The Easter long weekend is that time of year where it's finally starting to warm up but not enough to throw on a swim suit and hang out by the pool. You're most likely going to spend a lot of time eating, drinking, and drinking some more with family. It's good to find an activity that gets you out of the house and that everyone can enjoy. That's why we've put together this guide!
Plan a trip to your neighborhood Cineplex and let everyone sit back, relax, and enjoy a much needed cinematic experience. Regardless of who you're with (kids, friends, a date, even if you're stuck at home) we've got you covered. What to Watch with...

A post shared by Tommy Dorfman (@tommy.dorfman) on Apr 9, 2017 at 7:16pm Pdt Back in 2013, a viral tattoo movement known as Project Semicolon popped up thanks to Amy Bleuel, who got the punctuation mark inked in honor of her father, whom she lost to suicide. Since then, thousands of people all over the world have gone on to get identical tattoos to represent the importance of suicide prevention and their own mental health struggles, because it symbolizes that "this is not the end, but a new beginning." 13 Reasons Why stars Tommy Dorfman and Alisha Boe were joined by the show's executive producer, Selena Gomez, in getting their own semicolon tattoos on Sunday, which were done as a tribute to the drama's deft handling of suicide, and Amy, who recently took her own life. "Today was a magical day. Another day to be grateful to be alive. Alisha, Selena, and...

Without Selena Gomez and her mom, Mandy Teefey, Netflix's 13 Reasons Why would not exist. The unstoppable mother-daughter pair celebrated their roles as executive producers on the teen drama at the show's La premiere on Thursday, where they hit the red carpet in style. Selena rocked a gorgeous, glowing orange gown, while her mom stuck with classic black, and both sported a matching shade of bright blue nail polish that a character wears in the show. Cute, right? The "Only You" singer then posed for photos with lead actors Dylan Minnette and Katherine Langford before giggling in a group photo with the rest of the cast. During the event, Mandy was about her daughter's permanent glow, which she credited to the brief break Selena took from the spotlight last year. "I think it was actually [from] taking a break," she said. "You asked what it is [like] to feel like you're in this world,...

Michael Phelps channeled Eminem for his performance of "Lose Yourself" on Lip Sync Battle's first live show on Sunday night, but - sorry, Mike - that was nothing compared to John Legend's time on stage. As his wife, Chrissy Teigen, watched from her DJ booth, the singer perfectly mouthed the words to Outkast's hit "Hey Ya." Not only did John show off his flawless lip-syncing skills while Stevie Wonder handled the keyboard, but he also re-created the song's iconic music video, complete with a green shirt, plaid pants, and André 3000's long hair. We hope John and Chrissy's daughter, Luna, was watching every amazing moment from backstage. Related Stories:Stevie Wonder Brings James Corden to Tears in an Epic Carpool Karaoke Session...

Michael Phelps wasn’t listening to Eminem when he made the face that was meme’d around the world at the Rio Olympics — that was Future’s “Stick.” But on Sunday’s live, all-star version of “Lip Sync Battle” on Spike, the swimmer showed some love for Slim by performing the Detroit rapper’s 2002 hit “Lose Yourself.” The setting and costuming, while slightly reminiscent of Mugatu’s “Derelicte” fashion show in “Zoolander,” was nonetheless pitch-perfect. And Phelps clearly has felt the words, felt his knees weak, palms sweaty and knows what it’s like to choke. The result was a...

For all of its streetwise corniness, Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” did get one thing right: In the music business, you only get one shot. So you really cannot miss your chance to blow. (This opportunity comes once in a lifetime…and so on and so forth.)
Unfortunately, even when an artist does in fact “blow” (in the good way) on their first shot, it doesn’t necessarily mean the public is going to embrace them in the future. Thus…one-hit wonders. Those poor souls who get just a taste of fame before being unceremoniously booted off the face of the pop music landscape for the rest of their careers.
Of course, that’s not to say these musicians all just stop doing their thing. Some of them go on to have low-key, modestly successful careers. But others do throw in the towel soon after their sudden drop in popularity.

Taylor Swift can't be put into a musical box. Her evolution from country music's favorite darling to pop music's fiercest competitor is just one example of that. But another genre Taylor isn't afraid to tap into is hip-hop. She showcased her impressive rap skills when she covered Eminem's single "Lose Yourself" on tour. “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” “Moon River.” “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.” “Lose Yourself.” There’s no question that original songs that began in movies have become iconic pieces of both composing and filmmaking. And yet the Academy Award for Best Original Song is frequently one of Oscar’s most derided categories. To some extent, this is because songwriting is not exactly cinematic in the sense of the other crafts recognized by the Academy. There’s also the fact that the Oscar race frequently goes slightly haywire. The music branch never ceases to amaze in terms of the types of films that earn the moniker “Oscar nominee” due to this category, primarily because the films are obscure (for example, “Chasing Ice,” “Paris 36”). Various interventions have been proposed over the years, from having less than five nominees to having voters give ratings to (and this, arguably, “vote against”) some contenders to...

13 years ago today, Eminem began what remains his longest stay atop the Billboard Hot 100 when “Lose Yourself” reached No. 1. The rap hit held onto the top spot for 12 weeks. Written during breaks on set while filming “8 Mile,” the song loosely follows the storyline of the leading character’s struggle to break from poverty and launch a rap career. Eminem created an intense and memorable sound for the song with a moody electric guitar riff and his trademark tinkling piano punctuating hip-hop beats. Its stay atop the chart began a day after the theatrical release of “8 Mile.” The track was the first rap song to ever win an Oscar for Best Original Song, beating fellow nominees U2 and Paul Simon. I posted my review of Aziz Ansari's "Master of None" last week. Netflix's binge-release business model makes episodic reviews impractical (I've tried a hybrid model with "Orange Is the New Black" the last few seasons, with very mixed success), so I thought I would try something different. You already know my overall thoughts from the prior piece, so I'm going to offer up quick thoughts on each individual episode (with spoilers for all), coming up just as soon as I begin the night with an aggressive Cartman impression... Episode 1: Plan B The broken condom anecdote is pretty terrific and unusual as a way into the Dev/Rachel relationship that will play out over the rest of the season. Like so much of the show, the devil winds up being in the details, like the way the Uber driver is blasting rap music to make things extra uncomfortable for them.

In Aziz Ansari's new Netflix comedy "Master of None," the "Parks and Recreation" alum plays an actor named Dev, his real parents play Dev's parents, there's a running subplot where he takes a supporting role in a "black virus movie" called "The Sickening," and there are cameo opportunities for everyone from Claire Danes to Busta Rhymes. With that description, it would be safe to assume "Master of None" would be another showbiz navel-gazer, made by people — Ansari co-created the series with fellow "Parks and Rec" alum Alan Yang — only capable of, or interested in, writing about the world that's immediately around them. But what makes "Master of None" so special — and instantly not only one of Netflix's best series, but one of the best shows on TV — is that it's the thematic opposite of that. What defines Dev isn't that he spends a lot of time on movie sets,...

Nothing says summer and fun times like a good old-fashioned road trip. If you're doing life right, you know that the best part of a road trip is the playlist. Just kidding -- it's the snacks. But let's focus on the music.
The perfect playlist can help you appreciate the beauty of a scenic road or make you forget you're driving through a wasteland. Eminem might not be gracing us with his presence on the big screen in Southpaw, but he will be present in the movie by way of the movie's soundtrack. The rapper's "Phenomenal" dropped Tuesday morning and it has all the makings of a classic pump-up song. Think a combination of "Till I Collapse" and "Lose Yourself" with a hint of "Mockingbird's" realness. The lyrics alone will have you going for a 10-mile run or hitting the gym with the utmost intensity (or, in this case, getting back in the boxing ring). "I am phenomenal / However long that it takes / I'll go to whatever lengths / It's gonna make me a monster though / I am phenomenal / But I would never say,...

Maybe you've already heard Eminem screaming that he's phenomenal in the Southpaw trailers — but then whenever you went to Google "i am phenomenal eminem," nothing showed up. Well, those days of fruitless Googling are officially over. Eminem's "Phenomenal" is here in full, revved up and ready to go just for you, Antoine Fuqua, and Southpaw. As far as Eminem songs go, it feels like a blend of "Mockingbird"'s rawness and "Lose Yourself"'s intensity. Poignant pump-up song? Sure. Trademark Eminem tongue twisters included.Google that beautiful phrase as many times as you want, or just listen to the track right here: Southpaw comes out July 24.

Eminem, we've found a new act for your next tour! Shelby Mitchusson uploaded an incredible video of her performing Eminem's hit song "Lose Yourself" entirely in American Sign Language. And it really is a beautiful sight. Even though the video was uploaded in September, it's now starting to get some pickup and much-deserved recognition because it was just shared on Reddit—where yesterday's news goes to be revived! Mitchusson not only signs the song, but really conveys the beat and mood throughout her entire performance. A commenter on Reddit admitted, "Ok, I expected it to be silly, but it's actually really, really well done. I could see Eminem signing while...

Dr. Ben Carson launched his 2016 presidential campaign in Detroit on Monday morning. So, naturally, there was a gospel choir performance of hometown favorite Eminem's "Lose Yourself" anthem from the film 8 Mile. While there is nothing inherently odd about this choice, it does seem a bit jarring in connection to comments the new candidate made last month about hip hop music and the black community.

Model on the rise? Eminem's daughter Hailie Jade Scott Mathers is making headlines once more. This time, the rapper's only child — who was her high school's Homecoming Queen — is turning heads for her gorgeous looks. Some fans of the "Lose Yourself" entertainer have recently caught wind of Hailie's Twitter avatar. In the stunning photo, she shows off her pearly whites, tousled blonde locks, and wears heavy makeup — making Eminem's little girl not so little anymore. Hailie has smarts, too. Back in June 2014, she graduated [...]...

The Oscars sum up Hollywood quite tidily: The most popular people get together to find out who has been selected as being especially notable, and then everyone claps. If you're the type who likes attention - and let's face it, most who excel in Hollywood do - getting that moment onstage is a dream come true. Every now and then, however, an Oscar winner isn't present to receive his or her statuette. It's Hollywood heresy - the thought that someone would have somewhere more important to be than onstage, receiving applause. But it happens, and when it does, there's usually a good story behind it.

Of the five Oscar-nominated original songs for the 87th Academy Awards, Selma’s “Glory” and Beyond the Light’s “Grateful” are the only songs that solely play over the end credits of their respective film. The other three songs — “Everything is Awesome” from The Lego Movie, “Lost Stars” from Begin Again and “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” from Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me — are all performed at some point during the film.
Now, that’s not to say that the end-credits songs aren’t relevant to the plot. Both “Grateful” and “Glory” stick with the themes of their respective films and summarize relevant events, even if they aren’t integral to each plot’s progression.

Slim Shady takes lyrical shots at Adrian Peterson — among others — in new single off “Shady Xv”
Eminem continues to prove that hip-hop is colorblind, which perhaps explains why the rapper released his newest music video in black-and-white.
For “Detroit Vs. Everybody” — which dropped via Vevo on Friday — Slim Shady welcomes Royce da 5’9″, Big Sean, Danny Brown, Def Loaf and Trick Trick to help lyrically strike the fear in anyone outside of the Michigan city’s borders.

Since its premiere at Sundance, Richard Linklater’s Boyhood has been garnering Oscar buzz and rave reviews. The film could score nominations for best picture, director, actor and more, but after submitting three songs to the Academy for consideration in the best original song category, the film could add another nomination. Two of the songs were written by Ethan Hawke, who could garner a best supporting actor nomination for his portrayal of the father. If Hawke receives a best original song nomination for one of his songs, he will join a short list of actors who have scored nominations for songs since 1994.
Both Annette O’Toole and her husband Michael McKean were nominated in 2004, for their song “A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow,” which appeared in 2003’s A Mighty Wind. Well known for her role on Smallville as Martha Kent, O’Toole didn...

The "Shady Xv" 15th anniversary compilation album isn't officially billed as a new Eminem album, but new music from Slim Shady is all over it. The comp has one side that's 15 previously released Shady Records tunes, plus a bonus track that's the original demo of Eminem's great "Lose Yourself." The other side is all-new tracks, with Eminem leading or featuring on at least 10 out of 12 of the songs. Em fronts the songs "Shady Xv," "Die Alone" featuring Kobe, previously released "Guts Over Fear" featuring Sia, "Right for Me" and "Fine Line." He's also part of the D12 crew, rhymes with Royce da 5'9" in Bad Meets Evil and is part of a group track "Detroit Vs. Everybody" that co-leads with Royce, Big Sean, Danny Brown, DeJ Loaf and Trick Trick. The full tracklist to both discs are below. Eminem executive produced the set. "Shady Xv" is out on Nov.

Slim Shady's team claims that "Lose Yourself" was used illegally in campaign ads.
Politicians may want to refrain from using Eminem music in their campaigns.
No, not because the Detroit-based rapper is known for his rapid-fire, profanity-laced rhymes, but because his legal team may come after you for copyright infringement.

While it remains to be seen what comes out of Lifetime’s TV version of Brittany Murphy’s career and personal story, one thing is clear: the beloved actress had a number of iconic roles despite her short-lived career. Everyone from Clueless Tai to Shellie from Sin City is here as we look back on the most iconic Murphy roles we hope get covered in her Lifetime story.
In the words of Cher’s best friend slash makeover challenge, these roles were totally “doable.”

In her second film role, Murphy played the high schooler who wasn’t a virgin and could drive. The role turned out to be a total Valley Girl who defied all stereotypes.
