Exclusive: A round of layoffs has taken place at Banijay-owned MythBusters firm Beyond Productions in Australia and the U.S.
Deadline understands around two-dozen people have lost jobs across the production arm’s Sydney and LA sites, after the UK hub was shuttered several weeks ago.
The move comes almost exactly a year after Banijay bought decades-old firm Beyond International in a deal worth more than $30M, via what was described as a Scheme Implementation Deed.
“Banijay can confirm a number of redundancies have been implemented across the Beyond International production footprint,” a spokeswoman told Deadline. “The changes form part of the group’s overall reorganisation of the business following its acquisition earlier this year. No productions will be affected in the process.”
The layoffs comprise a sizeable chunk of Beyond Productions’ overall footprint. Overseen by President John Luscombe, the company launched in 1984 and has made the likes of long-running Discovery franchise Mythbusters,...

Reese Witherspoon executive produces alongside Sara Rea, Alex Baskin, Lauren Weber, Brian McCarthy, Joe Kingsley, and Benton Bohannon. Evolution Media, Hello Sunshine, and Tremont Road are the studios behind the production.

Taye Diggs has left the All American building.
The actor, who has starred on The CW drama as Billy Baker since its late 2018 launch, was shockingly killed off of the series during the Feb. 13 episode.
“It has been an honor to work with Taye over these last five seasons and to watch him bring such incredible life to the role of Billy Baker,” showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “It has truly been a gift for me and my fellow writers to write a character that was equally flawed and heroic. Billy was all of us and what a joy it was to watch this character grow as he raised his kids and his football players as one big family. We wish Taye the very best in this next chapter of his life and he remains a beloved member of the All American family,...

While one door has been closed for executive producer Elan Gale with the cancellation of “FBoy Island” at HBO Max, another door has been opened with Hulu’s “Back in the Groove.” His latest reality dating series follows three mature women – each in their 40s – as they jump back into the world of dating and test the waters with a pool of younger men in their 20s and 30s.
Based on the timeless ’90s film “How Stella Got Her Groove Back,” Taye Diggs lends his assistance as a steward for the ladies as they search for their potential companions. Diggs, who once portrayed the sexy 20-something love interest opposite Angela Basset in the original film, appears in the first episode as a host and holds an executive producer credit.
A “Bachelor” franchise alum, Gale’s expertise as an executive producer on several popular dating shows, including HBO Max’s recently scrapped “FBoy Island,...

Hulu has renewed The D’Amelio Show for a ten-episode third season. The second season premiered on September 28 and all 10 episodes are now streaming on Hulu.
Season two followed the family — Marc D’Amelio, Heidi D’Amelio, Dixie D’Amelio, Charli D’Amelio — as they dealt with public relationships, private struggles, new pursuits, and “unfathomable pressure and scrutiny,” says Hulu. Daughters Dixie and Charli struggle to separate their own self-love and identity from their online presence. Marc and Heidi parent in uncharted territory, as they try to protect their family from new pitfalls at every turn.
It can’t be all that bad: Charli D’Amelio just won Dancing with the Stars. Her ma got to dance, too!
The D’Amelio Show is executive produced by Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman on behalf of The Intellectual Property Corporation (Ipc), a part of Sony Pictures Television, with showrunner Sara Reddy executive producing.

Between America’s Kidz Got Singing, Homonym! and Sports Shouting, Tina Fey’s NBC comedy 30 Rock had a penchant for on-the-nose reality creations, but the jewel in its crown was Milf Island featuring “25 super-hot moms, 50 eighth-grade boys and no rules.”
