Film and TV drama co-production training programme Trans Atlantic Partners (Tap) has revelaed its 2016 line-up of 25 producers from across Europe, Canada, and the USA as well as India and South Africa.
Experts taking part in the scheme include producer René Bastian (Cold In July), Matthias Nitschke, senior vice president of business & legal affairs, Studiocanal, Germany, and producer Ilann Girard (Lebanon).
Tap provides case studies of successful trans-Atlantic projects, market intelligence, legal framework and information on sales and distribution. The programme is directed at producers at career mid-level who have produced at least one feature film or TV series.
The two training modules take place in Munich (June 24 – 29) and Halifax, Canada (September 12– 18) where Tap producers will also participate in the Atlantic Film Festival’s Strategic Partners international co-production market.

Pursuing a moviemaking career in Hollywood requires landing an agent, hustling to countless auditions and table reads, networking, and keeping your face in the mix hoping that someone will roll the dice on you. And Shiloh Fernandez ("Red Riding Hood," "White Bird In A Blizzard," "Evil Dead") has done just that with "Queen Of Carthage." Co-written and co-produced by Fernandez, who takes a lead role as well, the film follows Amos who travel to New Zealand to start a new life and escape his past, only to find that some things can't be easily left behind. Keisha Castle-Hughes ("Whale Rider"), Graham Candy and Amanda Tito co-star in the movie, with Mardana M. Mayginnes (who also co-wrote the script) making her sophomore feature film behind the camera.

Exclusive: Cinemax has given a pilot greenlight to Blanco, a drama project which has cast Shiloh Fernandez (Evil Dead) as the lead. Feature director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) will direct the pilot, from Fox TV Studios and Lakeshore Entertainment. Blanco, which had been heating up at Cinemax since the summer, with the producers exploring casting and directing options, was written by Mark Rosner (Blue Bloods). It centers on Ruben (Fernandez), an uptown gangster — nicknamed Blanco for being a light-skinned Dominican — who uses his status as a confidential informant to turn the tables on law enforcement and build his criminal empire. Rosner and Lakeshore’s Gary Lucchesi and Tom Rosenberg are executive producing the pilot with Fresnadillo. Fernandez, repped by Wme, Untitled Entertainment and Jackoway Tyerman, got his break on the cult CBS drama Jericho before segueing to features.
