It's a great start, stunning adaptation.

Rex Fortescue dies horribly in his Office, found with grains in his pocket, Police believe it was a ritual killing. Miss Marple reads of the case in the newspaper, knowing that a former girl in her charge, Gladys, works at Yea Tree Lodge, The Fortescue family home.

It's a wonderful adaptation, it's pretty close to the book to be fair. This first episode gives us the two murders, and there are plenty of suspects in the running.

Miss Marple is hardly in this first installment, it is pretty much focused on The Fortescue family. It's an intriguing web, and a clever mystery, the whole nursery rhyme theme gives it something a little sinister, a little child like.

It's amusing in a way, the staff are all quite funny, The Crumps are hilarious, and Ellen... I've never seen a floor mopped with so little effort.

Fabia Drake is a joy as the batty old Aunt, Miss Henderson, but then all of the characters are terrific.

9/10.
