One of HBO’s former hot properties returns in a big way this January, as True Detective season four finally arrives on the service. Will this be a return to form for the gritty show? Well, that remains unclear, but this time around the anthology series will follow detectives Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) as the long winter darkness in Alaska. When eight people at the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace, these detectives need to get on the case quickly.
Also hitting Max this month is the final season of Sort Of. Season three finds Sabi (Bilal Baig) dealing with the unexpected death of their father, and making some big life choices as a result.

"You don't have as much control as you think you have!" Amazon's Prime Video has revealed the official trailer for a Spanish mystery fantasy action thriller titled Awareness, a film by Spanish filmmaker Daniel Benmayor. This premiered in Spain earlier this year, and will be available for streaming worldwide in October. A teenager lives with his father on the outskirts of modern society and runs small scams with his ability to generate visual illusions upon unsuspecting victims. Things get complicated when his powers get out of control in public, with a mysterious agency coming after him. As he tries to evade capture, Ian discovers he's not the only person with these powers and that his whole life has been a lie. This sounds like a very similar premise to Freaks (2018). Awareness stars Carlos Scholz, Pedro Alonso, María Pedraza, Óscar Jaenada, and Lela Loren. This one also reminds me of Hypnotic,...

Los Angeles, Feb 3 (Ians) Hollywood actor Taylor Lautner was left with body image issues after starring in ‘Twilight’. The 30-year-old actor spent his formative years playing shapeshifter Jacob Black in the series of vampire films based on the books by Stephanie Meyer.
The actor explained that he was later “affected” by having to appear shirtless so often on screen, reports Female First UK.
He said: “When I was in it, when I was 16 through 20 years old, I was starring in this franchise where my character is known for taking his shirt off every other second. No, I did not know that it was affecting me or that it was going to affect me in future with body image. In the first movie, I was 140 lbs and in ‘New Moon’ I was 175, so that wasn’t my natural body. "Are you team Edward or team Jacob?" If part of your middle school and high school years revolved around asking your friends this controversial question, you're probably familar with the film origins of Taylor Lautner, who split the "Twilight" fandom in two when he made his debut as teenage werewolf Jacob Black in 2008. In the nearly 14 years since the film first premiered, Lautner has remained a cultural icon for his performance as the shapeshifting teen. While longtime Twihards still reminisce about Jella fan fiction and Lautner's lengthy hair (it was a wig the whole time), the film franchise took a mental and emotional toll on the star that pushed him to step back from Hollywood.

Former Smiths guitarist turned solo artist Johnny Marr has announced that he will be releasing another album, following The Messenger (2012) and Playland (2014). Call The Comet will be out on June 15th with its first single The Tracers already available for your listening pleasure.
Whilst it isn’t as exciting news as a Smiths reunion, it is still something to look forward to as the Mancunian guitarist has certainly not lost his touch, especially after collaborations with legendary composer Hans Zimmer.
In an interview with NME, Marr said: “Call The Comet’ is my own magic realism.”
“It’s set in the not-too-distant future and is mostly concerned with the idea of an alternative society. The characters in the songs are searching for a new idealism, although there are some personal songs in there too. It’s something that people like me can relate to.”

Taylor Lautner, much like previous teen idol Zac Efron, is a young male actor who became a star after appearing in a string of films marketed towards teens, specifically the Twilight franchise. However, and much like Efron, Lautner’s impenetrable stardom eventually ended with his franchise’s conclusion. Therefore, he then began that awkward transitional period as he tried to escape from the teen idol status that he had been labeled with in order to prove his legitimacy as an actor outside of the Twilight saga. His short lived stints with action (i.e. Abduction, Tracers) and comedy (i.e. Grown Ups 2, The Ridiculous 6) certainly didn’t help. However, Lautner’s latest turn in director Soham Mehta’s debut film, Run the Tide, finally showcases him as a dramatic talent to be reckoned with.

In the years since the Twilight franchise made them megastars, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have worked with a remarkable number of world-class directors: Olivier Assayas, Kelly Reichardt, Woody Allen, Ang Lee, David Cronenberg, Werner Herzog, James Gray. The werewolf leg of that love triangle, however, does not appear to be in similarly prestigious demand. Taylor Lautner has headlined a couple of forgettable thrillers (major points if you could recall even the titles Abduction and Tracers), and been part of the ensemble in a couple of Adam Sandler comedies, but nothing on his post-Twilight résumé is even halfway decent, much less impressive. The exceedingly earnest indie drama Run The Tide seems to be Lautner’s stab at respectability, but he’s chosen poorly—this is bargain-basement schmaltz, too blandly folksy even for Sundance. Sheer toothiness can’t elevate drab material.

With terrible movies you can spew forth all the bile and hatred you want, with good (or great) movies you can rave over each an every aspect that got you excited. Ever since the "Twilight" series wrapped up, Taylor Lautner has been eager to show different sides than what audiences may be used to. He's gone down the comedy road with "Grown Ups 2" and the U.K. series "Cuckoo," and also forged an action path with "Abduction." It's in the vein of the latter that his latest, "Tracers," arrives, allowing the actor show some parkour moves. Directed by Daniel Benmayor ("Paintball"), and featuring Marie Avgeropoulos, Adam Rayner, and Rafi Gavron, the story follows Cam, a New York City bicycle messenger who falls in with a team of parkour artists who use their skills to pull off heists. Bike-messenger boy meets girl, joins her NYC gang of parkour-ing thieves, and winds up in formulaic trouble in Daniel Benmayor's Tracers, a by-the-books B movie only notable for its energetic action choreography. In debt to a loan shark, Cam (Taylor Lautner) ditches cycling in favor of hopping, skipping, and jumping around Manhattan after meeting Nikki (Marie Avgeropoulos), a beauty in league with other one-dimensional urban-athlete twentysomethings who pull off daring heists while dressed like ninjas. Cam is the usual good guy in a bad spot, and his need for cash drives him to join their crew, whose leader, Miller (Adam Rayner), likes to spout faux-philosophical nonsense about striving for new "plateaus." Of course, what initially seems great to Cam even...

A good movie is like a restaurant that serves quality food and lots of it. You can gorge yourself and there will still be plenty to take home. Some of my most distinct movie memories aren’t from watching films, but talking about them afterwards. Cinema brings diverse people into a single place for a communal experience. That’s why when you watch a movie by yourself at home you miss out on half of the pleasure of cinema. If a movie is really good or really bad, at least there is always something to say.

And after Michael Bay’s artless and disgusting Pain & Gain, I nearly lost my voice from shouting at someone who really liked the movie. Taylor Lautner may be an action star, but that doesn't mean he's always fearless. "I am filming in Santa Fe right now and there are so many mice around my house," the actor, 23, tells People. "I go to bed every night afraid that a mouse is going to sleep with me." But don't worry, Lautner still exudes action hero confidence in his new film Tracers. "I did more stunts in this movie than I think I'll do in the rest of my career - very dangerous stunts," he says of working on the film, which also stars Marie Avgeropoulos and is in theaters now.

“The 100” star Marie Avgeropoulos is used to being a badass warrior on The CW post-apocalyptic drama, but she had to learn a whole new set of skills for “Tracers,” which opens Friday. Set in the world of parkour, the film follows a bike messenger, played by Taylor Lautner, who is introduced to the extreme sport by Avgeropoulos’ character. But little does he know that she and her rag tag family don’t just run and jump around for fun, but use the sport to pull off heists. “I was not familiar with parkour at all,” the actress told TheWrap of her.

Taylor Lautner's mundane life takes a dangerous turn in a trailer for Tracers.
Cam (Lautner) is a bike messenger who becomes involved with a cutting-edge parkour gang following a chance encounter with a beautiful woman (Marie Avgeropoulos).
Although life seems more exciting with the gang, Cam is soon over his head when the group turn to crime to fund their parkour exploits.
Tyrant actor Adam Rayner, Olympus Has Fallen's Sam Medina and Divergent star Josh Yadon all have supporting roles in the action thriller.
Director Daniel Benmayor shot Tracers on location in New York City.
Tracers opens in cinemas and is available on iTunes on March 20 in the Us.

I'm one of those "glass half-full "critics when it comes to Taylor Lautner. Film after film I hope he'll pull a Sally Field, who went from The Flying Nun and Gidget to Sybil and Norma Rae. Would Abduction or Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 reveal the young man's inner Laurence Olivier? No, sadly. The lumbering hunk remains just a lumbering hunk in those two. Prize-winning pecs and abs plus a cute smile were what the glamor boy's fans had to settle for.
"Well, maybe Tracers will be his Wuthering Heights," I was murmuring as I scooted onto the subway last night, heading for a midtown screening room. I should have known better. I should have checked out the director's CV before hoping for the best.
The Barcelona-born Daniel Benmayor had previously helmed a Schweppes commercial with Hugh Laurie and two deodorant ads, which would make you think he could avoid creating malodorous art.

Liberated from the clumsy cage of the “Twilight” films, Taylor Lautner stars in “Tracers,” an agreeable, if minor, thriller directed by Daniel Benmayor. Set in the concrete cliffs and canyons of Manhattan, the film kicks off when bike messenger Cam (Lautner) literally runs into Nikki (Marie Avgeropoulos) as she and a gang of like-minded individuals are racing up, around and through the city by means of the free-running art called Parkour. It’s a meet-cute with injuries — a beat-cute, if you will — and after Nikki leaves Cam a bike to replace the one she smashed up, he tries...

Remember that time when Hollywood thought Twilight star Taylor Lautner was going to be the next big movie star? That didn’t quite work out for anyone, did it? But he’s back in an upcoming movie called Tracers, which doesn’t look very promising. It’s described as a parkour action thriller, and this is the synopsis:
“Tracers follows a New York City bicycle messenger, Cam (Lautner) who is the hottest thing on two wheels, but is in debt to an organized crime gang. Even though I enjoy parkour, Lautner just kills the whole thing for me, and it's hard to take seriously. The film was directed by Daniel Benmayor (The Manhunt) and had an army of screenwriters that included Leslie Bohem, Matt Johnson,...

When I was looking at the list of article ideas Brad compiles for us to choose from to write about, I originally glossed this one over. I'd never heard of Tracers, and he listed Taylor Kitsch as the one starring in it, and that did nothing for me. But I figured why not give it a click and see what it isc So, I did. First thing I noticed was Taylor Kitsch was nowhere to be found, instead it was Twilight's Taylor Lautner that was the star of the movie. Some may see Brad's mistake as just a misprint, which it pretty much is, but I thought it represented something a little more. The differences between Taylor Kitsch and Taylor Lautner are minimal, their physicality aside. They are both bland actors being forced on us to like. They also make me think "Who really caresc" I certainly do not. Is...

If you thought we'd seen the last of mannequin actor Taylor Lautner, think again. The star of The Twilight Saga is back, and he's still trying really hard to be a real boy with his latest role in the action thriller Traces. This time, Lautner uses his physical prowess to partake in parkour, making him a reliable bike messenger in New York City. After meeting a young woman named Nikki (Marie Avgeropoulos), learns that he can make some serious cash if he uses his developing parkour skills to help a group of street criminals pull off some heists. It looks about as generic as you'd expect, and sadly, not even the action looks all that fun. It would be better if this were about Brodie Bruce and a team of fellow comic book inkers battling injustice. Here's the first international trailer for Daniel Benmayor's Tracers from Mongkol Major:...
