I'm not a reviewer, but this episode made me want to post this.

Warning: Spoilers
I never post these and I'm brazilian, so I'll try to express myself the best I can with my limited vocabulary, please bear with me.

This episode got me really emotional since I had a similar experience with my father.

It's goes on like a pretty standard Chicago P. D episode, but the story between Atwater and his father is the main point here.

The episode is 90% focused on Kev's issues when he finds out his father who just got out of jail is envolved on Intelligence's current case. We get to see him struggling to switch off his feelings so he can solve this case, and he does a great job on that.

LaRoyce Hawkins and Erik LaRay Harvey did a great job here, especially at the end where Kev confronts his father.

I hope this won't be another cliché where the father wasn't that bad all along but he gets killed before/after they make amends just for the sake of character development.

Finally an episode anout someone other than Upton

This episode was such a breath of fresh air. It was about Kevin Atwater! He's been pretty closed off about his past but this sheds light on it.

I don't want to share spoilers but it was so nice getting a look into Kevin's closed off past. He gets answers about questions he's had since he was 12 years old and his dad went away. The answers are not at all what he was suspecting and it was a nice change of pace.

I have noticed that Chicago P. D. has been toned down a lot. Voight is way too mellow and he just let's Upton run roughshod over him? Again, this episode was better than most this season but the writers need to go bavk to the first 7 seasons and start making this about all of the characters, not just the blonde bimbo.

Kev

I'm probably in the minority when I say it's hard to take Kev seriously as a cop. He just comes off as too soft and kind (not sure if that is the right descriptor). But I did enjoy him in this episode. Watching how he dealt with the little witness was really sweet. He does have a lot of empathy. And he is nice eye candy :). This episode was very tense and emotional. Well acted by Kev and his dad.

Kim is useless and always has been in my opinion. I have never been able to warm up to her. I see Upton gets a lot of flack on here but my dislike is with Kim. At least Upton is believable as a cop..

"Long Lost"

Warning: Spoilers
Family complications strike the Chicago PD family again.

Whilst staking out the funeral of a gang member, Atwater sees a familiar face: his father, who he hasn't seen in twenty years. Atwater senior is out of jail early, and never told his son.

Whilst Atwater would like to forget he ever saw his dad, that becomes impossible when the funeral gathering is the subject of a drive-by shooting by a rival gang (not for nothing, I saw that one coming a mile away) and suddenly Mr. Atwater becomes a witness to the getaway, thus is on the radar of the intelligence squad, and events carry on from there.

LaRoyce Hawkins did a very good job as a conflicted Atwater, dealing with the most personal of personal cases. His scenes with his dad, right at the end of the episode, are emotionally-charged and very well done.
