Underrated Chinese War movie
afdhal-9012411 January 2024
This film definitely deserves more attention considering how well its done in depicting the China's involvement during the 1950 Korean War. ITS ACTION PACKED AND FAST PACED. Many will call it a propaganda movie but so was the Hollywood's war movies. Take that out and just enjoy the film. The props are well done, the dialogues of the US men are quite cringy and not so US military-like but thats okay. The sounds are quite loud but thats just how real battles are which completely understandable. The CGIs are quite obvious but pretty decent. Overall this movie deserves more attention. Definitely recommended to watch.

Pro Chinese war film but quite good

Just watched this movie on YouTube and it was quite good. It's a completely pro Chinese propaganda but knowing and reading many books it happens to be very accurate. The Chinese definitely ambushed American forces retreating from the Yalu river and without any AirPower pushed American forces into a serious retreat. MacArthur got cocky and did think the Chinese would enter the war. Boy was he wrong.the movie was highly nationalistic and the actors seemed ok but I spent my whole war movie life watching American made movies that glorify America this is a interesting twist. Action scenes were exceptional. I recommend wholeheartedly.

the trash without any highlight

Just one of the most boring movies i saw.

All characters are so pale and even i consider that everyone in this movie is just the instrument to promote the farfetched story.

What's more ,the voice is too loud but you can only feel noisy instead of touching your heart.

The plot is just fragmentization and the unaccountable camera movement(such as rotation). I feel that maybe it is stitched by the short videos from TikTok.

All in all.there isn't any points can catch my eyes in this movie and the boredom overwhelm me during the experience. However i play my phone all two hours in cinema and i feel angry and disgusted now.

A catastrophic movie

Warning: Spoilers
If "Farewell My Concubine" is the comma of Chen Kaige's directing, then "Volunteers: The Male Soldiers Strike" can be said to be the period of Chen Kaige's and even this era of Chinese movies.

In the film, even a child without any knowledge of film studies, can be seen in the film on the great abuse of the swing arm, the most abstract is the two-person cultural drama camera can be around the person three times in a row, even the French director Godard in the VIVRE SA VIE have not been so experimental filming dialog, director Chen Kaige can be said to be quite bold. You can have fun, but...

The coherence of the movie is played like a child's play. The movie keeps stirring up the nerves of the audience, just like an advertisement or a trailer, and one doesn't know when the movie will start, and the inclusion of the Internationale seems to be a deliberate choice for the sake of political correctness. Passed out in the theater

Piling on a slice of feel-bad special effects war drama like a page-turner advertisement with the pace of the entire movie, was I watching a jitterbug mash-up of war history? Or was it a movie by Cannes Palme d'Or-winning director Chen Kaige?

A war history movie is obviously mixed with private goods, the intention is not even to record history, but at this point in time to stir up nationalist sentiment to the end of the montage can not help but let a person have the illusion that this is the Wolf Warrior 3?

The face of the aggressor to anti-war is not wrong, but the film as an important medium of philosophical ideological output, at this point in time seems to have become a completely promote the war wolves emotions of the film.

If the run at the end of Francis Truffaut's The 400 Blows changed world cinema, then the moment Wu Jing raises his flag in War Wolf changed Chinese movie history.

Chen Kaige you've been kidnapped just blink.

very intense, fast paced and exciting!

It's a very fast paced movie! It feels like the entire film is all climax, but in a good way. I watched it in theaters, and the experience was very enjoyable, in my opinion, and it kept me hyper for the entire two hours and seventeen minutes!

The camera movements are very creative, and are executed very well to show perspective.

Very patriotic, very emotional story that demonstrates the courage and determination of the Chinese soldiers. Very inspiring. (If you're feeling burnt out of cross country, watch this movie.)

It may be somewhat offensive, though, since it's told from China's perspective, and the portrayal of Americans are a bit whacky, so it might not be suitable for everyone, especially those who are not Chinese/dislike the Chinese government.

But as long as you are not too petty on political perspective, you should be able to enjoy the movie like usual. Overall, I very much recommend!
