Fifteen-year-old Timmy Stevens is brutally beaten up by High School bullies on Halloween. Yearning for revenge while carving out a pumpkin head, unknowingly he summons up the evil spirit of the hideous Scarecrow. And before long Timmy has unleashed a mighty supernatural force offering to grant his dark desires to scare his hated enemies to death. Be careful what you wish for! From writer/director Todd Tucker (Monster Mutt), special make-up genius behind Pirates Of The Caribbean, The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, Ouija, Fright Night 2 and Geostorm, a charmingly chilling, affectionately creepy, retro-styled horror for the ages.

The 2016 Los Angeles Film Festival kicks off on Wednesday, June 1st, and this year’s Nightfall lineup looks to be yet another strong selection of genre films set to thrill festival-goers night after night.
For those of you in the southern California area, the 2016 Laff runs through Thursday, June 9th and is calling the ArcLight Culver City Cinema home this year. Here’s a look at what we’re anticipating once the Laff begins later this week, and for more information on the festival, please visit:

Abattoir (directed by Darren Lynn Bousman)
Full disclosure: Abattoir was edited by my significant other, so I am certainly biased, but my enthusiasm for the film comes from my excitement to see Bousman return to the hardboiled world of horror after working on The Devil’s Carnival musicals and his comedy-infused segment in last year’s Tales of Halloween anthology.

On Sunday, January 24th, Fox will bring back Chris Carter’s brilliant series, The X-Files, for a six-episode revival run that will reunite beloved FBI Special Agents Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) for more alien-related exploits.
The last time we saw The X-Files on the airwaves during its initial run was back in May 2002, so if you watched the series throughout its nine seasons, you may be in need of a refresher on all the key players and integral storylines that make up the core mythology of The X-Files.
Mythology in regards to The X-Files could mean various things: the existence of aliens and how our government plays into that, various characters that fit in with different prophecies, the “Black Oil” that became a prominent antagonistic force during season three, the various conspirators and their attempts to derail Mulder and Scully’s work on the X-Files, Scully’s...

We live in a world in which pointless sequels are thrown at us like balls being hurled at an annoying clown in a dunking tank. Yes, that's a given, but sometimes even we have to wonder just what in the world goes through people's minds.
Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Fox Home Entertainment is moving on a sequel to the 2008 teen-friendly snoozer The Haunting of Molly Hartley. The new film, entitled, The Exorcism of Molly Hartley, will see I Spit on Your Grave's Steven R. Monroe taking on directing duties.
Haley Bennett played Molly in the first film. No word on if she’ll return.
Here's our hope... Steven R. Monroe. Please take this to the darkest, most ghastly and horrific place possible. We love you... love us back!
Apparently the sequel follows Molly Hartley, who, after a night of heavy partying, finds her friends butchered. While locked in a mental hospital for observation,...

"A horror icon is reborn." That might be a little too liberal use of the word "icon." Yes, there's been plenty of Leprechaun films in the past, but they've all been B-movie level horror movies (some even worse), many never even hitting the big screen and going straight-to-dvd. But the tiny little bastard is making a comeback with Leprechaun: Origins, and now Lionsgate and WWE Films have released the golden teaser poster for the horror reboot starring wrestler Dylan "Hornswoggle" Postl in the role originated by Warwick Davis. This likely means the first trailer is also coming sometime soon, so stay tuned. Look below! With Tom Holland’s latest series now available on FEARnet and VOD entitled “Twisted Tales” and his group of short stories exclusively for the Kindle, “Untold Tales”, Holland is entering into a new creative stage in his long and varied career as an actor, writer, director, and producer.

There’s also a great update about adapting Stephen King’s “The Ten O’Clock People” showing how both writers are working together to make the story fit more into the modern world.

Ok, wait, so I’m confused. For all intents and purposes, Fright Night 2: New Blood is billing itself as a sequel to 2011′s Fright Night remake starring Anton Yelchin and Colin Farrell, yet it has absolutely nothing to do with the previous project. None of the cast returned, the suburban story isn’t referenced in the least – in fact, it’s quite the opposite. Fright Night 2: New Blood is a spiritual remake all on its own, starting anew with familiar characters thanks to screenwriter Matt Venne. All the characters are named exactly the same, “Evil” Ed yet again starts in human form, Amy is back as Charley’s love interest – the only true change is that Gerri is now a female vampire played by the sultry Jamie Murray.
Unfortunately, Edurdo Rodriguez’s “sequel” is the worst kind of sequel – because it isn’t a sequel at all. Fright Night 2: New Blood...

Originally lensed in 1985, Fright Night, from writer/director Tom Holland (Child’s Play), went on to become a favourite amongst my generation and to this day is still held in very warm regard. The sequel, which followed in 1987, wasn’t as successful as the original, yet remains a much sought after title on DVD and Blu-ray. The original film was remade in 2011 starring Colin Farrell in the vampire role and Fright Night 2: New Blood is a sequel to that remake. With me so far?
Well now it gets a little confusing. This iteration of Fright Night 2 is a remake of the Original Fright Night, not the sequel or the remake, which also throws the legend of Countess Elizabeth Bathory into the mix. Still with me?

Ahead of the home entertainment release of Fright Night 2: New Blood, HeyUGuys had the opportunity to speak with the immortal Gerri Dandridge a.k.a. Jaime Murray. During the course of our conversation she confessed to her habitual tendency to remove the horror from horror films, showed a refusal to define herself as either a Freudian or a Jungian, described a yucky feeling, and spoke about the challenges of unearthing a little gallows humour thanks to realism. Yes, we are still talking about the aforementioned vampire film…

I have nothing against straight-to-dvd sequels to theatrical films. If a movie does minimally well in the theater and there's an audience for a lower-budget and less risky follow-up, I say why not? With that being said, sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. I actually enjoyed 30 Days of Night: Dark Days and even The Scorpion King sequel and prequel. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about Fright Night 2: New Blood.

As usual, let's begin with a brief history lesson.
Fright Night (1985) arrives from Columbia Pictures and writer/director Tom Holland (he'd later go on to direct Child's Play, The Temp, and Thinner), becomes a modest box office hit, and goes on to become a nostalgic favorite among horror fans of a certain age. (Like me.) Essentially a teenager vs. vampire rendition of Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window, the original Fright Night was about a kid who discovers that his new neighbor is a murderous bloodsucker -- but of course nobody believes him. Fright Night Part 2 (1987) reunited the kid (William Ragsdale) and the reluctant hero (Roddy McDowall) from the first movie, but the plot (about a female vampire with a serious grudge) wasn't nearly as novel. Worth a look for fans of the original Fright Night, but certainly nothing too memorable. Fright Night (2011) brought a very amusing Colin Farrell to...

From Here to Eternity I'm going to add this to my Amazon wishlist as I personally love this movie and would love to replace my DVD edition. I've always hated that cover art though.
The Little Mermaid (Two-Disc Diamond Edition) I debated requesting a review copy of this one since I pretty much have every classic Disney film on Blu-ray, and The Little Mermaid is one of the better Disney films. To be honest, I'm not sure why I couldn't muster up enough interest, but I expect it's a fantastic new release.
The Croods Here's a decent little family film and one of the better animated films of the year, but that's not really saying all that much when you consider the only films it's really competing against at this time are Turbo and Despicable Me 2, the latter of which is the only one I would probably watch again of the three.

The “Fright Night” franchise is not dead yet. Not at all.
The somewhat sequel “Fright Night 2: New Blood” is released today on DVD and Blu-ray. In this movie, actress Jamie Murray plays the vampire seductress Gerri who preys over Charley.
This sequel is kind of a remake of the original movie re-introducing the main fan favorite characters of Charley Brewster, Peter Vincent, Ed Bates and Amy Peterson. And the primary adversary is a female vampire instead of suspicious vampire neighbor Jerry.
The horror comedy film introduces a new cast to star alongside Murray with Will Payne, Sean Power, Sacha Parkinson and Chris Waller.
Here’s the synopsis: By day Gerri Dandridge is a sexy professor, but by night she transforms into a real-life vampire with an unquenchable thirst for human blood. So when a group of high school students travel abroad to study in Romania, they find themselves...

This has been quite a year for Eduardo Rodriguez. The man has been toiling in the Hollywood trenches for years, ever since making Curandero. That film, which was shepherded by Robert Rodriguez, unfortunately sat on a shelf awaiting release while Eduardo jumped into television projects like Fear Itself. This year, however, saw the release of not just Curandero (subtitled "Dawn of the Demon") but Stash House, starring Dolf Lundgren. And, next week, comes Eduardo's Fright Night 2: The New Blood. Three films in one year? Not too shabby.
This new installment in the Fright Night legacy is essentially a reboot. A fresh start. "New Blood" as the title says. Although the character names are the same, the "sequel" carries no connection to the original films or the remake that came out in 2011. Eduardo was literally able to start over and put his take on the tale of a young...

“Fright Night” is back for a second round of vampires in “Fright Night 2,” but this time, the vampire isn’t Colin Farrell’s Jerry that people are running from (or running to, if you’re into that sort of thing). This time, there’s a new vampire–a female vampire. Funnily enough, her name is Gerri (nudge, wink). Gerri Dandrige (Jamie Murray) is a dangerous vampire by night who thirsts for human blood, but by day, she’s an enticing and sexy professor. Some students on a trip to Romania become caught in her grasp, and the trip soon becomes a mission to stop Gerri from bathing in the blood of a “new moon virgin,” [ Read More ]

"Welcome to Fright Night for real!"
I thought director Craig Gillespie‘s remake of Fright Night was fantastic. I really enjoyed it, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Fox decided to make a sequel to it, but this one is going straight to Blu-ray and DVD, and it looks like the level of quality that you would see for those kinds of films. In fact, the movie just looks like a remake of Gillespie's 2011 film, only not as good. This time around they decided to sex it up with a female villain vampire that bathes in blood. Here's the synopsis for Fright Night 2: New Blood:

The team behind Fright Night 2: New Blood is trying extremely hard to make sex sell for them, probably because you had no idea that there was a sequel to the remake of Fright Night. But even if you didn’t, you probably won’t be surprised that it’s going Dtv on October 1st. Craig Gillespie’s flick was one of the few remakes of 2011 to even make its budget back and was a lot more fun than its reboot stigma offered, but it looks like they’ve gone with the tried-and-true plot with different ingredients. The most notable is giving Jerry a sex change. Jaime Murray is the vampire this time around, and for some reason, they’re all named Jerry and Charlie Brewster just keeps finding them among the humans. Probably because he’s still a peeping tom. And because when you’re turned into a bloodsucker you legally have to change your...

More visuals have been revealed for Eduardo Rodriguez's Fright Night 2: New Blood. The character Gerri (Jaime Murray), a vampire and teacher, is shown in this unrated clip. Gerri is the antagonist and she would rather drink from, rather than teach her students. Director Rodriguez might be best known for his action thriller El Gringo (2012), starring Scott Adkins. As well, actors Will Payne (Elfie Hopkins) and Chris Waller are featured in this vampiric film. Payne and Waller play two students who discover Gerri's seductive and murderous secrets. Maybe it’s just me and my undying appreciation for all things Jaime Murray, but this trailer for “El Gringo” and “Safe House” director Eduardo Rodriguez’s direct-to-dvd “Fright Night 2″ actually looks better than the first big-budget reboot starring Colin Farrell and Anton Yelchin. Of course, it could just be Jaime Murray vamping it up. Naked. And covered in blood for most of the movie. She sure has Colin Farrell beat, that’s fo sho. “Fright Night 2″ is not really a sequel to the first remake, it’s basically the same movie, with most of the same characters, but transplanted into a new locale and, well, remade … again? I dunno, I guess they figured the formula kind of worked, so why do a sequel, directly or indirectly, when you can just, uh, do it all over again? Yeah, I have no idea what the thinking behind this one was,...

The trailer for Fright Night 2: New Blood has officially been released by Fox Home Entertainment (after being bootlegged not long ago). Eduardo Rodriguez directed the remake/sequel arriving on DVD and Blu-ray October 1st.

The original Fright Night was slick, the reboot was solid, and now we have images from Fright Night 2, a completely unnecessary film made for nothing more than milking the franchise for what its worth on the home entertainment front. We even have a "Gerri Dandridge" female lead vampire played by Jaime Murray, whereas in the first film, and reboot, we had a Jerry Dandridge, played by Chris Sarandon, and then in the remake by Colin Farrell. You'd think there'd be more original writing at play here. Now, we have some folks, who I admit, I've never heard of before in Will Payne playing Charlie Brewster as opposed to Anton Yelchin, and Sean Power as Peter Vincent.

The final DVD cover art for Eduardo Rodriguez's 'Fright Night 2' has been selected! Following a nationwide vote from 3 proposed pieces of art the chosen boxart has been confirmed as the more sensual choice of the trio. The artwork, shown below, features the lovely Jaime Murray ('Spartacus: Gods of the Arena', 'Dexter') sporting her blood soaked lips and her notable fang. Actors Will Payne ('Elfie Hopkins'), Sean Power, Chris Waller and Sacha Parkinson all take on roles previously filled by more A-list names including Colin Farrell ('Horrible Bosses'). Somewhere between a remake and a sequel 'Fright Night 2' heads to DVD and Blu-ray in the Us from 1 October....

Following the trio of posters that are being voted on for use as the official DVD artwork for the upcoming home release of 'Fright Night 2' a brand new trailer has come bombing along adding further to the confusing premise which sounds more like another remake/reimagining than a direct sequel to Craig Gillespie's 2011 do-over. It lands on DVD and Blu-ray stateside on 1 October, will be wrapped in by what looks to be rather unimaginative artwork, and star a whole host of new actors taking on the roles of previous characters we've come to know and watch develop. The gorgeous star of hit BBC series 'Hustle' Jaime Murray -below ('Spartacus: Gods of the Arena') takes the lead vamp role in the remake/sequel(!?) and she is joined by Will Payne ('Elfie Hopkins'), Sean Power, Chris Waller and Sacha Parkinson....
