What a strange movie
BandSAboutMovies23 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Disclaimer: The version on Tubi says it was made in 2022.

A giant sea serpent - much like the Loch Ness Monster - called Willatuk has been in the waters of Seattle for a long time. Well, at least as far back as 2012, when director O. W. Tuthill made Seattle's Loch Ness: The Lake Washington Sea Monster.

Now, he's showing how the residents of Seattle deal with the monster, like Chief Clamintile of the Wonkatilla Tribe, whose people worship it as the God of Ocean, or the hunter (Dan Schwert) who has been brought up by his father to kill the beast.

It's all narrated by Graham Greene and the director/writer is better known for his music work, so that sounds good. I'm kind of astounded by this because a movie that has a horrific monster poster ends up being about interfamily strife and how we deal with the world. Of course, some of the actors are better than others, but this is an oddball movie that just worked for me, as it has a vision and didn't get notes from anyone. It's very much it's own movie.

Abysmal, Amateurish Video Account of A Mythical Seattle Sea Monster
ordleoccupando4 December 2022
At 61 minutes, this not a feature film--it's not an actual horror movie either, more of an assemblage of poorly lit and blocked footage assembled into a story about an evil white man "hunter" and gun nut, who for some reason wants to kill the titular creature.

The producer/director/writer (same person) also threw in some story details about pollution, exploitation of the environment by the white man, a confusing documentary section about alleged sightings of the creature 100 years ago.

The music is actually pretty good, not surprising as the man behind the picture is mostly known for his music career, rather than his film making skills.

Not worth anyone's time unless they want to see footage of Seattle's Lake Washington, Mercer Island etc.

Even as a no-budget, "monster" movie, there are many other features for free out there that are better, if you want to kill some time.

Entertaining and Unique Film

I really enjoyed this film. It involved a unique and interesting story that encompassed myth with narrative storytelling. It led you to wonder, what is true and what is not about the Loch Ness monster of Seattle? Also, I appreciated the myriad of quirky characters who were all a part of the story and how the monster and the mythology around it affected them. Also to enjoy in this film is the beautiful cinematography capturing Seattle and surrounding areas, as well as the hauntingly beautiful soundtrack. Standout performances involve Dan Schwert as a hunter after the creature, his diabolical parents and the powerful narration from Dances with the Wolves Oscar nominee, Graham Greene. Memorable and well worth watching!
