Here's the new voice of Kermit The Frog, Matt Vogel, in his first clip since replacing longtime puppeteer Steve Whitmire...
Kermit The Frog was recast in rather sad circumstances a while back.

Steve Whitmire, who had held the position of the Muppet's puppeteer and voice for 27 years, was essentially fired from the role, and immediately replaced by Matt Vogel, who had also been working for the Studio for over two decades.
Whitmire wasn't happy about the move, and you can read all about that below, but this week a new Muppets Thought of the Week has appeared on YouTube, confirmed to be the first appearance of Kermit as voiced by Vogel.
Watch it here.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: In light of the recent “Roseanne” revival news, which sitcom would you like to see a revival of? (Let’s assume this is feasible from a network, talent, production, etc. standpoint.)
Liz Shannon Miller (@lizlet), IndieWire
So many great sitcoms are personality driven, which makes it hard to remember great premises worth reviving. (And also, when I think about some of my ‘90s favorites, like “Step by Step” or “Friends,” it’s like… Oh, maybe there’s nothing new under the sun.)
But, beyond my eternal wish that someone would remake “Almost Human” as an adorable rom-com about Karl Urban and Robot Michael Ealy falling in...

If you've long dreamed of The Muppets rapping Nwa's 'Express Yourself', first of all, consider seeing a doctor, and second of all, you're going to love this mash-up.
Devised by YouTuber Animal Robot, it combines footage from films such as 1979's The Muppet Movie with one of the best tracks ever to come straight outta Compton.
Going viral just after the Nwa biopic - called, of course, Straight Outta Compton - hit the number one spot at the Us box office, this muppetational masterpiece reminds us of Plants vs Zombies artist Rich Werner's similar gangsta / Gonzo crossover.

This week, "Muppets Most Wanted" barges into theaters, and with it a whole host of crazy characters both familiar (Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Animal) and relatively new (the indistinct Walter, '80s Robot). The Muppets have always been unforgettable characters, but just how well you remember some of the more obscure characters depends largely on your dedication to Muppet lore and how much time you enjoy spending outdoors.
Still, we thought it would be a fun time to take a look back of the Muppets that you might not remember (or even know were Muppets). It's hard not to get choked up at the scope and depth of creation that Jim Henson and his talented confederates were able to conjure with bits of felt and halved ping pong balls. Henson died tragically more than 25 years ago, and his legacy remains as fresh and inventive as ever. These are creations that...

Throughout the day, Fox and Empire magazine will unveil what we can only presume is the entire slate of characters from their forthcoming, unnecessarily convoluted superhero epic "X-Men: Days of Future Past." A total of 25 different covers to a new issue of the magazine will be revealed throughout the day (so keep coming back, please), each featuring a different mutant superhero. This is going to get wacky!
"X-Men: Days of Future Past" features a twisty-turny plot that involves both time travel and alternate dimensions, not to mention the casts from the original "X-Men" trilogy (which began with Bryan Singer's original 2000 film) and the younger, sexier cast of 2011's swinging sixties entry "X-Men: First Class." That means that both Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy will be playing the same character in the same movie at different points in the space/time continuum. Should be pretty easy to figure out, especially...

The 2014 Academy Award nominations were announced this week and the relative snubbing of Captain Phillips, Saving Mr Banks, Inside Llewyn Davis and GI Joe: Retaliation is going to have us all cursing the Academy and discussing the actual quality of American Hustle until about May.
Nonetheless one of the great tragedies of my life is that I cannot actually watch absolutely everything ever that comes out and try as I might to rectify this, there simply are not enough hours in the day. There are a couple of films available on the streaming services that have just been nominated for academy awards this week which I have not had a chance to see thus far.
Those films are; The Square, nominated for Best Documentary Feature and now available on Netflix. The Square is about the uprising in Egypt in early 2011 that made the news around the world and the circumstances around this.

Picking ten artists out of the vast array of talent working in comics today is an impossible task. These artists were chosen based on the uniqueness of their style compared to the “house” style of Marvel and DC, their ability to create character, setting, and plot through their art, and also on the quality of the covers that they’ve done. All of the artists on this list have regular interior work so artists like J.H. Williams, Bryan Lee O’Malley, and Alex Ross can’t be found here (even though Alex Ross’ Justice League is the cover image). Without further ado (and in honor of the late Wizard magazine), here are the top ten hottest current artists in comics in no particular order.

As we’ve been reporting, Syfy had its Upfront presentation to potential advertisers Wednesday night, and they spent yesterday issuing press releases. It’s a good thing they held the event at a pier, as there is a boatload of information included in the summary press release below. We made sure to get it posted before the weekend, since it will take you the entire weekend to absorb it all.
Some of it is information we’ve already posted, like the Ringworld and Childhood’s End development and the High Moon pilot production, some of it we posted about fairly recently, like Ronald D. Moore‘s Helix, some of it we haven’t heard about in quite some time, like Orion, Proof, and Dominion, and some, like the nonscripted shows, the anthology, and some of the projects announced, are news to us.
You’ll also see ratings info and other...

Pier Paolo Pasolini’S Trilogy Of Life (Criterion) Pier Paolo Pasolini was Italy’s last Neo-Realist, a product of post-ww II Europe who was fervently Catholic, openly gay, defiantly Marxist, and one of the most original voices of the 20th century’s second half. Before his brutal murder in 1975 (after the premiere of his still-controversial swan song, “Salo”), Pasolini directed a trilogy of films based on masterpieces of medieval literature: Boccaccio’s “The Decameron,” Chaucer’s “The Canterbury Tales,” and “The Thousand and One Nights (also known as “The Arabian Nights”). The three films celebrate the uninhibited, earthy, raw carnal nature of the original texts, leaving little to the imagination, but also offering Pasolini’s own very unique and pointed views on modern society, consumerism, religious and sexual mores (and hypocrisies), and an unexpurgated celebration of the human body, both male and female. Breaking News: Syfy Announces New Scripted and Reality Programming Including Stephen King Adaptation
Syfy is having its Upfront tonight, during which they present their schedule and slate of projects in development to potential advertisers, and the announcements are flowing. An adaptation of a Stephen King novel into a miniseries, a new Charlaine Harris weekly series, a great movie being adapted into a weekly series, and a whole load of new reality shows may be in our future. Where to begin? We’ll break this down into manageable bites, but have included the entire press release below for your study.
First up, new series! We’ve already told you about some of these, but now we’re getting official word. For scripted series, Syfy is now confirming that Defiance, the series that will affect and be affected by the game of the same name, will be coming in 2013.
All other new series on or soon to be on the schedule are unscripted/reality shows – eight of em!

So what's next for the channel that has given us plenty of things that have gone bump in the night along with more CG monsters than anyone could possibly keep up with? Read on for details of Syfy's "upfront" presentation.
As you'd expect from a network named Syfy, several of these projects are more sci-fi than horror, but we thought we'd pass on all the news anyway:

Planet Egg
Directed and Conceived by Zvi Sahar
Produced by Ali Sky Bennett
Here Theaters
April 6 through 8, 2012 (Closed)
A new sub-genre of puppetry called Puppet Cinema by its creator, Zvi Sahar, took the stage, or rather the stage and screen, on Easter Weekend: a work entitled Planet Egg. This is puppetry in the mode of video-projected microsurgery. Its workings will take some explaining (so all those suffering from Add please take an extra pill before reading further).
In the center of the stage is a medium-sized video projection screen. To the left is the puppeteers' work area ("the set"), consisting of a yard-wide revolving fixed form upon which the puppeteers have modeled the surface of a miniature planet with a moon-like landscape of plains and hills and very small, down-to-tiny objects. Lights and an auto-remote video camera are trained on this miniature set. What the camera captures is fed to the video screen.

They can be clanking or lithe, as big as a planet or as small as a puppy. Here’s our list of cinema's 50 finest robots and AI computers…
Who doesn’t love robots? Our metal friends have long been a source of inspiration, wonder and fear for filmmakers and audiences. A way to examine our own humanity, and view emotions – or lack of them – from a new perspective, artificial intelligence has been in films for almost as long as we’ve been making them. We seem drawn to them, more often that not casting them as our creations gone rogue and seeking to rise up against us, but sometimes as tragic figures wanting to be more like us. Either way, they’re fascinating, and pretty damn cool.

Here's a newly-discovered short film from Jim Henson called Robot, which he shot in 1963 after being commissioned to create something for a Bell System business seminar on Data Communications. [via Slashfilm] To promote their line of Avengers movie tie-in gear, Target has unleashed this funny video featuring a bunch of little kids as The Avengers, proving that superheroes come in all sizes. Finally, Harry Knowles of Ain't It Cool News fame has launched a new online short for Nerdist called Ain't It Cool. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was set to play one of a trio of Australian bandits in QuentinTarantino's Django Unchained, but he now tells MTV he had to drop out of the role due to a scheduling conflict with his directorial debut, Don Jon's Addiction. He tells the site, "No, I'm not going to get to do that. I'd love to, but it just doesn't work. I've been in touch with Quentin about it, and it was so cool to trust me to do this little part in his movie. I would have loved, loved to have done it. He's one of my very favorite filmmakers, and he was really supportive of me directing, and that meant the world to me." [source] The full cast for Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger's The Tomb has been revealed with Vincent D'Onofrio, Vinnie Jones, Amy Ryan and 50 Cent joining Sly, Arnold and the previously cast James Caviezel.

The I Love You, Man and Forgetting Sarah Marshall star isn't moving forward with the sequel to the 2011 film. Are you super bummed out by this? Do you need a moment to let this sink in? No, okay we’ll move on then. This is what Mr. Segel has to say about the whole thing:...

Hey y'all! Are you ready for some Os-Cars?? This year, Billy Crystal hosts, Meryl Streep, Glenn Close, Nick Nolte, Christopher Plummer and Martin Scorsese number among the celebrated nominees.... Wtf is it 1985?? Yes, the Academy is going retro, celebrating the history of movies, and not just by lauding "The Artist" and "Hugo." Yeah, there are some newbies and left-field pics, but those kinda feel like shots in the dark at attempting to stay relevant (Rooney Mara, so edgy right now). Who could forget the breaking news from this week that the Academy is only old white men? Total Shocker. But we will attempt to find some fun in the proceedings, and dream of a George Clooney and Tilda Swinton hosted ceremony, where they perform a song and dance routine in matching tuxedos... what, oh sorry I drifted off into a daydream there. Instead, we will try and muddle through...
