Sex & Nudity

  • Much of the film is set in a tavern/brothel where Prince Hal and his friends waste their time with drunkenness and debauchery. This behavior is not condoned, however, and Prince Hal is clearly convicted by his immoral acts throughout the film.
  • Near the beginning of the film, Falstaff is seen sleeping in bed with a prostitute. We see part of the woman's buttocks, and Falstaff slaps them when he gets out of bed.
  • Lady Percy is seen naked from the back and part of her left breast is visible for a second.
  • While walking up the stairs, a woman flashes her buttocks for a split second in anger
  • Falstaff is seen urinating from behind. No nudity is visible.

Violence & Gore

  • The violence in this film is sparse but intense. However, it is never overly graphic.
  • People attack and rob a group of pilgrims on pilgrimage. They draw their swords and rob them, but none of them are hurt. The scene is meant to be somewhat comical.
  • King Henry IV slaps his son in the face in anger for his sinful behavior.
  • The battle scene at the end is the only real violence in the film, but it is very intense and shows brief glimpses of bloody violence.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A ton of alcohol consumption and drunkenness in this film. People are seen inordinately consuming alcohol and becoming very drunk all throughout. This behavior is not condoned, however, and it is made clear by the noble characters in the film that the drunken behavior of Falstaff and others is immoral and degenerate.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The battle scene at the end is quite intense, but it is not overly gory or graphic (see the "Violence and Gore" section).
