Madhuri regretted signing the film and would deny and ignore any mention of her doing the film. Madhuri had signed the film in days of her struggle after her debut film Abodh. The film was such a low budget film,it did not get a proper release. When a journalist asked Madhuri about her co stars she left out Shekhar Suman's name. When the journalist asked her about Suman, her reply was "Please don't ruin my day". Shekhar would the violently retaliate in the print bashing Madhuri endlessly.
The producer Sudharshan approached Shekhar Suman for the film and told him an actress named Madhuri Dixit who had debuted in film Abodh would be opposite him. Suman found her name very odd sounding and insisted on meeting her. The producer took Suman to Madhuri's house. Upon seeing Madhuri, Suman quickly whispered in the producers ear "Im doing your film !".
The producer claimed Subash Ghai called him and threaten him to stall the release of the film. Subhash had signed Madhuri as his discovery and did not want Manav Hatya to release. Ghai responded saying the producer was only looking for publicity to sell and release the film and was lieing about the story.
Manaav Hatya didn't get a theatrical release, was shown only on some TV networks
