Magic Carpet Ride

Doesn't feel disconnected at all

'Phineas and Ferb' was so good in helping me through my tough periods during its run, which were many. Still do get a lot of pleasure out of watching re-runs of what was, when airing, one of the few shows on the Disney Channel regularly worth bothering with. Admittedly the later episodes are not quite on the same level as the more creative earlier seasons, but 'Phineas and Ferb' at its weakest still managed generally to be better than a lot of animated shows recently at their best.
Neither "Candace Disconnected" or "Magic Carpet Ride" are among the best of 'Phineas and Ferb'. Both however are very well done, actually thought as a matter of fact that "Candace Disconnected" was great and a lot more consistent story-wise, as well as different. There is a lot to like about "Magic Carpet Ride", though it's not particularly original other than the boys' plan and one subplot for my tastes fares better than the other (which has been the case at times with the show).
There are plenty of great things that both have in common. The animation is bright and colourful, with such vibrant colours that literally pop out at you and beautifully detailed backgrounds. The music is in the style that is not usually my style of choice when listening to music, but it is very catchy and pleasant to listen to. The theme song is irresistible with a melody that sticks in the head for days without being an earworm and with very quotable lyrics.
Writing is very smart and manages to not be too juvenile for adults and not too complex for kids. It is particularly good in the main plot for "Candace Disconnected". Both stories are lively and nicely executed, again especially "Candace Disconnected". Which is more inventive in its main plot, but all round very cleverly executed.
As has been reiterated already, "Magic Carpet Ride" is good fun and lively, though the main plot is fairly predictable and would have liked more variety in Candace's busting attempts which are formulaic. Personally did find the Doofenschmirtz subplot a lot more memorable in that episode (nice to see Norman again), while preferring the one even more in "Candace Disconnected" due to seeing more Perry and Doofenschmirtz interaction which is always a bonus.
Character writing and interaction are on point, especially Perry (adorable and resourceful as usual) and the wonderfully wacky Doofenschmirtz, and cannot fault the voice acting either.
In conclusion, very well done though a case of one episode being great and the other being solid. 8/10.
