A flock of flightless birds are peacefully nesting when their local, towering, volcano starts to signal that it might be about to erupt. Most of them skedaddle to the safety of the sea, but one pair can't decide what to do with their four eggs. Two each? Well that's the plan until one of them chickens out and leaves the other trying to get all four to the water. Certainly two, maybe even three - but four? Choices, choices... Then, when nature seems at it's most violent, it also appears at it's most practical. This is quite an entertaining short animation made by some French students who tell this story of comic indecision well whilst creating some lively flapping creatures that wouldn't look out of place in an Aardman film.

A very good and funny animated short film

Good story, good technical approach and a strong artistic direction. It's a good mix between slapstick and epic movies. I understand very well why this film won so many awards all around the world. Made in 10 month by five french students from Ecole des Nouvelles Images, it's just amazing. There are a lot of animated characters and many shots used VFX (smoke, lava, explosions, etc.) The direction of the film is very well. The narrative purpose is deeper than we think with a smart structure. BOOM's directors have made a masterpiece with a lot of cinema references. A very good animated short movie for all the family !

the eggs
Kirpianuscus28 December 2023
The vulcano eruption determins the birds on island to go to ocean. But, for two of them, the things are not so simple . Four eggs and their parent responsability. Couple conflicts, struggle to save the future descendents, the pressure of eruption, a tree having captive one of eggs and the father in ...hot situation.

And the nature rules more than efficient.

A nice animation, fair balance between tension , humor and so familiar situations a bitter - sweet end and a clever metaphor about parenthood.

So, a real nice short animation defining the effects of volcano eruption and defining, in smart terms, the parental instinct.
