And of course Vannak's story was sad and ended way too short.

This episode felt down right small in comparison to the previous one, but a good chance to catch a breath before the inevitable big battle ahead.

Love The Game! Hate The Show!
CatWipp1 March 2024
I hated the first season entirely. I didn't think there were any redeeming parts of the show. But I have FOMO so I kept watching - hoping it would turn around and become something closer to the game series I spent hundreds of hours playing as a teen. And that's why I kept watching up until now.

I will admit that there have been a few fleeting moments where they'll show a battle scene that will make me think the show is about to morph into the show I want to watch. But then the episode's credits roll and next week begins with more boring drama about characters I couldn't care less about. So I have finally decided to stop watching the show. I invested enough time waiting around for it to get good. If you're anything like me, I'm sure you can relate. If you're more like the people who rate this show as 10/10, keep buying from your current dealer because they are obviously supplying you with some good stuff! I'm actually kind of jealous.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Warning: Spoilers
This was a heartbreaking episode. Not because of the episode mind you, but because of the fact that after the showrunners have garnered so much good will back from fans these past episodes - Master Chief leaves Reach WHILE IT'S BEING GLASSED!!! I mean come on..!

I actually liked this show. I even defended it during season 1 because I liked how it explored the Spartans humanity, and how Makee easily could have switched sides had she been treated differently. But this side step was one too far.

No Spartan would ever leave the defense of Reach for any other reason than to pursue a higher strategic goal, not while humanity is at stake.

Period.

It's like they never changed showrunners at all.

The gamer kids need to set their records straight
hannesumbreit-995181 March 2024
Accept the fact that a TV show will never be a 1:1 adaptation of the game. Otherwise, it would be canceled after the first season.

A TV show with bombs dropping in every episode, faceless heros killing without a single dent, won't survive either. We need character progression and this is exactly what this episode is. Some call it filler, but as long as it progresses characters that are actually important, the episode isn't less important than the rest. I enjoyed it as it is quite emotional and ties up some loose ends.

I did NOT play halo and it never really appealed to me, but I must say that I love the show and especially season 2. Whoever wants to see invincible heros in armor all day, go watch power Rangers.

Spartans Never Die
chiefspartanfan99729 February 2024
They disappear on the battlefield. That's what Chief thinked. That's what many of us thinked. But this episode - it's an honor for everyone that have left us on war.

I don't think that plot of finding Kessler is so neccesery, but i think this is the first time when Kwan.character wasn't annoying. They tried to build up a lot of the future plot, including where Kai went.

And questions about what happened to Admiral Keyes still remain open. But we do have some very good interactions between John-117 and Halsey, which makes this episode definitely worth appreciating.

A good opening battle scene, but it's as if the fall of the Reach was not pressed a little. I still have questions about the script, but this is the best Halo adaptation we can get here and now. That's why I love it and will protect it.

Shaky Camera And Horrible Script
dk7775 March 2024
Boring, tedious and poorly directed.

I've never played the Halo video games, so I can't compare this series to the original material, but this is a mediocre generic sf TV show.

I already gave up on this series, but I read that they changed some things, so I thought it might be better. It's not.

This is another generic series where maybe one out of ten episodes is good. For the rest of the series, we follow characters that no one cares about, and some are even irritating. And the characters are there as filler and because the producers demand so or the show will not be financed.

One of the biggest problems is the direction, which, along with the bad script, is terrible. The shaky camera makes every series or movie worse, everything looks cheaper, and it's noticeable here. The series may have a solid budget, but this kind of direction makes every movie worse.

Kwan Ha and Soren's wife, characters no one cares about, take center stage in this episode, and at one point Kwan Ha tells Master Chief what he should do. Laughable.

At one point, Soren's wife threatens a guy while Soren waits outside. Yes, his wife should be sent to extract information, while Soren, an ex-Spartan who is built like a tank, waits outside. Hilarious.

Things like this are the reason why less and less people watch these series or movies at all, as soon as they see a hint of "modern film production" they simply change the program.

Solid episode
TjenaDavid1 March 2024
I agree that season two have had a pretty slow start and that the first 2-3 episodes been okay/good and not better as one had hoped. But, as many I've been really excited by episode 4 Reach and hoped that it would kickstart from here.

Before watching episode 5 I read some reviews and saw the rather low rating and thought "oh no here we go again, another somewhat slow/mediocre episode incoming".

But, I really enjoyed this. Sure it wasn't as action filled as episode 4 but it added a lot of depth and quite emotional at times. Overall a solid episode, very good acting/effects and promising build up of what's to come.

Holy mother of god
algyurkovics29 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
All I wanted was a faithful adaptation of the game series that we all know and love, but these incompetent show runners and writers clearly have no intention of trying to get actual halo fans to enjoy the show. The previous episode during the fall of reach was about as well done as it could've been to fit within the tv show lore, but oh my god the ending screwed everything. With a MAJOR character in halo: ce now gone, and the non-existence of the pillar of autumn, we're now taken to some random planet in the middle of nowhere instead of being taken to the halo ring and following the story of the game. Complete filler episode, I honestly can't even continue this any more. Reminds me of what Disney did to Star Wars, a complete bastardization of one of the greatest sci-fi universes I've ever seen, honestly quite impressive. If you're looking for a good time with a cool halo story, this show isn't for you. This is not a good show for Halo fans, this is a generic sci-fi adventure with a lazy halo coat of paint. If you're one of the writers for this show, I sincerely hope you never get another job in this industry ever again. We're aware Hollywood likes to ruin established stories and characters like no one's business, but this has got to be a new low rivalled only by Rian Johnson abominable film about Jake Skywalker. Horrible.

Good Episode but that cant be the end of the Battle for Reach?
bretta199529 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I really think the acting and cinematography has improved this season and I really enjoy Pablo Schreiber as master chief as well. I am a bit concerned about the lack of action though. This episode, following the most intense episode yet, really lacked in that respect. Is the Battle for Reach already over? This was a much larger event in the Lore than what we've gotten so far. Im hoping we get to see a return to Reach again this season. A few thing that did catch my attention though are mentioning directly of the Arbiter, we get to see High Charity and perhaps the foreshadowing of a Forerunner aspect maybe next season? Halsey did say to Chief: "I didn't choose you. I found you. Whatever build the Halo, whatever left those artifacts behind left something in you you can't run from this. This had been calling to you your whole life".

Is this possibly a reference to Halo 4 and what the Librarian says the John about his history as a reclaimer??? 8/10.

A Masterpiece of Science Fiction Storytelling
nagingar29 February 2024
From the moment "Aleria" begins, it's clear that Halo Season 2 Episode 5 is not just another chapter in the series; it's a monumental achievement in science fiction storytelling. The episode seamlessly blends the rich lore of the Halo universe with deep, character-driven narratives, setting a new standard for what's possible in video game adaptations.

The visual effects are nothing short of breathtaking. Every frame of this episode could be a work of art, with stunning landscapes and meticulously detailed character models that bring the world of Halo to life like never before. The action sequences are exhilarating, featuring some of the most sophisticated and well-choreographed battles in the series to date, all while maintaining a clear focus on character and story.

What truly sets this episode apart, however, is its emotional depth. The writers have crafted a narrative that explores themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and the quest for identity in a war-torn galaxy, with each character's journey feeling both personal and epic in scope. The performances are exceptional, with the cast bringing a level of nuance and complexity to their roles that is genuinely moving.

The pacing of the episode is impeccable, expertly weaving together multiple storylines and building to a climax that is both shocking and deeply satisfying. The score, as always, is magnificent, enhancing the emotional impact of each scene and elevating the overall experience.

Writers and director has no clue who audience is
zfgcjx12 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I can only come to the conclusion that some people have become so stuck in some other world that they don't understand that a guys show or movie is for the guys. We want to see some badass dude with some hot a@@ chick killing a whole bunch of bad guys. That's all we ask! Masterchief is literally the easiest thing to do and not screw up. So, my only conclusion is that there doing this on purpose. I don't see how else you explain the attempt at girl bossathon in this mess and no Masterchief. The whole season 2 is the worst takeover by an alien enemy in the history of TV. It literally is too painful to watch any longer. Please do what they should have done to Reach and kill offf this not Halo show.

Halo
mhmdkarwnd29 February 2024
The best series I have ever seen is really great. I was immersed in the story and I am impatiently waiting for the next episode .This episode was great and it completely moves the different story lines forward together well, but I wish it was more faithful to the game's story line and we had more action scenes along with a very rich story narrative. I hope that the next seasons and especially the third season will be aired soon and we will have a full and enjoyable action story and there won't be much interruption . I hope you enjoy the series. In my opinion, dealing with Kessler's character was not necessary and wasted the time of the movie.

Tedious
godsnumber229 February 2024
Last episode was good, though as is always stated, not the Master Chief we love. However I'm beginning to accept the whole 'No Helmet' thing.

This episode though adds absolutely nothing to the story we want in my honest opinion.

Why the insistance on story lines of made up characters is beyond me. There's so so much to work with you could get about 10 seasons out of it!

Nobody really cares about Madrigal!

Makee is another pointless addition to add unnecessary dialogue for the covenant, just use a damn Prophet!

Get to Halo, have some battles, discover the Flood and enough of this nonsense!!

The die hard fans need to OPEN THEIR EYES
diddlysquat2774 March 2024
The fans who are even slightly bothered by episodes like these... like... have you EVER seen a TV try to sustain for five or six seasons?!?! We watch the video games play out from one perspective. Do you know how boring this show would be if they followed the game exactly?! Try to enjoy this as an expanded world and an effort to build our understanding of the story. Because when you shift that mentality I think you'd begin to enjoy it like I have, and so many others have. I'm loving the characters, the story building, and it is going to be so much more satisfying once we are officially on the ring.

The Human Side of the Spartans
martinushinahua1 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
As a fan of the Halo game and the books, it was interesting, not the best, but I did like it, the appearance of the Inquisitor, the more Human side of the Spartans, and small winks or mentions that make Halo that I understand if you are not Lore follower will not understand it, but it can improve so that they can continue attracting new audiences.

On the other hand, the change of story they are giving about the Halo rings surprises me.

Dr. Halsey already seems to empathize with the soldiers she has created. Perhaps this change is due to the loss of Captain Keyes.

Now with Kai. There is a doubt that it is not very clear if he really betrayed the feje, but there are posters in the camp facilities that say "let's continue with your battle" as if giving death to the Master Chief who fell in Reach.

A Spartan Never Dies, But they are let down by Boring plotlines
peterenglish-6806729 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
To be honest, this episode was a big waste of my time.

While yes John and Halsey had a number of well overdue discussions, this episode was way too dragged out for the story, Kessler going missing should not have been such a long story segment, also the fact in two episodes we have lost two main characters (Spartans to boot, with a number of other characters unaccounted for, presumed dead) and have essentially replaced Chief with Kai in the UNSC's eyes as they think Chief is dead,

not to mention Makee's basically useless scenes in this episode made it feel like a hodge podge collection of Garbage.

Favorite Episode
hrolandelli9 March 2024
This is by far my favorite episode. The writing and exploration of grief and betrayal was poignant and heart wrenching. Pablo's performance was so powerful.

I love character driven episodes. The deep dives into who these god-like people are truly make a good story for me. After such an action packed, devastating episode of Reach, good storytelling dictates that you take a step back for reflection and give the characters room to process what just happened. This episode does that in spades. It's an exploration of grief and for Master Chief, what it means to be human. It also sets the stage for where it's going.

This season has been an emotional rollercoaster in its storyline. I disagree with the belief that the first 2-3 episodes were slow. The show was criticized for not spending the time to develop what was happening. The first 3 episodes did just that. Set everything up for the 4th, the Battler for Reach. Without that, Aleria would have fallen flat and the emotional payoff wouldn't have been as visceral. Well done!!

It's anything but Halo
kyleeller2 March 2024
Dear Paramount. Thanks for following the trend of every other Hollywood production company out there. You are given the reigns of arguably one of the best lore rich universes out and you burn it to the ground with useless side stories and character contradictions.

The only thing resembling Halo about this show are the names and destinations.

Paramount will more than likely get at least one more season out in an attempt to save the ship that's already been sunk from the get go. Hopefully after that we can finally burry it where it belongs and move onto something better.

We are all watching the glassing of the Halo universe.

More master chief without his armor
scarceak4729 February 2024
You would think you would get use to seeing master chief without his armor but no I was dead wrong. The more you see him without his armor the more cringe the show becomes . It started off well and its getting ridiculous seeing halo not halo. This season. Is definitely better than the first but the whole no helmet and gear is really making the show hard to watch. You can't expect every episode to be action packed but it's becoming to be to soft for a halo show. Hopefully the next episodes will have Master chief wearing his gear and actually look the part that he should be playing. I have no idea who thought it was a good idea to have episodes about a character that wears armor for a living not wearing armor at all.

Cmon...
reeseboren29 February 2024
Continuing to watch "Halo," I remain hopeful yet cautious, especially after the recent episode. The previous installment was enjoyable, but it seemed to set the stage for potentially undermining developments. This episode confirmed those fears, appearing to veer away from the rich lore established by its predecessors. The addition of certain subplots feels unnecessary, perhaps even detracting from the core narrative and depth that fans have cherished. It's a delicate balance between innovation and respect for the original universe, a balance that this episode struggles with, hinting at creative decisions that might alienate devoted fans while trying to appeal to new audiences.

Utter Garbage
caleb_wiley29 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I just can't... This show is so soft and misguided on all levels. Creators brazenly either missing or avoiding the appeal of the IP. I don't understand what made them want to make this show or take this angle.

"Combat (De)volved" to nauseating soap opera.

Reach is gone and Chief is stillllllll out here whining about why he was chosen. Blah blah. You're THE Super Soldier, bro. Embrace your supposed lifetime of training and lock the hell in. No soldier this dysfunctional would eveerrrrr be decorated or lauded this way. The Chief in the games laid armies to waste single handedly. Every gamer saw it.

And dangling that vision of the Halo ring is patronizing after all these eps.

weak sub story
nikiasssszotos29 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I am disappointed, turning this legendary franchise, to a mediocre sci fi series, sub story is straight garbage, this could have been so much more, it has good action, good cgi, the main actors are good, just the writers, and some subactors can't deliver, this could have been THE SERIES,it has all the lore, Aliens, ADV Tech, WAR, Heroes ,AI, and the list continues...and instead of focusing on all that lore that made Halo LEGENDARY we get kwan????or the missing boy.a master chief with out body armor full of questions, fingers crossed for season 3 for doing a 180,on the storytelling, for more action and some interesting side characters,KEEP IT AS MUCH "HALO" AS POSSIBLE PLEASE!!

It's a shame
am_black-7397929 February 2024
I'm really sad and ashamed to watch this knowing how much of a great story this could be. They've butchered the story, they don't know the lore, they don't even want to get to know the lore and they even can't comprehend the depths of these stories Is it that really hard to write a good story? If yes why they don't just remake the original story?

It's not even changing or disrespecting the lore, It's completely ruining a great opportunity. I really wish in future episodes they get better but I don't have high hopes.

This could be a great and phenomenal story about struggles of humans to exist, a tradegic war and hard choice between complex dilemmas, but instead they taken it down to a low quality sci-fi.
