Mediocre Halloween Episode but somehow funny though.
Theraxorterminate28 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I know The Simpsons has not been very good lately but I kinda find this one funny though.

The intro was definitely Halloween by parodying the movie: 127 Hours. It does get pretty scary so be prepared.

The Diving Bell And The Butterball wasn't scary at all and basically this one was even called unfunny. Well it does not really happens so much in this episode while Homer is paralyzed. It could've worked as a normal drama story on a episode about people who has problems. The ending is the only funny part.

Dial D For Diddly is way better than the first one. Ned Flanders become a murderer by listening to God on who to kill. Not bad idea you might get a bit of Halloween.

In The Na'vi, i've been waiting for this one to see. By parodying my favorite movie "Avatar" it gets more hilarious. Don't be mad if the aliens on the planet is actually the aliens of Kang and Kodos, I mean I knew that they would come up with an idea about Avatar but replacing with Kang and Kodos aliens. It's not an insult it was for fun. But it might be a bit scary on a disgusting way somehow so be prepared for that.

Overall it wasn't really the best so if your going to watch this episode see another Treehouse Of Horror episode because you probably will be pretty disappointed with this one.

Mediocre at best

The first segment starts with The Diving Bell And The Butterball which is a common reference to The Diving Bell And The Butterfly and Spiderman after Homer gets paralized by a spider and he can comunicate with fart noises which are disgusting, the second segment Dial D For Diddly after Ned Flanders becomes a serial killer and the Homer gets punished by god and the last one Into The Na vi which is a common reference to the 2009 movie Avatar after Bart gets turned into an alien and a war starts, In my opinion is not that bad.

Quite brief parts but still very good,

Warning: Spoilers
This years Treehouse of Horror,Treehouse Of Horror XXII was fairly good although they were all quite brief, obviously they were running out of time because they only had 30 minutes, but the three strorylines to this seemed like they enjoyed making so much that they could have stretched each episode out into separate episodes, which I personally think is a good idea, especially for The Diving Bell And The Butterball which I definitely felt was too short and could have lasted a full,if any worker of The Simpsons is reading this right now think about what I said, please.

The Diving Bell And The Butterball: Best of the night I would say, although I feel this part ended when it felt like it only started.Homer becomes paralyzed and cant move or talk, but he can communicate through passing gas.The Spider-Man had laughing out loud.

Dial D For Diddly: Also great but my least favourite out of these three parts, although I feel like this episode started and ended the way it should have and there wouldn't be a need to make it into a full episode.Ned Flanders starts murdering people who God asks him to kill through the bible, but is it really God?

In The Na'vi: Great one, like the Diving Bell And The Butterball,it could have been stretched out into a full episode, maybe even an hour long parody, like Family Guy did with Star Wars.In an Avatar parody,Bart and Milhouse go to Kang and Kodos planet, disguised as them through avatars.

Great opening, suddenly died immediately
mattiasflgrtll618 May 2013
Let me just say this: The opening is GREAT. As a parody of "127 Hours", it's really good and is actually mildly disturbing. The first segment is the worst. Just so terribly, terribly, tasteless humor. If I want fart-jokes, I'll watch South Park or Family Guy, but I don't want to freaking see it in The Simpsons. It's totally UN-Simpsons. The second segment does unfortunately not deserve to be called the "best", it's just the least irritating one. The appearance of Maude here was the worst to date. The third was almost just as bad as the first one, and as the first one too, is NOT halloween-like in any way. An "Avatar"-parody?! WTF?? Even if you HAVE seen the movie, it's STILL not funny, believe me. Even worse than the previous one. This blows.

Note: I changed the rating to a 1 since on a second watch I didn't even like the opening.

Oh diddly dear
benpage198530 March 2023
I recently started rewatching the Simpsons on Disney+. I had forgotten how funny it was, seasons 1-10 never fail to make me laugh. However, I've been trying to catch up with more recent seasons, from 12/13 onwards I haven't seen a great deal of episodes. I don't know why I am still watching into season 23. I guess I was such a huge fan as a kid that I am expecting it to get funny again. This treehouse of horror episode was the most disappointing episode to date and I have been really struggling for a while. Such a shame this fantastic series has gone this way, boring, unoriginal and not funny!
