Pretty Funny Stuff
gavin694228 November 2014
With his unique brand of youthful storytelling Donald Glover brings down the house in his hysterical stand-up special Weirdo.

Of course, most people know Donald Glover from "Community". They may know him from some Internet skits, or possibly his rap persona Childish Gambino, but it all more or less leads back to "Community". So it is great to see him branching out a bit.

The comedy here is quite good, with the topic of race coming up without ever getting too heavy. Glover speaks to his generation in a way that Eddie Murphy or Bill Cosby never could. He does good voices, and also has more than his share of valuable insights. If he came through here, he would be a big hit.

I already was a fan of his show community and his music, so i decided to watch his stand up and... it was a m a z i n g, his story telling his delivery, his stand up isn't just unrelated joke after joke, he makes you care about his story with his amazing storytelling and i can guarantee you will laugh many times during this special. enjoy

It's really fun, good for cooling off after a long week. Some of the jokes wouldn't really fly today, but it's not untasteful or anything. You might not cry from laughter but it sure guarantees a few giggles at the very least.

Comedy of great quality

Until now I only saw Donald Glover in Community. And while the show is alright I never loved him in it so much to be interested in his stand up material. But it ended up being way funnier than I expected.

He really has a sort of unique sense of humor and can present his jokes in a very charismatic way. And he goes through many topics. Children, who I agree with him are like "little Hitlers". Race, but in a very fun and not tiring way. And just everyday stuff that one can see as a bit weird. Great comedian would watch him again.

Izzy Abdus-Sabur Makes Jokes About Homeless People, Race, and Sex
ktallon00829 November 2014
I guess I need this to be about ten lines, so I'll just write some filler content in order to have something of the appropriate length. Sometimes I take things too far, I guess, but sometimes I take them just far enough. Usually by writing exactly ten lines. Are you a fan of Izzy Abdus-Sabur? Are you a fan of comedy? Are you a fan of tales of babysitting, homeless people, race, and sex? Do you have an opinion on whether or not Spiderman could be black? If you answered "Yes" to any of these questions, you should totally watch this comedy special. He makes so many jokes. It's hilarious.

10/10 would watch again.

weirdo

Exactly what it says, a weird, niche sense of humor.

This special adds to the already vast and exquisite artistic range of now comedian donald glover.

Jokes that may not be allowed in todays society are on full display, and donald glover is a young burst of energy yelling and going all across the stage to give us a laugh.

Highly recommend this, as it's a very human and even vulnerable special.

Although this is highly awesome, its never going to be a rolling on the floor laughing type of special. It does its thing, as a very funny, clever, and exciting special, but its not crying laughing funny.. i would absolutely recommend this to my friends, even if i doubt their confidence in his weirdness.

Very Hit and Miss

This special with Donald Glover is actually one of the better stand-up routines I have seen for providing me with actual laughter rather than just being entertaining (Louie C.K., Daniel Tosh, Jim Gaffigan, Chris Rock). Donald Glover is a pretty great physical performer and has facial expression ability similar to Jim Carrey. A lot of the time, the biggest laughs actually come after the jokes. You might think that joke was not that funny, but Glover is able to save the joke after it is told.

While Glover does deal with race for a few jokes, he deals with it in a much more unique way than many black comedians who really use a lot of stereotypical humor (Think Leslie Jones on SNL who is just dreadful).

If you got 60 minutes to kill and want to laugh about 10-20 times, this should do the trick.

The 5/10 rating is based on how much I laughed in terms of how many jokes were told. It was about 50/50. I have seen stand-up routines where I have laughed 95% of the time.

The man is not funny. Sorry, not sorry. Hype Does Not Make You Funny.

Just let this man make music. Why make Standup comic goers suffer? Community was funny in spite Glover and not because of him.
