Exactly one month ago, we saw the teaser trailer for Apple TV+’s post-apocalyptic science fiction series Silo. The first two episodes of the series will premiere on May 5th, with the remaining episodes to be released on a weekly basis every Friday… and with that premiere date quickly closing in on us, a full trailer for Silo has arrived online. You can check it out in the embed above.
According to TV Line, Silo follows the last 10,000 people on Earth as they navigate life in their mile-deep underground home protecting them from the toxic outside world. The catch? No one knows when or why the silo was built and anyone who goes snooping for answers faces fatal consequences.
The series has an impressive cast that includes Rebecca Ferguson (Doctor Sleep), Tim Robbins (The Shawshank Redemption), David Oyelowo (Selma), Common (John Wick: Chapter 2), and Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation...

The trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse only dropped two days ago, but it has already become the most-viewed trailer for the franchise, the highest-viewed second trailer for any recent Marvel film in a 24-hour period, and the highest-viewed superhero trailer of the summer. Deadline reports that the new trailer for the anticipated sequel to the 2018 animated film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse has surpassed that of popular superhero trailers for this summer’s blockbusters, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3‘s 116.9 million views and The Flash‘s 81.6 million views in the first 24-hours with 148.6 million views.
The second trailers for movies usually reveal more in terms of plot and action to give a clearer picture of what the movie contains. Done right, a cliffhanger can be the most effective plot device on television.
The best can leave you tearing out your hair, wishing the next episode was available immediately. The greatest offer mystery by teasing answers but never making the outcome obvious. The worst, the ones that make you want to stop watching a show, are often those that “jump the shark”.
For many years, the benchmark for great cliffhangers was the “Who shot Jr?” storyline on Dallas, the American TV show that caused a media storm in 1980. So widely talked about was the twist that Jimmy Carter even joked about the fictional murder during his second presidential campaign.
The cliffhanger soon developed into something more than just being a “whodunit”. Sitcoms – such as The Office US and Friends – went on to incorporate the device to tease relationships, keeping viewers coming back for resolution. Soaps, from EastEnders to Neighbours, have...

The scripting was heavy as American Idol entered its fifth week of Season 21 auditions on Sunday, an episode which ended with a cliffhanger that felt a little too produced for my liking.
Fire Wilmore, a 22-year-old single mother from Oklahoma, was the final contestant of the evening, and the show played her up big time. We got her entire backstory about entering into state custody because of her own mother’s drug problems. We heard how desperately she wants to get out of exotic dancing and give a better future to her daughter. We even watched Fire teach her 4-year-old charmer how wishing wells work.

Marvel Studios are reportedly developing a live-action adaptation of Marvel Comics "The Illuminati", that debuted in Marvel's "New Avengers" #7 (July 2005) by Brian Michael Bendis and Steve McNiven, conceived as a covert crime-fighting 'think-tank' originally staffed by 'Mister Fantastic', 'Iron Man', 'Professor X', 'Doctor Strange', 'Black Bolt' and 'Namor':
"...'The Illuminati' met in secret, sharing information and strategy, operating relatively successfully...

Both of Hollywood’s premiere comic book franchises are banking on the multiverse in a big way, and we could end up viewing 2022 as either a watershed moment for the genre or the year where the ambitious storytelling experiment failed spectacularly. The Dceu’s Flash movie has added Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck into the mix as alternate versions of Batman, while Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is still to announce a full cast list, but based on how Spider-Man 3 is shaping up, it would appear that nothing and nobody can be ruled out at this stage.
We knew that WandaVision would connect directly to the events of the Sorcerer Supreme’s long awaited sequel, but few could have predicted that Tom Holland’s third solo outing was going to have such a major part to play. The addition of Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Benedict Cumberbatch...

The good news is that work has begun on Doctor Who season 13, despite fears that the BBC flagship show was going to suffer a lengthy delay due to the pandemic. The bad news is that the Covid-19 outbreak has affected the series’ production in some form.
Showrunner Chris Chibnall has confirmed this week that season 13 will have a reduced episode count. In total, it’ll be three installments shorter than usual. The EP told The Mirror that he was “thrilled” to be able to make a new season of Doctor Who at all, though, due to the difficulties in the TV industry that the pandemic has brought about.
Production has now begun on the 10-month shoot, but because of safety protocols that have to be in place, it’ll take much longer to put together each episode, hence the reduction in quantity. As Chibnall said in a statement:

The next McU offering is Disney Plus’ WandaVision, which – as well as ending our long Marvel drought – is a much-anticipated entry in the franchise as it looks set to tee up the expansion of the multiverse in coming movies and TV shows. We know that Elizabeth Olsen will return as Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which will share a few plot threads with the series, and while that’s about all that’s been confirmed right now, we can likely expect a lot of drama, high stakes and even some scares to come.

Current Doctor Who showrunner Chris Chibnall has received his fair share of backlash ever since taking over from Steven Moffat in 2017. But now, after the cliffhanger finale of season 12, a lot of people are asking the BBC to bring back the previous executive producer for Jodie Whittaker’s future runs.
As is the case with every beloved franchise, an era of transition is never easy for fans. Even Moffat had to deal with the same kind of backlash when Russell T. Davies and David Tennant left the show after four seasons. But to say that the Whovian fandom is now more divided than ever would simply be an understatement.
Chibnall has made a number of controversial decisions for the narrative of the rebooted series, most of which essentially undermined years of continuity. Whether it’s the Timeless Child that revealed the Doctor is not from this universe and there’ve...

It now seems fitting that WandaVision will finally herald the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s Phase Four when in an alternate reality of our own, Black Widow already kicked things off six months ago, with The Falcon and the Winter Solider marking the franchise’s official small screen bow in August, and Eternals would’ve no doubt been dominating the box office after being released last weekend.
Of course, with the Coronavirus pandemic ravaging the film and television industry, Marvel’s calendar has undergone multiple reshuffles, which must have caused some headaches behind the scenes given that the McU is an intricately designed puzzle that has to fit together in a specific order to ensure all of the moving parts are ultimately pulling in the same direction.

The coronavirus pandemic hit especially close to home on Monday’s episode of The Good Doctor, when Covid-19 claimed the life of one of St. Bonaventure’s most cherished nurses.
