In terms of recent genre films, Rlje Films is releasing both Lucky by Natasha Kermani and Simon Barrett’s Seance on Tuesday, and if you’re a fan of the original Transformers movie (like this writer is), Shout! Factory has put together an incredible-looking Steelbook to celebrate the film’s 35th anniversary as well.
Arrow Video is keeping busy with two different sets of genre classics with their Sergio Martino Collection and The Daimajin Trilogy, and Code Red is showing some love to Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker this Tuesday with a special edition Blu-ray release.
Other titles headed home on August 3rd include Night Feeder, Dead Again, It Wants Blood, and Tailgate.

Tagline: "Fight Back or Die!" Jared Cohn's (Hold Your Breath) The Horde blends action elements with the horror genre. This film was completed in 2015. Now, a trailer has been revealed for this high octane release. Starring Paul Logan (Code Red) as a Navy Seal, the film follows John Crenshaw as he encounters a group of mutated cannibals. The first trailer, released by Artist View Entertainment, shows several darkened scenes and the creatures that lay within the darkness. The film also stars horror icons Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects), Costas Mandylor (Saw IV) and Vernon Wells (Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior). And, the film's first trailer is hosted here! From the synopsis, John and his girlfriend set out on a nature photography expedition. Alone in the woods, they find that an unspeakable evil has been rotting in the area. Now, both groups face each other, in a violent struggle of life and death.

Who new that some 11 years after the series started Wrong Turn 6 would come along to cement the franchise as the modern successor to Tobe Hopper’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Yes the films started out (and some would say continued) as sub-par rip-offs of all the backwoods slashers that had come before it Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort (to give the film it’s complete title) builds on what has come before, adding much-needed story and mythos to a series that – in its last two entries – were little more than effects show pieces. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the previous two films, which themselves rebooted the franchise in a “different” direction but this sixth film (really, I...

It seems that Fox Home Entertainment are willing to take yet another 'Wrong Turn' and have begun working on the sixth installment in the backward hillbilly franchise which began all the way back in 2003. 'Wrong Turn 6' is currently shooting on location in Bulgaria under the helm of Valeri Milev ('Code Red') and follows on from 2012's 'Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines'. It's a pity they've just missed out on the 10 year anniversary but the new chapter in the series is being lined up for a DVD, Blu-ray and VOD release this coming Autumn/Fall. The follow-up will star the sexy Sadie Katz -below ('House of Bad') along with Aqueela Zoll, Anthony Ilott, Chris Jarvis, Rollo Skinner, Billy Ashworth, Joe Gaminara, Harry Belcher, Raymond Steers, Luke Cousins, Tabitha Luke Eardley and Roxanne Pallett....

Nobody Can Cool is the rather impressive directorial debut from up-and-coming filmmaking duo Dpyx, Marcy Boyle and Rachel Holzman, who crafted a blisteringly taut and thoughtful indie crime thriller with a palpable sense of tension from start to finish. A gritty and engaging tale of deceit, violence and desperation, Nobody Can Cool is anchored by a breakout performance by Nick Principe (best known from his work in the Laid to Rest series, Madison County and...

More zombie mayhem is marching our way with Code Red, which has been described as "Band of Brothers" meets "The Walking Dead." Those are pretty big words. Let's hope it can live up to them.
Look for it on February 4th.
