While we await the release of the first trailer for next year’s Marvel extravaganza, Avengers: Infinity War, one fan has decided to create their own effort. The twist is that this trailer teases the upcoming movie in the style of Justice League‘s promotional campaign. In particular, it apes what we saw with the final preview for DC’s team-up film, including the use of the cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes,” – which, as you can imagine, works equally as well for the Avengers as it does the League.
The trailer draws some fun comparisons between the shared universes, too. A nice touch is swapping the Justice League trailer opening at the Kent farm for Clint Barton’s rustic family home from Age of Ultron. Likewise, it reminds us that the main plots of The Avengers and Justice League are basically the same. As Tony Stark says, both revolve...

Just like Yoda trained Luke in The Empire Strikes Back, The Last Jedi looks to revolve around the mentor/student relationship between Luke – now in the role of teacher – and Rey. To illustrate this, the latest issue of Empire features a gorgeous alternate subscription cover which is an almost literal representation of the characters passing the torch.
The composition of the image is presumably inspired by the final shot of The Force Awakens, which was Mark Hamill’s first appearance as Luke since 1983’s Return of the Jedi and saw Rey tracking him down to the backwater planet of Ahch-To to offer him his old lightsaber back.
A nice touch here is the rainbow running through the sky. We might be reading into it too much, but could it suggest that the future is beginning to look brighter? After all, with Luke back on board, the First Order’s time could be up.

With a film as big as Justice League, everything surrounding the production prior to its release is pored over with a fine tooth-comb by ardent fans in the hopes of finding out anything not previously revealed. Often, it’s the merchandising that gives away plot details, new costumes or unrevealed characters, and that’s exactly the case today.
Already, we’ve been given our first look at the villainous Steppenwolf, the upgraded Batmobile and the Flying Fox thanks to sneak peaks at action figures, and now, Toy Hype USA has shared some images of a few more that place the spotlight on three of the heroes. Though they don’t reveal anything revolutionary, the toys do give us another look at how these characters will be depicted in the upcoming team-up movie. Specifically, the action figures showcased here are of Superman, Batman and the Flash.

While we’re still not sure if this year’s Power Rangers reboot will prove successful enough to warrant a sequel, let’s just enjoy the fact that a childhood favourite of many 90s children was brought to the big screen once again in the first place. Though it didn’t please everyone, there were several awesome moments – not least the cameo starring Mighty Morphin Power Rangers stars Jason David Frank and Amy Jo Johnson. Otherwise known to fans as Tommy the Green Ranger and Kimberly the Pink Ranger (a role played by Naomi Scott in the reboot).
In the movie, the pair appeared at the end of the Rangers’ big battle with Rita Repulsa and Goldar. As the townsfolk of Angel Grove gaze up in awe at the Megazord, Frank and Johnson can be seen in the crowd. A nice touch is that they’re wearing their respective Ranger colours.

When politics inspires a show like Doctor Who, we tend to see the extremes of what can happen. This week’s episode handles the nature of fascism, and that ever popular topic of fake news. What could go wrong?
With Earth now under the control of The Monks, Bill (Pearl Mackie) and Nardole (Matt Lucas) go in search of The Doctor (Peter Capaldi). With him working as the spokesperson of The Monks though, will he go willingly with his companions, or will drastic action need to be taken?
There is a moment in this episode of Doctor Who where something will click in your head, and you’ll get what this is about, and yes the title does give it away. The Doctor gives a brilliant line that is very relevant to society today, and you realise where this is heading. Yep, this is an episode about politics which will...

With the upcoming release of Alien: Covenant, we get a glimpse of the origins of the Xenomorph. To fans though, it will always begin with Alien. The moment the creature rips itself from the chest of John Hurt is one of the most iconic moments in movie history. This is why my review of the Alien and Predator Figurine Collection starts with the original Xenomorph.
Looking at the impressive little statue, which is 1:16 scale (around 14cm tall) there is plenty of detail in the design of the figurine, and there has to be. H.R. Giger’s alien creation was a work of art, that not only created the monster itself but also the ship it originated from in the Alien movie (in egg form of course).
A nice touch with the Alien design is to have a few little props from Alien included on the Xenomorphs little stand. You...

Gabriel Luna’s Ghost Rider has been a breath of fresh air for Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., greatly enhancing both properties...
Contains spoilers for Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., up to and including season 4 episode 6, The Good Samaritan.
See related Looking back at Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets
Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. is on a break for a few weeks, giving us a gap in which to reflect on season 4’s offerings so far. And boy, what a season it’s shaping up to be.
Gabriel Luna has burst onto the scene as Robbie Reyes in spectacular fashion, giving Marvel’s flagship television series an adrenalin shot and reinvigorating public interest in the Ghost Rider mythos for the first time since Nic Cage hung up his leather jacket and extinguished his flaming skull.

The post-Hotch Bau continues to gel as they track down an unlikely predator along the Appalachian Trail.
Rossi announces that Hotch is available for consultation while still on temporary duty. But no one picks up the phone to call since they're busy trying to find an unsub who is chopping up hikers in Criminal Minds Season 12 Episode 4.
Command duties are still seemingly split between Rossi and Prentiss, with him in the field in the boons of Virginia and her back at the Bau, leaning over Garcia's shoulder. My money is still on Rossi, whenever producers get around to dealing with Hotch's departure.
Apparently the two sites are fairly close together, as team members are hurling back and forth in no time. Apparently they know shortcuts around the Beltway.
The unsub is an obvious red herring, as the homeless man, Todd Burton, lacks the cunning to pull off the murders.

A mad extortionist is blowing up rollercoaster rides. Put-upon George Segal must stop him because we all know that the time, the tide and roller coasters wait for no man. As a horror fan, sometimes you just want to wade in the waters of the absurd and inane. To bath in the bathetic, and wash in the ridiculous. If you’re up for a swim, throw on your trunks and join me for Herbert J. Leder’s It! (1967), a modern retelling of the Golem legend dry humped by Psycho. And if that description piques your interest, take the plunge with me, won’t you?
Produced by Seven Arts Pictures and distributed by Warner Brothers/Seven Arts, It! was released in the UK (where it was filmed) in July of ’67 followed by the U.S. in November. Frequently paired with Leder’s previous film, The Frozen Dead (’66), the U.S. print of It! was in black and white, as opposed to the glorious Eastmancolour on display and as intended. The film was also known as Anger of the Golem, and Curse of the Golem,...

Divinity: Original Sin
Developed by Larian Studios
Published by Focus Home Entertainment
Available for PS4, Xbox One, Linux
Divinity: Original Sin is a fantasy role-playing game developed by Larian Studios and published by Focus Home Entertainment. It has a single player campaign, but, and this is something I believe is missing from many games these days, it also has the ability to play local multiplayer. In addition, it allows you to choose your ‘style’ of adventure. Are you more focused on story and exploration? Try ‘Explorer’ mode. Like combat? Choose the ‘Classic’ mode. Looking for something more hardcore? Take the challenge of one death with the ‘Tactician’ mode. Finally, the ‘Honour’ mode caters to the Most hardcore of fans, combining the ‘Classic’ mode with the ‘Tactician’ mode.
You control two fully customizable characters. They can be male and female, male and male, female and female; the pairing is up to you.

I’ve said this before, and I’m sure I’ll say it again, but it is something that always bears repeating- Wes Craven was a filmmaker that was ahead of his time. Throughout most of his career, the maven director was always about two steps ahead of everyone else- whether it was where the genre happened to be at during that given time, the types of films that Hollywood was making, or sometimes, even ahead of the fans themselves.
And while he continued to push the boundaries of horror time and time again from the 1970’s through the early 1990’s, perhaps the biggest indication of Craven’s genius as a forward-thinking storyteller has to be the Scream quadrilogy which not only redefined slasher movies but also redefined his career as well. Very few directors get a chance to directly affect the genre as a whole but Craven did so...

"Justified" has come to an end. Yesterday, I published some overall thoughts on the series. Tonight, I have an interview with Graham Yost about who lived, who died, and why, and I have a review of the series finale coming up just as soon as we identify the worst possible ice cream flavor... "We dug coal together." -Boyd Given all the plates left spinning at the end of "Collateral," Yost — who wrote the finale with longtime "Justified" writers Fred Golan, Dave Andron and Benjamin Cavell — could have very easily gone to FX and requested 90 minutes or more in order to properly wrap things up. Instead, "The Promise" clocks in at only a few minutes longer than average (there was at least one episode last season that was longer than this), and it all but concludes the season's many intersecting plotlines by the halfway point, even putting on "You'll Never Leave...

And so "Parks and Recreation" has come to an end. We published many stories about the show over the last week, including an Amy Poehler interview, an essay on the show's greatness, and a whole lot more, and I have a review of the series finale coming up just as soon as you give me a pair of your gym socks... "Yes. I'm ready." -Leslie Knope A few years ago, Mike Schur and I had a very long discussion of finales — not only the many times he had written "Parks" episodes that could function as series finales if NBC canceled them, but of the many sitcom and drama finales he had admired over the years. He talked about how once upon a time, he was convinced that the show would end with the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the park Leslie built on Lot 48. He talked, as he so often does,...

British arthouse star Peter Strickland brings extravagant artifice and intoxicating atmosphere to this story of two women in a Bdsm relationship
Recently we’ve seen a film about Bdsm driven by dead-eyed commercial imperative. Peter Strickland’s new film, The Duke of Burgundy, is different: it is a labour of love, whereas Fifty Shades of Grey was a labour of money.
The Duke is an extravagantly artificial creation, all about fetish, kink and the sussuration of an insect’s wings. The opening credits announce that it features “perfume by Je Suis Gizella”. Attempts to Google this product exposed my failure to get the joke. Or maybe Strickland discovered a stockpile of obscure scent that ceased production in 1972. A nice touch, though – as if early silent movies had credited the music they played on-set to get actors in the mood.

Vials of blood, broken necks and a seriously entertaining Howard Stark. That's just some of what this week's Agent Carter served up...
This review contains spoilers.
1.4 The Blitzkrieg Button
If you've been wondering why Dominic Cooper's Howard Stark isn't appearing in every episode, this week gives us a tacit admission: as a chronically vain one-liner spouting playboy, he's in danger of walking off with the series if he appears too much. It's not a surprise, really. He's essentially a one-man punchline, revelling in all the same things that make Peggy's life hard, and yet we love him for it. Pool table in a shipping container? How can we resist?
That said, the real problem with Stark's inclusion is that there isn't really space in the episode for him And Jarvis, so the latter was sidelined for the majority of the show. It's great to watch Atwell's comic timing play off Cooper's,...

When it comes to role-playing games I tend to have somewhat of a particular taste. I remember the days of Baldur’s Gate and its sequel, I bought them both and dabbled with them but never really made progress, but I’ve played games like Skyrim for more hours than I can count. The fact is I need a game to catch my attention and make me want to spend the time on it. With this in mind it when I agreed to preview Blackguards 2 I did it with an eye to playing a role-playing game that will get me lost in its world and hopefully get me hooked.
Blackguards 2 is an interesting game because its characters aren’t your typical good-natured fighters looking for a noble resolution to some quest they have found themselves on. You start the game as Cassia a noble woman imprisoned in a dungeon who...

Keeping up to date on all things Walking Dead means more than just reading the comic and watching the TV show. Sometimes it means living it as well. I did that a few years ago when I went undercover as a zombie on the show back in season 2, although that bastard Robert Kirkman ended up cutting my scene because “the performance just wasn’t there.” Screw that. So this time I decided to switch sides and join the survivors and see if I could escape the clutches (and, more importantly, jaws) of the undead by walking through Rick’s — and...
