Today, Taylor Swift‘s sixth studio album — Reputation — has its official release. We’ve been getting teases in the form of several singles (“Look What You Made Me Do,” “Call It What You Want” and “Gorgeous,” among others) for the past few months. Fans have been patiently waiting for three years. And after all those years, as you might imagine, they were …ready for it (get it?!)
So when the album drop did happen, there was chatter (quite a bit of it, in fact!) all over social media. Fans’ questions included: “Which song referenced the singer’s feud with Kanye West...

Denzel Washington, Lil Wayne, Aaliyah, and a mugshot of his father: just a few of the faces that Drake has inked on his body over the years. And after all those tattoo sessions, someone is finally returning the very permanent gesture, as his father just tattooed a large portrait of his son’s face right on his bicep.
The rapper’s dad, Dennis Graham, turned to tattoo artist Money Mike, for the ink, which TMZ reports was inspired by the portrait of his own face that Drake has inked on his back. And judging by the photos of Mike’s work,...

It's been 92 days, 14 Power of Veto competitions, three Dens of Temptation, one useless Tree and 16 of the dumbest HGs ever cast on the show (plus Paul) on Big Brother 19. And after all of the showmances, pots and pans, barking Ravens, broken bones, wiener jokes and lies, Paul, Josh and Christmas are the last three standing.

The first three fall film festivals have come and gone, with hundreds of films and dozens of Oscars contenders unveiling for movie fans in Venice, Telluride and Toronto. And after all those screenings over 19 days from late August through mid September, who got the biggest Oscar-season boost? Would you believe Christopher Nolan and Steven Spielberg? Mind you, neither Nolan nor Spielberg debuted a film in Venice, Telluride or Toronto. Nolan’s “Dunkirk” opened in late July, and while he screened “Dunkirk” in Toronto as part of a tribute to the 50th anniversary of IMAX, the movie was a known quantity long.

Vanessa Hudgens pulled out all the style stops for her first time hosting the Billboard Music Awards Sunday night in Las Vegas, taking the stage alongside Ludacris in a slew of glittering, skin-baring outfits, including one look that channeled Cher, who received the coveted Icon award at the show. On top of giving her fresh, short bob haircut its official red carpet debut, not to mention killing it with her impersonations of Nicki Minaj and Céline Dion onstage, Hudgens stole the show with eight (!) outfit changes throughout the evening.

The ‘Donnie Darko’ director imparts important Hollywood lessons.Richard Kelly on the set of ‘Southland Tales’
It only takes one movie to make you a notable filmmaker, as we’ve seen with Richard Kelly. His 2001 debut feature, Donnie Darko, is a “mainstream cult classic,” if the oxymoron may be allowed. Initially a flop, the sci-fi teen movie is now popular enough to warrant a new 4K restoration and re-release in honor of its 15th anniversary last year.
He has made two other features, neither of them so successful, and hasn’t directed anything in eight years. But that one movie is enough to make him an expert on the good and bad of Hollywood, and fortunately he hasn’t become a curmudgeon sitting on the wayside, so we can still look to his lessons learned and the six tips collected below as positive guidance.

Live TV comes with certain risks, and Sunday’s Oscars snafu – in which “La La Land,” not “Moonlight,” was mistakenly named Best Picture at first – is a reminder of that. The occasional slip of the tongue or even pranks can lead a few buzzy, unpredictable moments, which may explain why live TV is experiencing a resurgence in popularity among TV programmers.
But there are times though when major snafus take over a live broadcast, causing embarrassment or controversy. It’s in those moments when the networks probably wished there was time for a do-over or edit.

The war over the Orwell device exploded on Days of Our Lives during the week of January 30.
Two people nearly died, two more reconciled, and two got kidnapped.
This kind of storyline is a soap staple, and it might have been very moving had it involved characters viewers can actually care about and root for.
After Dario was beaten up and nearly killed, Nicole found him and stayed with him until the ambulance came. In a scene eerily reminiscent of Marlena helping Jj after he was shot a few months ago, Nicole begged Dario to stay alive and got him to utter the name of his attacker.
Besides the fact that this was yet another rerun of something we'd seen not that long ago, there was the problem of Nicole and Dario's friendship having lapsed ages ago.
I forgot they were once good friends, because Dario forgot about Nicole until...

Red made sure to end The Blacklist Season 4 Episode 2 with a bang.
Despite Mr. Kaplan’s earlier acknowledgment of what she guessed Red had in store for her and later seeing Red walk Mr. Kaplan to a quiet space and saying it was pretty much his only option, I couldn’t help but find it hard to believe that Red would kill her.
And yet he was perfectly fine with pulling the trigger... but he did kill her, right?

Red may have not checked Mr. Kaplan's pulse at the end, but he was feet away from her when he shot her, and there was blood splatter. Or did Red's bullet merely clip her and she's still alive?
Does that mean she might come back as a scarred adversary later on in the season or was her clutching the grass at the end...

New Hampshire bride Angelique Arsenault ended up having the perfect accessory on her wedding day: a hitchhiker's thumb! When her limo got a flat tire on the way to her wedding ceremony in Milford, Arsenault did what any determined bride would do - she hitched a ride to the venue. "We were all surprisingly ready early for the wedding, waiting on the porch for the limo," Arsenault, 29, tells People. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Season 1, Episode 16: “Legendary”
Story by: Greg Berlanti & Chris Fedak
Teleplay by: Phil Klemmer & Marc Guggenheim
Directed by: Dermott Downs
Airs Thursdays at 7pm Et on The CW
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow ends its first season on a deft, compelling cliffhanger that opens a number of possibilities. The finale itself, as per usual for the show, does a few things well and almost everything else poorly. The primary thing it does do well is jettison the three weakest characters (whom I have been vocally requesting killed off for most of the show’s run), namely: Savage, Kendra, and Carter.
Yet even that comes with a caveat, because after an initial mishandling of Kendra’s character early in the season from the writers, and uncomfortable acting from Ciara Renee, the show gradually but very thoroughly turned Kendra around and made her a well-rounded, interesting, sweet and empowered character,...

A soul-crushing experience: lazy, cheap, lurid, and stupid. Painfully unfunny and pointless. Sacha Baron Cohen now panders to those he once rightly mocked. I’m “biast” (pro): once loved Sacha Baron Cohen…

Happy post-Halloween, everyone! I hope it was spooooky and fun and sugar-coma-tastic. Man, I love Halloween. And this year I had a big party to go to, so I decided to go all out on my costume, a creepy “broken doll.”
Even though this year’s costume was not specifically geek-related (unlike that year I went as Black Canary and everyone thought I was Lady Gaga… sigh), I had a great time putting it together, and since putting together a good costume is part of the fun for me at some conventions, and I haven’t done a costume how-to (Emily-style!) in a while, I thought I’d give it a whirl with my Halloween getup.
I am unashamed to admit that this year’s costume idea came from an email Hot Topic sent out advertising their Halloween costume pieces. (And Fyi, if anyone else is remembering the days when...

Mark Hamill’s lightsaber-wielding Jedi wasn’t in the latest trailer, and it hasn’t taken bloggers long to dream up multiple conspiracy theories as to why
In all the hullabaloo over the launch of the new Star Wars trailer earlier this week, the glaring absence of Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker from the spine-tingling preview almost went unnoticed. An oversight perhaps, on the part of the marketing team; a side-product of the movie’s bulging cast list and the need to give everyone involved their five seconds in the sun. And after all, we did hear Hamill’s voice, as Luke, in April’s second teaser trailer, telling an unseen, unidentified family member that they too were strong with the force.

Ioncinema.com’s Ioncinephile of the Month feature focuses on an emerging filmmaker from the world of cinema….but we would be disingenuous in categorizing this month’s spotlighted artist as a “new” arrival on the scene as this person as added a significant of contributions to the American independent film landscape.
This October, we feature Reed Morano, an award-winning cinematographer who’s deft craftsmanship can be found in works dating back to Courtney Hunt’s Frozen River and So Yong Kim’s For Ellen to more recent oeuvres in John Krokidas’ Kill Your Darlings and Mark Jackson’s War Story. Morano made the transition to directing, wearing not one but two hats on Meadowland, a soberingly thoughtful examination on loss, grief and an eschewing type of salvation starring Olivia Wilde in a performance that several are calling both fearless and ferocious.

When last we left the ragtag heroes of Tales From The Borderlands, things were looking somewhat bleak. An Empire Strikes Back-esque ending saw the gang outnumbered and outgunned by the vicious Vallory, and any hopes of an escape seemed unlikely or foolhardy. Now, as the action picks back up right where players last left off, it seems escape was even more than unlikely. Dragged into an unwilling – let’s say – alliance with Vallory, Rhys and Fiona have to come up with a plan to lead their friends back toward Helios, where they will have to retrieve the final Gortys piece for the Queenpin.

At this point, I don’t think there’s anything else I can say about 2D platformers that hasn’t already been said about the genre as a whole. I think it’s safe to say that just about everyone who’s remotely interested in video games has played one at some point, even if it was just for a few minutes, or on a smartphone.
Granted, N++ is not your typical platforming game. More in line with something like Super Meat Boy than a Super Mario Bros. game, the series has seen a surprising amount of success, considering its first outing took the form of a free online flash game (not unlike Super Meat Boy).

Kaitlyn Bristowe is the Bachelorette! She charmed her way into the hearts of the Bachelor Nation – and nearly the Bachelor himself, Chris Soules, on season 19 of The Bachelor. Now Kaitlyn has nearing the end of her televised journey to love.
Let's dive right in, shall we?!
Talk about an intense conversation between Nick and Shawn! That pretty much went exactly how I thought it would. I understand they don't like each other. It's a challenging position to be in for both Shawn and Nick. They are two totally different guys dating the same woman, so it makes sense for them to have tension.

It's happening! Love Island really is coming back... and we couldn't be happier. This time, it's a celebrity-free zone as members of the public try to find romance in the sun - and it's all kicking off on Sunday, June 7. So very soon indeed, then.
The new version of the show is hosted by Caroline Flack, so we caught up with her before she flew out to Love Island to find out why she's the Queen of Heartbreak, why she wants people to cry at home, and why we should look out for a certain player in the cast...
1. Love Island might be all glamorous beaches and villas, but Caroline's not expecting much of a holiday.
"I don't think I'm going to get much time to chill out!" she admitted. "I think I'm working the whole time because I'm going back and forth as well for The X Factor. It's...

Pre-credit sequence. It's Night 35 and the Top 5 castaways return to camp. Carolyn is giddy. Mike is incredulous. Rodney is offended that Carolyn didn't tell him about the Idol, which is funny since Carolyn's offended that Rodney voted for her. They agree that without Idols or advantages remaining, everybody wants Mike out, which is especially funny since Mike was the only person to support Carolyn at the previous Tribal. But loyalty doesn't go very far when you're this deep into "Survivor." Mother-Lover. Tonight's Reward is an individual challenge and it's really only worthwhile if Rodney loses. No Rewards for Rodney! It's a complicated challenge involving tiles, a number puzzle, shuffle board and other stuff. Wanna know what they're playing for? Love! Carolyn's husband comes out and she cries. It's a fairy tale marriage. Everybody cries. Mike's mom comes out and he cries. It's a fairy tale mother-son relationship.

It's Wesley Crusher's last appearance as a regular crew member! Join us to wave him off in this week's Star Trek: Tng look-back...
This review contains spoilers.
4.9 Final Mission
As he prepares to leave for one of his many important mediation meetings, Picard summons Wesley to the bridge. He immediately begins to chastise Wesley for taking ten minutes to arrive (what was he supposed to do, site to site transport!?) Wesley begins to apologise, before Picard reveals that they won't accept that kind of behaviour at… Starfleet Academy. You know, the school Wesley got rejected from twice.
That's right, the day is here: Wesley's finally going to stop being an unpaid intern and become an unpaid (presumably) crew member. As his final mission, he is to accompany Picard to boldly go and resolve a mining dispute. The fun never stops on the Enterprise. Nor, indeed, does it start.

2015 is looking to be the year of the book adaptation, with a long lineup of movie releases set to (hopefully) bring their literary counterparts spectacularly to life. The likes of Fifty Shades Of Grey and Still Alice have already hit cinema screens, and are soon to be followed up by the big screen versions of all manner of literature, withThomas Hardy’s 1874 classic Far From The Madding Crowd at one end of the scale, and the Hunger Games finale at the other.
So, with so many book adaptations due to grace screens in the coming months, what better time than now to look back over a long, varied history of book adaptations?
Like with any genre of filmmaking, adaptations are notoriously hit and miss, yet enduringly popular. The 39 Steps, To Kill A Mockingbird, and Jurassic Park are all examples of the adaptation done right, and each is a loving testament to its source material.

Which is the scariest Scream of them all? We’ve put the satirical, postmodern slasher series in order…
This feature contains spoilers for all of the Scream movies.
Do you like scary movies? Director Wes Craven and writer Kevin Williamson decided most people probably did. In the mid 90s, they breathed life into a flagging genre by creating a new knife-wielding icon who, crucially, was aware of all the horror movie villains who’d gone before.
In fact, ‘Ghostface’ was so into his horror trivia that he quizzed his victims about it before striking. Could watching enough horror movies save you when your own life threatened to turn into one? According to Scream, maybe it could.
Although the first movie ends with – spoiler! – the death of both the killers behind the mask, the Ghostface persona proved harder to kill. In the tradition of so many other slasher villains, Ghostface came back for more.

Swara Bhaskar has been admiring the Tamil film industry for a while now. She has acted with R. Madhavan and Dhanush in her films Tanu Weds Manu and Raanjhanaa and found them to be good people apart from being great actors. But a stint in the experimental film X brought her closer to the Tamil industry and the the working of its technical crew.
X is a film that looks at a filmmaker’s fractured journey through life, presented through fragments of his past. The narrative unfolds in the course of a night when he meets a mysterious girl who triggers off memories of all the women who shaped his life.
Since no two women are alike, each woman has been treated by a different filmmaker. Eleven filmmakers with disparate styles worked on this bridge between different kinds of Indian cinema. And after all the chapters of his life were shot,...

Following a lengthy wait, Seventh Son has finally made its way to theaters. The epic fantasy centers on a professional spook (Jeff Bridges), who takes a dashing young apprentice (Ben Barnes) under his wing as the two prepare to face the end of the world. Together they square off against Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore) and her army of deadly minions.
Directed by Sergei Bodrov, Seventh Son is based on the novel The Spook’s Apprentice by Joseph Delaney.
At a recent New York press conference for the film - Bridges, Moore and Barnes discussed their personal connections to their roles and how themes of fate and destiny have played out off-screen.
This film talks a lot about destiny and fate. How much has fate played a role in your lives?
Jeff Bridges: Destiny and fate? You guys wanna go first on that one?
Ben Barnes: Nobody wants to go first on that!

Voters are, well, voting, ballots in hand, catching up with screeners and such. As already laid out earlier this week, there's plenty in the news to help curate the field in this way or that, but this is also the time for outright discovery. And you know what film is playing really, really well to voters lately? "Nightcrawler," that's what. I had been turning over the question even before this morning's Ace Eddie nominations were announced, but now I'm even more curious: Can Dan Gilroy's firecracker film end up in the Best Picture mix? It would obviously be a massive coup for Open Road Films, which continues to take on interesting quasi-genre fare like this and "The Grey" and provide a unique indie haven. The film is already a pretty significant box office success story, having grossed over $30 million in domestic release. It's not just a hit, it's a profitable one,...

You can never be too rich or too thin or—in Hollywood, at least—too young looking, regardless of whatever your real age happens to be. A handful of stars who appeared to turn back time this year had fresher appearances at the end of 2014 than at the beginning.
We don’t know what their secret is (laser peels? Botox? Crème de la Mer?) but we do know that the following celebrities look better than ever.
9. Eric Dane: Maybe it was the lighting—or his youthful choice to rock a black leather jacket—but Eric Dane appeared noticeably blonder at the People Magazine Awards in Los Angeles on Dec. 18 than the silver fox look he worked at the beginning of the year. Additionally, the 42-year-old’s face was clean-shaven and glistening as opposed to the graying, scruffy beard he displayed last May in Germany.

Destiny is a game that has perhaps been judged a bit harder than it should have been, largely due to the Borderlands comparisons that circled around the title before its launch. To be honest, it’s probably hard to create a co-op focused first-person shooter with a focus on loot, and not be compared to that franchise. So, whenever a friend of mine asks if they should consider picking the game up, I tell them the following: “If you want a Borderlands-sized loot game by the developers of Halo, then no. If you want a Halo-sized game with loot elements added to the mix, then yes. Even more-so if you’re the type of person who mostly cares about great gameplay, and places much less emphasis on the need for quality storytelling.”
If you go into Destiny with realistic expectations of what the game actually is, chances are you’re...

Editor's Note: We're featuring individually chosen Fyc's for various longshots in the Oscar race. We'll never repeat a film or a category so we hope you enjoy the variety of picks. And if you're lucky enough to be an AMPAS, HFPA, or Critics Group voter, take note! Here's Michael on The Babadook.
Years of horror films have trained audiences how to guard against all the tricks of the genre, but Jennifer Kent’s The Babadook gets around those defenses and needles us in ways for which we aren't prepared. Kent understands that all great horror touches on some form of primal terror. Something deeper than the surface shocks. The Shining had our fear of isolation. Jaws had our helplessness in the face of nature's power. The Babadook taps into our dread of our own offspring. The fear that they might destroy our life and the fear that we may hate them.

If you haven't heard, there's a major hack that has cripple the Sony corporation over the past week. A group calling itself "Guardians of Peace" (Gop) took down the company's computers, specifically in the film division. They're reportedly writing on chalkboards to keep business moving along over there, and there's even speculation that the studio is concerned that North Koreans, embittered over the Seth Rogen/James Franco film "The Interview," are to blame. Whatever the case, and whether it's connected to the hack or not, the studio's woes continued over the holiday when a number of watermarked Sony screeners leaked online. It's worth noting that it's the same package of films that have gone out to critics groups and guilds recently that showed up on torrent sites: "Annie," "Fury," "Mr. Turner" and "Still Alice." So it's entirely possible that this was just an unfortunate occurrence tied to the screener season...

When World War Z broke out in 2013, it all happened very fast. Brad Pitt and his family were just driving along, slowly inching their way through a traffic jam in the Philadelphia streets and suddenly - zoompf! The zombie apocalypse just came out of nowhere.
Rabid rakshasas started ripping all vestiges of modern western civilisation to shreds, attacking people who were simply going about their regular daily business. From there the whole planet is revealed to be falling to hell, Brad Pitt and fellow survivors of the viral uprising engaged in continent-crossing combat to repel the bloodthirsty hordes and find a cure for the contagion.
For Pitt's character, though, the turning point was that moment of realisation back in the Philly gridlock, back in the driving seat of his family's SUV.

Last year, RADiUS scored at the box office and in Awards Season with its documentary 20 Feet From Stardom (nearly $4.95 million and Best Documentary Feature Oscar win). This year, it may have another non-fiction awards behemoth, hitting theaters this weekend.

The documentary is presented by Enlighten Films, directed by Sushrat Jain and tells the stories of three ordinary Indians, a penniless superfan, a boy superstar and a girl cricketer, for each of whom cricket is a lifeline.
