The best of the best
chiefspartanfan99722 February 2024
The show has never been this GOOD. Everything about it is beautiful. Both drama and action. Very intense and good action. Great speech from Admiral Keyes, John-117 is great. The entire Silver Team is wonderful. I still have no words, only emotions. Simply great.

Yes, the whiners will cry because John-117 runs around without armor, but I'm already tired of these fans. Like most of those who watch and enjoy this series. If you can't deal with certain elements that much, just don't watch. Because this is a great episode. An absolutely great episode. I'm so impressed. I've always wanted to see a film adaptation of the fall of the Reach. And I'm sorry we didn't have Noble Team, but it's a different perspective. And he's good. Damn good.

Best Episode of the Show So Far...
caryleavy22 February 2024
Honestly was very impressed with how well this episode flowed from start to finish. The on the ground action was exciting and Pablo gave his best performance as the Chief thus far into the series. He really felt like the Master Chief, even though he wasn't wearing his armor. My only complaint is that I wish Chief was in the episode more! Season 2 has been a major improvement from top to bottom. Also, kudos to the DP, camera crew, and G&E. They are absolutely killing it with their work on the lighting and cinematography.

Is it too much to wish for Noble Team to make an appearance? It's the only thing I feel that this season is really missing.

WOW!!!!
robvlee22 February 2024
Firstly, I'll put my hands up and say I've never played Halo so I'm basing this purely on what I seen on the TV series. I thought the 1st series was great and the 2nd series had gotten off to a bit of slow start but this is without doubt one of the best episodes of this series... heck, any tv show... I've seen in a while. The action is amazing with fantastic camera work that makes you feel like you are in the heart of battle with them. The episodes flows beautifully with the sacrifices that do come having an emotional impact. If this is just the start of what is to come from this show then i can't wait. WOW WOW WOW!!!

Somber, Brutal and Intense

Warning: Spoilers
Well. This is what a lot of people have been waiting for, including myself. The fall of Reach. The action sequences continue to dazzle in season 2 and the "one-shot" like sequences through the rubble of Reach are brilliant. As our Spartans fight chaos on the streets, dead civilians and mass panic everywhere. Every action sequence is superbly choreographed, and I'm going to rewatch this episode over again just to revel in their glory. Admiral Keys speech was amazing and really hit me emotionally, and did his potentially presumed early death. Though I have a feeling he is somehow not dead and Kai saved him last second. It's a bold move if this is not the case and has me a bit divided if he is actually gone. Season 2 has been pretty solid overall, but man was this episode non-stop intensity. Minor quibbles aside like the few minutes spent on a clichéd shop keeper refusing to leave. Reach is a stunning episode of Halo from beginning to end.

WOW!!!
Edelweiss2122 February 2024
This episode was absolute epic, from the first minute tonthe last. Probably one of the best episode of a sci fi show i watch. The storyline, the acting, the intensnes of the fighting scenes, everything was on point, and i didnt want the episode to end. Finaly all comes together slowly... It was also a very emotional episode, in my opinion. What else can i say, just watch it and enjoy... I hope that the next part will be catching up here exactly and show us more from the resistance fight. Halo is a great show, the first three episodes are imo very good to, but they are more to get the story going, to this 4th parth, wich will blow you.

Finally!!! Outstanding episode
terrylarosa23 February 2024
I can't even imagine what kind of person wouldn't enjoy this stupendous, stellar episode. Action from beginning to end. I couldn't care less whether the Spartans were wearing the suits or not. The effects were as usual flawless. Nice little tidbit when John said Thermopylae; referencing the battle of the 300. This is clearly the episode most of us wanted; especially after the mostly dreary last two. There's still hope for the season yet. Nice rousing speech by the Commander to add to the proceedings. I've never played the game so I also couldn't care less whether the story is similar or not as many have endlessly complained about. Now I can once again look forward to episodes again.

Best So Far...
graeme_moore123 February 2024
As a fan of the series as a whole (never played the game), I still understand the criticism from the first series as a gamer myself. This episode was absolutely flawless, the action scenes still drive emotion, the cuts between scenes was perfect.

There's only been a handful of episodes that I can truly stand by and thus was one of them. There was nothing out of pace, the characters were perfectly driven and executed.

Sci-Fi has never been stronger in this episode. I can't wait to see what comes from this, as mentioned previously I've never played the game and I can't wait to see what the story unfolds.

What an explosion of an improvement.
davidsharifae22 February 2024
The episode will have you feeling you are on Reach and death is within reach at any and every passing moment. You are on this journey of survival with a weakened human race and an armourless Master Chief hoping you can survive until the end of the episode.

It is nothing like any Halo episode I have watched, perhaps because Reach, the capital of civilisation, was at stake or maybe because the cinematography was on point or without any spoilers, the realisation no one is safe hitting you harder than you thought possible as the episode nears its end.

Get those cushions stacked behind your backs, this is top notch 'edge of your seat' entertainment.

Where's the SUIT
DarthMovieguru_9622 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Season 2 feels somewhat different from the ending we got in season 1, with a major shift in the direction / story telling. At the end of season 1, after falling in battle we saw Cortana take over Johns mind, this was more in line with the connection that John and cortana had in the games. John/Chief then turns into the ice cold blooded killer we all know and love, single-handedly defeating the hordes of covenant in impressive style, saving his team & returning the artefact to the ship, no nonsense, no emotion and no remorse.

In season 2 - they remove cortana from johns head??? Seems like a massive step back. I was hoping we were just at the beginning of more cold blooded Chief action, rightfully warranting his DEMON status amongst the covenant.

This episode was the best of the seasons so far, Pablo Schreiber does an excellent job and I couldn't think of any actor better for the role of master chief. However, why are they so reluctant to put chief in his suit? This is what makes chief, CHIEF. We have seen with the Mandalorian, you can still have a guy in a suit and connect with the audience, if done in the right way, it can be more powerful.

Stop ducking out on the suit.

LET THEM COOK!!!
austingpoole24 February 2024
Incredible episode! The emotion, the story, the cinematography they came the absolutely play for season 2. I cheered, I cried, and above all else I persevered. This episode not only delivered but it gives you hope that this season they will not disappoint. I know some people are upset about the lack of John in the helmet, but this episode show cases how unimportant a suit can be. It shows you that above all else John is just a man doing what he was always destined to do, PROTECT. I've been Xbox only my whole life just because of Halo. I know some may disagree but this season 2 provides great hope.

AMAZING episode! Stop whining!
gabrielcamarac24 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I understand the fan base behind the game, but as a fan and player myself, I'll tell you this: get over it. People just can't trick their minds into thinking the tv show doesn't really need to be a copy/paste of the game story.

Chill, guys, just enjoy the show! For God's sake, Master Chief facing an Elite without a suite and, damn, beating his a.. off? That was insane!

The way this episode was made is amazing, non-stopping scenes, action from the beginning to the end were just wow!

The whole team at the top of their game. Admiral's speech calling John-117 Master Chief in front of the marines? I would join that fight any time!

Downside of this episode, and I think that was a flaw in the script, was people repeatedly saying the most valuables assets were taken off by Ackerson when he flew away from Reach, but heck, leaving Cortana behind?

Either showrunners want us to think Ackerson don't see Cortana as important as she is - and this will be proven in the next episodes - or they completely overlooked this.

Anyhow, Cortana will be needed by the Covenant and maybe they were just lazy to come up with a story.

Bottom line, incredible episode! Season two is amazing!

Action looks good but misses in execution.
maciej-furst4 March 2024
The action is good and I think people worked really hard to bring this to life so it is a bit sad that I feel like this episode took a turn towards the boring for an episode that is meant to be exciting, and here is where I believe they went wrong. They started to build up the action sequence, only to cut away from it and focus on talking about feelings. Rather than focussing and building the story about the fall of reach, the story steers away from that so people can talk about their personal feelings towards each other. While this episode does have action in it, the focus is clearly not the action but it focuses on personal thoughts and feelings that the characters in this show have. This was rather disappointing.

Why
TheBigDaddySlim23 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
My brother in Forerunner what are these writers doing? Having the entire episode where the Spartan's don't have their armor (and apparently the armor was taken off Reach so they can't even use it in the future) and they kill off Keyes waaaaay before he should be killed is absurd! Cortana falling into Covenant hands on Reach is a slap in John's face honestly. I don't care that they killed Varrick because he's not exactly a vibrant character but they're trying to pull heartstrings with all these deaths in 1 episode. Also trying to have Halsey show emotion when Keyes dies is absurd because she's really a cold hearted biznatch, and lets not even talk about how she just "let" Soren go all those years ago. I get this isn't the Canon timeline but by the Rings this is insanity. Also Makee saving Chief over and over is becoming an annoying plot convenience.

Now that is Halo!
johnrussellnunley26 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Wow, from start to finish this episode was incredible! The action, the acting, the visuals, the EVERYTHING!

This show is really starting to pick up and heading in the right direction!

One thing that is great about this episode is No Kwan-ha!

If the fangirls can get over the fact that master chief isn't in his armor and helmet all the time they might even enjoy it.

But since they don't and just love to flood this show with negative reviews, I figured I better counter them and give this episode the 10/10 it deserves.

Seriously if you wanna see chief in his helmet 24/7 just play the games again.

Let the people who know story structure develop the characters so everyone can enjoy the show and Halo experience.

The best episode so far.
alfredox9123 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Where do I start? This episode was so good that I still didn't believe it. At first, the direction, scenography, sequences, and dialogue were incredible.

Personally, I'm not the kind of fan who is upset by the fact that Master Chief does not wear his helmet all the time. I'm not considering these things as something to punish the show. It's true that creative freedom in live action based on video games should be taken with care, but that is fine as long as we receive quality products.

Back to the episode, I didn't expect that Keyes died so soon, even before combat-envolved events, but this character's death was even better than the video game. In the video game, his death did not feel relevant; honestly, we just saw a guy who had a horrible death because of the flood and nothing else. Here, at least, we had the opportunity to see a character with better development who sacrifices for those he cares about.

Finally, I hope the showrunner and the rest of the production team continue down this path and still give us episodes like this.

Excellent...!!!
marceloferaguiar22 February 2024
I was looking forward to this episode, those of us who played Halo were able to experience the fall of Reach through the video game. I wasn't expecting a tremendous surprise when watching this episode. Without a doubt, the way it was narrated, the combat scenes, the drama, the feeling of being disoriented in the middle of war made this the best episode of the series so far.

It is important to highlight the performance of all the main and secondary actors who helped create a perfect atmosphere, added to the details of the special effects and the location of the camera, all as well coordinated and executed as if it were the best super production.

Best episode so far
ezran7427 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I think this was the strongest episode of the season. The action was amazing and I think there has been a lot of good growth from John and Riz this episode, them getting to have real human connection and figuring out how to deal with loss. The last few episodes have also helped redeem humanity a bit for me in this series. Previously the only human characters that we have seen that seem to be good people were our Spartans. The Military Command, the ONI and even most civilians we meet seemed to be the worst that humanity had to offer. The last few episodes have helped shift my perceptions through Perez and her family, even Halsy is less the monsterous child stealer and butcher and more nuanced. She still is a monster, but at least you can see something human in her. My only criticism was the burry your gays trope. Setting up Louis and Danilo only to kill them off was somewhat disappointing.

This is Halo
tortch-8895725 February 2024
So far the highlight from the first 4 episodes. Action, suspense, breathtaking atmosphere and fantastic images. I love it. The story begins and you immediately want to know what happens next. I'm already hoping that there will be many more seasons. The last time I was so captivated by something was when I saw Star Wars for the first time. Halo has the potential to be a saga. It's new, it's different and yet, like the games, it's simply gripping. This episode has everything a good series needs. From Easter eggs to drama and a little bit of humor, nothing is missing. In addition, there is the top cast that simply conveys what you already felt about the characters in the game.

Now that was Good!
gravloc22 February 2024
Still not really Halo, but that was really good! Badass action episode that we have been waiting for, but unfortunately not in the armor. This show has been so up and down it's crazy. I keep watching for the effects, which are great, but every now and then there is a good episode. Definitely still far from the actual Halo story. But damn, this episode was a absolute banger! I hope they didn't waste the whole seasons budget on this episode and the rest of the season is just a bunch of talking. However the rest of the season plays out, I cannot commend the entire crew involved in this episode more. It was awesome!

A Vast Improvement
rstenstrom25 February 2024
So much action in this episode, it was bloody fantastic. So this is what the last 3 episodes of dragged out boring talking has been building up to. This episode was a much welcomed improvement and the best episode of the show so far. I liked so much, the action is outstanding, the dialogue is much improved and I actually started to feel like the Covenant is a very dangerous force to be reckoned with.

Now some people probably have been complaining that the Spartans do not have their armour in this episode, but it just shows that they don't need armour anyways to be tough. Especially Master Chief, he has a couple to hand to hand fights with Elites in this episode and he still kicks butt without his armour. Admiral Jacob Keyes was also fantastic in this episode, his speech was a delight.

So far in series 2 I've been thinking, and this allies to any project which is based off of a book or video game. Is that if you're not going to stick to the source material provided to you and just use the characters and overall story detail at least still tell a good story which people will still enjoy to watch. Now many people might watch this and never even played the game or read any books surrounding Halo but at least the story is still in some ways interesting. There are some parts in this show I enjoy, but a lot of bits which I just think are boring. Controversial opinion, but I've started to not care about John also having on the Master Chief costume, its shows us who the character of John is and not just Master Chief, and I also think Pablo Schreiber is an excellent actor and is a pretty good protagonist and the right choice for Master Chief.

Love this episode!
aldwin199923 February 2024
I hope there's a season 3, this episode just shows the absolute potenital of the halo series and I hope those who gave up watching it in Season 1 hopefully gives the series another chance!

As a long-time fan of the Halo franchise, I've eagerly followed its journey onto the screen, and this latest episode has truly raised the bar.

The action sequences are nothing short of spectacular. A lot of the gamers complain about John being out of the suit and what not, but in reality the way the cast/director is approaching the character makes way more sense. You're able to tell the story with more meaningful impact and to actually understand the character further.

I am concerned...
northern-8927422 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
While I do prefer the show in general so far in season 2 I find myself concerned about how far they are deviating from the established cannon.

Yes I appreciate this is the silver timeline but let's face it ..we are all here to see the chief do what he does best with Cortana giving us the comic relief and lore while John is wearing his damn Mjolnir!

Yes it's good to see that the Spartans are still a force to be recognised when wearing a T shirt. Now both Cortana and his armour are both gone. Are we going to get some contrived method of finding Halo and getting off reach?

Is Master Cheeks going to reappear and use is augment man parts with Maki again and the she just shrugs and gives Cortana back? Is Ackerson going to go ha...just kidding bro and return John's armour?

I was hoping that season 2 would follow cannon a little more closely.

Not terrible, not great, but not very "Halo."
InvalidMedia23 February 2024
Checked out this newest episode against my initial decision not to watch any of Season 2. Went into it with an open mind after hearing good things. Low expectations. I can tell there was at least an attempt to make this more Military-SciFi than last season, but it still feels massively under-baked and too far removed from Halo. There is something about the overall look of this show that seems low quality, and I'm not talking about just its CGI. Even with its 'more grounded' UNSC vs Covenant battle scenes, this still feels like something you'd find playing on the SciFi channel late at night back in the day. Dancing around in Halo's skin like Buffalo Bill. Also, the UNSC troopers... I can't get over how distractingly goofy and oversized their helmets are. Or how they all look like they're geared up with laser tag pads.

In terms of the action's tone and flow, this didn't hold up to the gripping intensity established through other live action shorts like Landfall and We are ODST. There was a heavy reliance on threats existing 'just off screen.' An improvement over last season, but I've seen better. As for the depiction of Reach's fall... it was trying to be somber, but just didn't quite land. It didn't feel "real." Can't put my finger on why that is. We were only allowed glimpses of the surrounding tragedy. Never seeing, say, transport ships being shot out of the sky. Evacuation points overrun and slaughtered as soldiers scream for support over the radio. Spartans in full armor, immortal Gods among men, dropping like flies. Halo: Reach did a better job of conveying the sheer hopelessness of the situation.

So F'n GOOD
hsjnncjh23 February 2024
I never write reviews. In fact, I just created a login to say how good this episode was. I've never done that in my life. This series is so awesome. And I've never played the game. So good. Soooo fn good.

And to the old time Gamers who keep on complaining. You are missing out on such a fantastic, action packed storyline. You are sooo stuck in the past. Snap out of it. Enjoy this Amazingness. And stop please stop complaining.

I also loved season one. I know a lot of people complained about it, but I loved it. I think Halo is becoming one of my favorite series ever.

Can't wait to see what happens next. Fantastic scenes, graphics, acting, storyline.

Master chief rocks. I wish I was into gaming. Maybe I would've appreciated the series more. But I suck at gaming. I think I reached the word count. The series rocks. Watch it. Enjoy it. And the 2% who are stuck in the past and complaining. Stop it.

Great epsiode
richardrc-1859624 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Well after ehh episodes and the still disappointment last week, we get a gem. That ends in a gem. No garbage kwan. And we get to see chief being a normal person (with abilities sure) but no armor. And a great speech from Keyes. And a Spartan die. And maybe the heretic with makee? Is makee a clone? Hmm we don't know. The only part I didn't really like was the amount of jackals with an energy sword. I played through reach and I don't remember that many with a sword. Random sure. But not squads of em.

To take up space, it appears Soren has a bigger role. Ok sure whatever. Maybe he becomes a Spartan again? Yep calling it. And still no flood. I imagine we see that at season end.
