This Friday, a brand new creature feature called Stung arrives in theaters and on VOD. The film co-stars the iconic Lance Henriksen as Mayor Caruthers, one of the unfortunate party-goers at a shindig that gets attacked by mutated killer wasps who leave shredded corpses in their wake. Daily Dead recently chatted with Henriksen about the new horror comedy from director Benni Diaz as well as his involvement in several other upcoming projects, including Harbinger Down, and whether or not he’d be up for more Millennium if all goes well with the upcoming revival of Chris Carter’s other popular series, The X-Files.
This movie is a ton of fun—I grew up on a lot of creature features, mostly due to Elvira and her show, and I thought Stung was a great blend of old-school creature campiness with this sort of new-school twist to it.
Lance Henriksen: You know,...

Tokyo 2014 Review: Garm Wars: The Last Druid, Mamoru Oshii Delivers Magic Dogs Amidst Turgid Fantasy
Mamoru Oshii has built a loyal following over the years with his penchant for thought-provoking animated features, 1995's Ghost in the Shell being his masterpiece, but the turgid fantasy stylings of Garm Wars: The Last Druid will test the most ardent fans patience.Opening on the computer-generated world of Annwn, Lance Henriksen begins the first of what will be many interminably long and undecipherable voiceovers attempting to explain this world's mythology. In the beginning there were eight tribes, each with a name more ridiculous than the last that old Lance will read out more than once during the film's runtime. Only three of these tribes now remain, the most powerful being the Briga, who control the land and are aided by the technologically advanced Kumtak in...

Last week in Japan, legendary director Oshii Mamoru's new live-action film Garm Wars: The Last Druid was shown to the public, and rest assured we will chime in soon about it. Reviews have been wildly divided, to say the least, so that should get interesting. Also interesting is that the film is in the English-language, and stars Lance Henriksen in one of the lead roles. Wait, what?! Lance Henriksen has been in awesome movies, good movies, bad movies, awful movies, but he himself is always dependably playing his character, whatever it is, and he'll make it look believable. He is always recognizable but never hammy, even when chewing the scenery, and how difficult is that? He is one of the most consistently great supporting actors...

Notorious Pictures CEO and founder Guglielmo Marchetti told ScreenDaily in an exclusive interview that the €7.5m ($10m) raised through the move would be used to increase acquisitions and enter production.

Even if you’re a complete novice when it comes to anime, chances are that you’ll have at least heard of the likes of “Ghost in the Shell” and “The Sky Crawlers,” and those films both came from the acclaimed Japanese director Mamoru Oshii. He also directed the 2001 live-action movie “Avalon,” and Oshii is now set to make his first live-action English-language film with “The Last Druid: Garm Wars.” The story is described as taking place in a world of war known as Annwyn, where clone soldiers from three military tribes are locked in a perpetual battle of air, land and technology. One clone, Khara, is separated from the battle and finds herself on the run with a group of unlikely companions, and together they seek to know more about their existence. It sounds to us like a project that could work perfectly in anime form, but Oshii looks...
