The good "Cape Fear" leftovers

It's strange to look at deleted scenes and make some analysis but one can give it a try. A proof on why Martin Scorsese's "Cape Fear" is one of his best efforts along with his countless acclaimed classics, and besides of watch in that movie, comes from what he left out of it. It's not like those 7 or 8 scenes weren't unimportant or poorly made, but if you watch carefully you'll realize that they're either unncessary, or redundant to what's already covered. And those moments (if viewed after the film, obviously) only proof that Marty and editor Thelma Schoonmaker made all the right choices and the film stands out as one of their best moments, also great for everyone involved, and a film that didn't go unnecessary longer.

Among some of the memorable deleted sequences we have some extended De Niro lines at the diner when Nick Nolte comes to threat him, where the pyschotic Max Cady talks of his recounter with his ex-wife (remarried with a plumber) and how he threatened her they had an affair; another phone talk of Cady with Juliette Lewis character; and if you felt that the Bowden family runaway after the PI murder was jumpy, there'It's strange to look at deleted scenes and make some analysis but one can give it a try. It's fun to see those small moments that stay on the cutting room floor. 6/10 s a brief scene that explains their reasoning (that moment could stay in the film, but it's not a giant loss). It's fun to see those small moments that stay on the cutting room floor - all greatly acted by the cast. 6/10.
