DC Comics' "Justice League" #27, available August 16, 2017, is written by Bryan Hitch and illustrated by Fernando Pasarin, Oclair Albert, with covers by Bryan Hitch, Nick Bradshaw, in support of the upcoming "Justice League" feature, opening November 17, 2017:
"...in 'Legacy' part two, a massive 'metahuman' war threatens to leave the future ripe for conquest by the despot known only as 'Sovereign'.
"Warn the children of the 'Justice League', who have come back in time to save the world.
"But the term 'blood feud' takes on new meaning when the younger heroes declare that for the crisis to be averted, one of the Justice League must die..."

This former page boy is all grown up — and royally shaking up social media with a steamy new photo.
Arthur Chatto, the 18-year-old son of Lady Sarah Chatto (the only daughter of the late Princess Margaret) and grandnephew of Queen Elizabeth II, posted a photo on his Instagram account — which was deleted and restored on Friday — showing himself in nothing but a pair of white Calvin Klein underwear, captioned “#Chatnoleg.”
Much like his cousin Prince Harry, Arthur is on a military career-path. He graduated earlier this year from the Combined Cadet Force at Eton, and most likely will attend Edinburgh...

Xur’s back once again in Destiny, offering a fresh batch of new Exotic gear for Guardians to browse at their leisure, but where’s he decided to set up shop and, more importantly, is the Agent of the Nine selling anything worth the visit? The vendor’s first visit following the arrival of Destiny‘s final ever sandbox update Age of Triumph earlier this week, Bungie has seen fit to give Xur’s existing inventory an upgrade, adding in new weapon bundles that group together an Exotic weapon with a compatible Ornament. They’ll set you back a hefty 30 Strange Coins and 25 Silver Dust, though, so mull the decision over before you hit buy.

There's a whole Tron fan base out there, like me, hoping that one day Disney will let director Joseph Kosinski make his Tron 3. Unfortunately, there are no current plans to make it happen. During a recent interview with Collider, Kosinski said that the film was in "cryogenic freeze" and says:
"It’s not dead. It’s alive, but it’s sitting there, waiting for the right time to move forward."
He shouldn't be getting our hopes up like that because I've heard from a friend of mine who works at Disney that the film is completely dead. I guess there's a chance it could be reignited but I'm not going to hold my breath. Maybe when the Star Wars and Marvel films dry up they'll do it, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
Regardless of that, thanks to the director, we now have some cool details on the...

Amazon’s “The Tick” pilot made enough of an impression to get a full series order, with new episode expected some time next year. Created by Ben Edlund, this new series stars Peter Serafinowicz, taking the reigns from previous The Tick actor Patrick Warburton, as the comedic blue superhero. Edlund and producer Barry Josephson attended New York Comic Con on Thursday to discuss the new series and revealed that Warburton, who also serves as one of the show’s producers, will have a cameo in the upcoming season.
“He’ll do something special. I can’t say exactly when,” said Josephson about Warburton.
“I think he’ll have a really interesting role. They’ll be some comments on the Tick, because he was The Tick,” Edlund said, adding that he’d also like to bring in other cast members from the 2001 series. “Everyone in the whole live-action was wonderful, so...

The David Duchovny-starring series “Aquarius” has been canceled by NBC after two low-rated seasons.

The series debuted in May of 2015 and was picked up straight to series. Following the premiere, the full first season was released on NBC’s website and mobile apps for for weeks. The second season aired in June of 2016 and drew low ratings.

“Pokémon Go” fever has swept the nation, and it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down any time soon. The augmented-reality mobile video game allows players to catch, train, and battle Pokémon out in the real world, using Gps and camera technology. Its runaway success has led to a $9 billion 25% stock price jump for Nintendo, and now Hollywood is knocking on its door yet again. Deadline reports that Legendary Pictures is pursuing a deal for the rights to make a live-action film based on the long-running Japanese video game. It’s likely to be the biggest video-game movie rights deal in history.

The Taken franchise has worked at all thanks to two people: Luc Besson and Liam Neeson. Besson has seemingly been coasting since 1994’s The Professional and certainly has returned to familiar territory with this franchise. Neeson has stopped showing his considerable acting chops by going the action route pretty much since he picked up a lightsaber. Despite its utter predictability, the first Taken proved enormously popular, especially considering its early 2009 release date.
The inevitable sequel, Taken 2, mined much the same ground although it varied things just enough that the rescued daughter (Maggie Grace) now helps dad find their missing mom Lenore (Famke Janssen). Enough seemed to be enough and Neeson thought a third chapter was out of the question. 20th Century-Fox thought otherwise and asked Neeson and cowriter Robert Mark Kamen for one more. We were told things would go in another direction but I doubt anyone anticipated it going even lower,...

Chatter surrounding the forthcoming sci-fi sequel Tron 3 has exploded in recent weeks, following an innocent slip in a local Vancouver paper alerting residents to the movie’s production. However, the existence of a third Tron sequel wasn’t entirely unknown prior to that announcement. In 2011, voice star Bruce Boxleitner confidently assured fans that a follow-up to that year’s Tron: Legacy was definitely on the cards, and director Joseph Kosinski’s prep on the sequel was so far along in 2013 that he went on the record comparing it to The Empire Strikes Back. To sum up the evidence, it’s been a long time coming, but Tron 3 is on the way.
And, if you needed even further confirmation on that, a new report from The Hollywood Reporter has two returning stars locked in. Olivia Wilde, who played Quorra in Legacy, and Garrett Hedlund, who tackled the part of Jeff Bridges son Sam Flynn,...

Back in March, reports surfaced that Tron 3, the sequel to 2010's anticipated Tron: Legacy, was gearing up to start shooting this fall in Vancouver. Shortly thereafter it was confirmed that star Garrett Hedlund and director Joseph Kosinski were going to be back for the sequel, which has been rumored to be title Tron: Ascension. Now word comes from THR that Olivia Wilde will be reprising her role as Quorra, an algorithm turned sentient human who left the grid with Sam (Hedlund), son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), at the conclusions of Legacy. However, we still don't know what the sequel will focus on this time. Read on! Also unknown is whether or not Jeff Bridges or the title program himself, played by Bruce Boxleitner, will be back for this sequel. However, perhaps the most important element of this film's cool factor, beyond the breathtaking visuals, would be the return...

Olivia Wilde is confirmed to be returning for the upcoming "Tron: Legacy" follow-up that is currently rumored to be titled "Tron: Ascension".
Wilde played Quorra in 2010's 'Legacy' and will rejoin her co-star Garrett Hedlund as Sam Flynn in the new film which Joseph Kosinski is also confirmed to be returning to direct.
At the end of 'Legacy', Sam and Quorra make it to the real world - she is essentially an algorithm made flesh who has escaped the Grid and is now in our reality. 'Ascension' is rumored to show other elements of the Grid making the jump to our reality.
The new "Tron" is currently slated to begin filming this Fall in Vancouver.

Five years have passed since sci-fi sequel Tron: Legacy debuted in theaters, which means that now’s the perfect time to start production on its follow-up, right? Disney’s second jaunt into the Grid might have failed to ignite a positive response from critics or audiences, but that’s not going to stop the studio from pushing forward on a third entry in the Tron canon.

Things have changed quite a bit for Sam Smith since he became an international singing sensation, and the “I’m Not the Only One” crooner is featured in the Legacy Project edition of GQ magazine.
Smith noted that he loves creating beautiful songs because it’s better than the alternative- “Make music so you don't have to go to therapy or rehab.” As for his inspirations, Sam explained, “I'm going through a little bit of an obsession at the moment with Frank Sinatra; 2015 is a hundred years since Frank was born.”
To that end, Mr. Smith shared that he sang Sinatra during his first singing lesson- “Yeah, I did ‘Come Fly with Me.’ I was, like, 10 years old. Mark Millar gained critical acclaim at Marvel and DC for his work on titles like Superman: Red Son, The Ultimates and Civil War. The comic book writer has since embarked on a number of equally praised creator owned projects, many of which have been adapted to the big screen. These include Kick-Ass, Wanted and Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming take on Millar and Watchmen artist Dave Gibbon’s The Secret Service.
The comic book tells the story of a James Bond-like spy who recruits his rough around the edges nephew to battle a mysterious villain responsible for kidnapping a number of public figures, including Star Wars legend Mark Hamill. The movie has assembled an impressive cast which includes Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Caine and relative newcomer Taron Egerton.
In a recent interview with Comic Book Resources, Millar had this to say about his role as an executive producer...

With the release of The Dark Knight Rises and the completion of the Dark Knight Trilogy it had me thinking of where it falls when compared to other classic trilogies. Trilogies used to be reserved for a select few, but now everything has a trilogy. I mean Step Up had a trilogy…until they made another movie and now it’s a quadrilogy. To be fair there is a lot of plot in that series so four movies were absolutely necessary. In fact I’m quite surprised Step Up Revolutions wasn’t split up into two parts. That’s not to say that there aren’t any great ones out there, because there are quite a few and I hope to point out some of those today. I created a list of what I think are the best trilogies ever made. I considered a few things when making this list.

Just a short(ish) installment this week, as this really should have gone out last week but circumstances conspired against us (i.e. someone gave me a copy of The Last of Us which exacerbated my natural procrastinatory tendencies). So prepare for a haphazard but mercifully brief rundown of what last week in comics looked like.
Mark
I bought six comics last week, but I’m writing this on Wednesday night so if this column has any hope of being live before the weekend I’ll just talk about them in roundup fashion:
Entering the mission statement/giant pseudo-science exposition portion of its tale, Gillen and White’s Uber #3 is mostly set-up for the rest of the series – strange, one might think, for the third issue, but Gillen’s been tactical in drawing us in with excitement and intrigue and leaving the science bit until we’re properly invested in the story.

After the moderate box-office success of 2010's Tron: Legacy, a sequel was announced, but little more has been revealed about it, much less a start date. Meanwhile, a reworking of another decades-old Disney property, 1979's The Black Hole, has been in the works for some time. At Tuesday's press junket for the upcoming Oblivion Blu-ray release on August 6, director Joseph Kosinski gave ETonline an update on the two highly anticipated projects.
Pics: Sci-Fi & Fantasy Flicks of the Summer
"Both projects are being written right now by two really talented writers: Jon Spaihts is writing Black Hole and Jesse Wigutow is writing Tron 3, and both scripts are in progress," says Kosinski. "I'm really excited about both. The fundamental ideas of both are really interesting."
At the end of Tron: Legacy, the evil program Clu (played by a CGI-youthified Jeff Bridges) is plotting to enter the human world and take it over, but he's thwarted...

Sex Mob: Cinema, Circus & Spaghetti: Sex Mob Plays Fellini: The Music of Nino Rota (Royal Potato Family)
Call me crazy, but I feel a connection between Rota's themes for Fellini's films and the melodic styles of Albert Ayler and Ornette Coleman. Granted, what each did once past their respective themes became wildly different, with Rota never abandoning harmony, Ornette twisting it in new directions, and Ayler abandoning it altogether, but before that happens, their themes share an effulgent earthiness and overflowing humanity. Film will splash one of Thorne's big ideas – traversable wormholes through space and time – across popular culture
If you could pass through a wormhole and fast-forward to November 2014, odds are many people will be talking about Kip Thorne and the possibility of time travel.
Hollywood's publicity machine will be in overdrive promoting a blockbuster film, Interstellar, which draws on research by the theoretical physicist.
Christopher Nolan, who directed the Dark Knight trilogy, has assembled Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Michael Caine to star in what has been billed as "a heroic voyage to the farthest borders of our scientific understanding".
The real star, however, will be Thorne and his planet-sized brain. The 73-year-old scientist is already revered among peers for advancing some of Albert Einstein's most intriguing theories about relativity and gravity fields. The film will splash one of Thorne's big ideas – traversable wormholes through space and time – across popular culture.

Tron Legacy has gotten a lot of guff since its release, particularly from the geek population. The recent news that there is another sequel in the works will probably cause those same parties to reaffirm their hatred for the sequel which was 28 years in the making. Which is as good a time as any to reaffirm why I, and probably a decent number of you readers out there, actually loved the film. You see, I thought that in the face of an almost three decade wait, a film that could have been a simple cash grab for nostalgia turned out to be a really good movie with more than redeemable qualities to spare.
But at the same time, there could have been more. So with that, I’d like to share with you 5 perks to Tron Legacy and 5 things that Joseph Kosinski and company can improve on in the next film.

The "Tron" franchise has not hit the end of line. One week after THR reported Jesse Wigutow was hired to write a sequel to "Tron Legacy," Garrett Hedlund confirmed that he would return to the franchise as well. Hedlund, who stars in "On the Road," played Sam Flynn in "Tron Legacy," the son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges).
"Are we gonna break this now?" Hedlund said to NextMovie, before revealing his involvement. "I'm very excited, Disney's very excited."
Released in 2010, "Tron Legacy" was a sequel to 1982's "Tron." The film focused on Hedlund's Sam searching for his father inside a computer-generated virtual world that the elder Flynn helped design. Joseph Kosinski directed "Tron Legacy," and THR reports that he's attached to its sequel.
That Hedlund and Kosinski would even get the opportunity to re-team for "Tron 3" is somewhat surprising. The film was a perceived financial disappointment for Disney, grossing just $172 million in North America.

If all goes as planned, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill will reunite on the silver screen in 2015 for Star Wars: Episode VII, a movie set in the hours, days, years, decades or eons after Darth Vader’s torchlight funeral near the piney stomping grounds of the Ewoks. But when they reach the set next year, the actors will be 30 years removed from Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. A new generation of heroes and villains will clearly be needed to move the franchise on to Episode VIII and beyond, but how to accomplish that?

Last week, we brought you news that Lionsgate was splitting up the third book of Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games trilogy, Mockingjay, into two films, making the franchise a four-film series. As far as casting was concerned, we got confirmation that Philip Seymour Hoffman would indeed play Head Gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee.
But the role that fans have been hungering for is that of trident-wielding Finnick Odair. In June, rumors were flying about on the casting of this role. Armie Hammer (Lone Ranger, Mirror Mirror), Taylor Kitsch (Battleship, John Carter), and Garrett Hedlund (On the Road, Tron Legacy) were rumored for the role and Kitsch struck the early rumors down and clearly stated that it was “not going to happen.”

According to Variety, the latest rumor is that Sam Clafin (Snow White and the Huntsman), is now the frontrunner for the role of Finnick Odair. Tony Shaloub (Pain and Gain, Monk...

We fondly remember the cinematic legacy of the director/screenwriter who died Tuesday at the age of 71.

It couldn't have been more than six months ago that a male friend and I were engaged in an uncharacteristically earnest Gchat conversation about the genius of "When Harry Met Sally..." And as philosophical discussions of that sort often go, we couldn't help but wonder why they don't make romantic comedies like they used to. (Oh, the loathsome they: such a handy scapegoat!)Of course, each generation is wont to think theirs did it best, but it was probably a curious conversation for us to be having considering we hadn't even finished the second grade when the film debuted in 1989. But our belated affinity for the film speaks volumes to the timelessness of a screenplay written by filmmaker Nora Ephron, who died Tuesday at the age of...

The "Madagascar" franchise, with its skeletal, if somewhat clever plot mechanics (animals from the Central Park zoo are mistakenly shipped to exotic lands – first Madagascar, then Africa proper – all the while longing for their urban environments), and characters almost exclusively defined by outdated ethnic stereotypes (mostly tired New Yorkers-as-neurotic-Jews-or-loud-African-Americans stuff), is arguably the least ambitious or satisfying of DreamWorks Animation’s admittedly low-wattage carousel of animated tent poles (which now include “Shrek” and its off-shoots, “How to Train Your Dragon,” and “Kung Fu Panda”). And while “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted” isn’t some kind of triumph, it is a surprisingly satisfying romp, especially when it keeps its manic pacing up.
“Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted” begins with a kind of “Previously on ‘Madagascar’…” update, which you’d be tempted to call lazy but with a series of movies as instantly forgettable as these, you’ll...

In an interview with Collider, writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz talk about their work on Disney Xd's upcoming animated series Tron: Uprising (which takes place between the two Tron films). The duo reveal what they were excited about showing in the animated series that they couldn't in Tron: Legacy, while Kitsis also (briefly) discusses the two's involvement with the proposed sequel to Legacy. For Kitsis and Horowitz's comments on the season one finale of Once Upon A Time, click the link below. On Exploring More Of The Tron World In Uprising: Horowitz: "In writing Tron: Legacy, we had two hours to tell a story and a world that was so exciting and rich to explore. Tron: Uprising has been an amazing opportunity to explore the time between Legacy, when we see Klu overthrow Flynn and Sam’s arrival at the beginning, and take that time period and really go...

Long-time screenwriter and soon-to-be first-time director Akiva Goldsman has offered the leading role in his passion project Winter’s Tale to the hot-then-cold-now-hot-again movie star Colin Farrell. The project is one of fantasy, taking place alternatively in 19th Century and present-day Manhattan, involving a thief who falls for the dying daughter (to be played by Downton Abbey‘s Jessica Brown Findlay) of a rich patriarch who’s house he’s broken in to.
Warner Bros. is producing the project. Farrell did good work for the studio last year in Horrible Bosses, which became a runaway hit. The actor also has the Sony tentpole Total Recall out later this summer. This news comes after reports that Goldsman was screen-testing everyone from Tom Hiddleston to Lily Collins to Benjamin Walker for various roles.

It’s that time again… okay, it’s a little past that normal time, thanks to the Mix March Madness wrapup, but here are the preview materials for DC Comics releases for July 2012.
What’s on tap this month? More of the Before Watchmen books, with the debut of Ozymandias from Len Wein and Jae Lee, the conclusion of the Court of Owls storyline and crossover in all the Bat-books, and the debut of the done-in-one book, National Comics, featuring the New 52 Debut (coming right at you) of Eternity.
And in the white elephant of desire category, there’s the $300 statue showing the climactic scene from The Dark Knight Returns.
Once more, into the breach? Banzai!
As always, spoilers may lurk beyond this point.

On the Game of Thrones season two premiere last Sunday, Cersei famously said knowledge is not power. Power is power.
But, following what she learned about her son on "The Night Lands," this queen regent would have to admit: knowledge can certainly have the power to make one think: Omfg, what the heck have I created?!?
Of all the great scenes and developments on the second episode of season two - from Tyrion confronting Varys to Theon and his father stepping into the spotlight - the reaction of Cersei to the news that Joffrey actually ordered the execution of all Robert's bastards stands apart for me because it symbolized this week's theme:
Family. Or better yet, how effed up the families across Westeros can be.
We have Cersei finally coming to the realization that she's responsible for a monster, although it's unclear what she can possibly do about it. I...

In December 2010, Walt Disney Pictures released a sequel to their 28-year-old Tron entitled Tron: Legacy. The film starred Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner, reprising their roles as Kevin Flynn and Alan Bradley/Tron, respectively, and featured Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Beau Garrett and Michael Sheen. Although it made $400 million worldwide, the film didn't quite get the game-changing reaction Disney wanted. Undeterred, Disney started work on an animated series, Tron: Uprising, featuring the voices of Elijah Wood, Lance Henrikson, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens, Nate Corddry, Reginald VelJohnson, and Boxleitner. However, a sequel to Tron: Legacy has been quietly in the works for some time now, and the screenwriters of Legacy (now showrunners of Once Upon a Time), Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, have spoken about a third Tron film.
Though they are not writing the film due to their obligations to Once Upon a Time, Kitsis and Horowitz will...
