Adam Green's direction to actor Nick Ballard (Kevin) was to play the part as if he was a Disney Prince in his own DIsney film and to pay no attention to how the other actors were performing their roles.
It was actress Michelle Santopietro's idea to play the role of the Hooker as if she was high on drugs. Her choice to play the role that way in her audition ultimately landed her the part.
Actor Joe Lynch really drank over twelve cups of coffee in less than an hour while shooting the final scene where he keeps stalling and ordering more coffee in order to not have to pay the dinner bill. His decision came back to haunt him when it made him sick for the next day of shooting.
In the scene where Adam sees Corri again for the first time and learns that she has a boyfriend there are visible tears in his eyes throughout the moment where the group sits down together at the table. This was unplanned and did not happen in rehearsals, however in the moment of filming and actually performing in character, Adam Green couldn't hold back when reliving what that moment actually felt like in real life. The crew however thought it was funny that he was holding back on crying and ultimately it was decided to keep those takes in the actual finished episode.
Throughout the pilot episode, Adam talks about breaking up with a girl named Deanna. At the end of the episode, Deanna is revealed to be Deanna Pappas from ABC's The Bachelorette.
