On the set of Arik Renee Avila's first film, Midnight Clear, the producers called on set and asked what project would be his next.
While talking he wrote the phrase "Who can stop the Nightmare King".
The Nightmare King script dealt with a creature called the Nightmare King chasing after an artifact called the Book of Babylon.
After many re-writes the focus shifted from the Nightmare King character to the Book of Babylon artifact thus the title became, The Book of Babylon and the Nightmare King character was dropped and replaced with a fallen angel named Armaros.
This curse that created the Armaros character then became the focus of the film and it was finally named, The Curse of Babylon.
The entire film was shot on a Cannon 7D and a Cannon 5D MkII.
Throughout the pre-production process, many demo movies were filmed in order to train and prepare the cast and crew for the more complicated and physically challenging aspects of the film, along with serving as marketing materials.
The actress Brittany Bartlik took on the role of Faith Riley throughout nearly all of the training and demo movies as the cast actress was unavailable.
Brittany then acted in the role of Ashley Irving in the final feature, whose character is friend to Faith Riley.
During the authorized filming of some of the action sequences, which took place in small towns outside of Austin, upon seeing the enemy agents in black, racing cars and prop automatic weapons, the residents called the local police in fear that a terrorist operation was underway.
The news reporter character, Lorna Page De Warsa, thus far appears in every film directed by Arik Renee Avila.
