Orchard Studios, the new production company founded by former Amazon Studios U.K. exec Dan Grabiner, has hired a trio of heavyweight execs to round out its new senior creative team.
Nat Lippiett, Clare Mottershead and Dani Carpanen have joined the company, which is headed by Grabiner as CEO and managing director Nicola Hill.
Lippiett, an award-winning executive producer, joins the company as head of programmes. A former ITN executive, his credits include “Harry: The Interview” and Prime Video documentary series “The Confession.” Mottershead has been hired as head of factual and formats. She moves over from the BBC where she was lead commissioner in factual entertainment and events, overseeing titles including “The Antiques Roadshow” and “Interior Design Masters.” Carpanen joins as senior producer. She boasts credits on projects such as “The Baby Borrowers” and “Save Our Squad with David Beckham.”

Chris Shaw, Editorial Director of ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 News operator ITN, is exiting the company after four decades.
Shaw has been in his current post for the past five years, during which time he has worked closely with the company’s CEOs on strategy and overseen the likes of Harry: The Interview and The Queen’s Green Planet with Sir David Attenborough.
ITN CEO Rachel Corp paid tribute to “one of the most talented editorial minds to have ever worked across ITN.”
“It’s hard to think of another person who has had so much influence across the business,” she added. “Under his leadership ITN divisions have devised and delivered ground-breaking ideas and programmes that have gone on to win multiple awards and accolades.”
Shaw, who leaves in March to “pursue other media interests and artistic challenges,” said: “I’ve enjoyed a career packed with amazing stories and experiences.

Chris Shaw, editorial director at ITN, the company best known for producing news programming for major U.K. broadcasters, has revealed that he is leaving after a career spanning four decades.
Shaw will leave at the end of March after 45 years in radio and television, 25 of them at ITN, to pursue other media interests and artistic challenges.
During his time at ITN, which began in 1985, Shaw worked in senior roles on ITV News, Channel 4 News and 5 News as well as helping build ITN Productions into an award-winning business. He was responsible for several program launches including “5 News,” “The Wright Stuff,” which is now the “Jeremy Vine Show,” “Sky News” and “Big Breakfast News.” At ITN he has helped win more than 50 industry program awards including Baftas, Griersons, Peabody, Rts Program and News awards and an Oscar nomination.
