Who knows? Interesting case.
Sleepin_Dragon6 November 2022
Patrick Mullins is found dead, floating in the water a week after his unmanned boat is found abandoned, with no blood or signs of a disturbance in board.

Very good, intriguing mystery, thoughtful and insightful interviews, this was very much an unsolved mystery, doing a little reading around this case, there are multiple theories, including Damon, including witnessing something, I'm not sure the answers will be found to Pat's death.

It was quite obvious that absolutely no proper investigation was carried out at the time, clearly easier to just put it down as suicide. There is no way that he killed himself in that boat, and there is no way that he was in that stretch of water for ten days, just look at that wildlife that lives in that area, no chance.

Would an investigation have been fruitless, was it too expensive, or did the authorities simply not want to tread on the wrong toes, there was definitely something underhanded happening.

A very interesting watch, 8/10.

Interesting, well presented

Very solid production, good job.

I have to say I thought this was the first episode of the first series and I was somehow disappointed (expected the show to start with something crazy) but: this is well told, sad, sad story that do deserve to be told.

The postproduction team did a great job with the visuals explanations: map, boat, directions, and so on helps a lot in being more clear about what was going on.

Usual high level job from Netflix when it comes to interviews, several people speaks very clearly and are on point when it comes to the mystery itself: what happened to a kind hearted man who went missing? No one believes the suicide explanation from the cops.

Wrong Place. Wrong Time.

Warning: Spoilers
The Body in the Bay is another strong, disturbing episode. Well told with a mix of facts and opinions, suicide seems much less likely than foul play. No motive for suicide is ever suggested. Good family life, happy with work, nice home location on the water, and retirement approaching. No gambling, no affair, no change in behavior.

A shotgun is not the weapon one would choose to commit suicide, especially out on the water in a boat. The state of the remains does jot jibe with 8-9 days in the water. The rope is excessive and unnecessarily elaborate. Where was the shotgun if it was suicide? The gun would be there near the anchor. Did Mullins come across criminal activity by accident? Did he see Damon's boat (with red paint) and approach assuming there was motor trouble, only to find drug running taking place?

Damon's restaurant went out of business, suggesting financial difficulties. Damon's behavior became erratic in the aftermath of the death of Patrick. He was using meth. He died of an overdose a few years after the mysterious death. Being at the wrong place at the wrong time may well have led to an unplanned murder, possibly by a criminal working with Damon.

Foul play seems far more likely than suicide. Condolences to the family.

Unsolved Mysteries.

Warning: Spoilers
Patrick Mullins' unmanned boat is found miles from his home. When his body surfaces a week later, authorities are left with more questions than answers.

Seems like they solved it to me. Certainly murder, not suicide, by Damon. He wasn't friends with him, the paint on the boat matched, he lived in the exact area, he tied the rope the exact same way, making a big deal about someone he barely knew more than once. It doesn't change anything, as Damon died from an overdose, but it seems solved to me. The corrupt video file is a little suspicious and it looks like lazy detective work to call it a suicide.

Suicide

That man killed himself in the family, Hass to believe that I know they don't want to believe it. He learned how to tie a knot. He shot himself in the head, put an anchor weight, and he didn't wanna live anymore point-blank. The wife obviously didn't know her husband and a lot of people hide things from their intimate partners where you are in disbelief because you think how could they do this I would've saw a sign no people suffer in silence. Nobody kill that man he probably didn't wanna retire didn't want to say with the wife anymore. Really terrible way to die. I hope he's resting in peace in the family can get some closure.
