New Films International has set drama The Wine of Summer, with Marcia Gay Harden, for a limited Us theatrical and VOD release on Oct 6, with a digital rollout to follow.
Written and directed by Maria Matteoli, the film stars Harden, Elsa Pataky, Ethan Peck and Sonia Braga in the story, set in Spain, of a would-be actor, a misanthropic playwright and the women in their lives.
Matteoli produced alongside Pataky and Sean Walsh. Executive producers include Nesim Hason for New Films International, Al Hayes for Spartan Media Partners, Straw Weisman for Marquee Productions and Karina Estrada.

Kendrick Sampson has been cast in Fox’s 10-hour event series Gracepoint, a remake of the UK’s Broadchurch. The project, from Shine America and Kudos, centers on Detective Emmett Carver (David Tennant), the lead male investigator on the case of a shocking murder of 11-year-old Danny that puts a small town under scrutiny. Ethan Peck ("In Time"), Marcia Gay Harden, Sonia Braga, Kelsey Chow, Elsa Pataky and Mimi Gianopulos have all joined the cast of Maria Matteoli's indie drama "The Wine of Summer" says Risky Biz Blog.
The story follows an actor (Peck) who is struggling with his craft while working on a play. In frustration, he travels to Spain in search of the plays’ author, inadvertently bringing together five people whose fates intertwine.
Matteoli penned the script and will direct. Al Hayes and Scott David are producing with shooting kicking off this week in Madrid, Spain.
