Lee Shaw refers to the twin engine airplane they secure in South Korea as a "Bamboo Bomber," however the aircraft shown is a Beechcraft Model 18. The aircraft that is referred to as the "Bamboo Bomber" is a different aircraft, a Cessna AT-17.
The plot uses the actual 1954 Castle Bravo hydrogen device test as a means to lure in and destroy Godzilla/Gojira and show an aerial bomb loaded onto a tower. The actual 'bomb' was in a huge cylinder housed in a metal building. The yield of the actual device was nearly double the expected yield--the witnesses sitting on chairs on the beach waiting to see Godzilla killed would have been swept away by the blast.
