Even though it gets a bit slow in some parts this is a very interesting documentary about one of the sport of basketballs greatest legends of all time. Even if you are not a big fan of his or the Boston Celtics, it is worth watching because it and he are interesting subject matter. A good story well told.

I timed this documentary with the reading of his autobiography ("Drive"). Now, instead of watching it after the reading, I should have watched it before, because the pictures offer great visualizations about his career highlights. In his book, the thrill of the games is here but the choice for chapters and the lack of statistics make it very difficult to follow his seasons.

I discovered NBA in 1991 thus at the end of Bird career. The only games I remember from him was a 1992 double overtime against Portland and his Dream Team adventure in the 1992 Olympics (games that I have taped on VHS). But this player has always fascinated me because he has a beautiful (and deadly) shooting mechanic.

This documentary shows that he has excellent work ethic as well, that paired with his basketball skills, allowed him to escape a harsh life. How many sports icons have worked in the street department? If Bird appears to be very contradictory too (in his personal and public lives), not the ultimate winner (because his Celtics have lost also a lot of playoffs games even having home court advantage) and surely a black cat (his unluckiness could be underlined), he gives the inspiration to all his sport "legends" partners!
