Director Ridwan Hassim's eldest daughter was named after the main character in the film, Yasmeena. Yasmeena Ameera Hassim appears in the second scene in the bedroom, she was 3 months old at the time of shooting. Yasmeena wrote and starred in her short mockumentary 'The Child Star' (2007) at the age of 4 years old.
The Beach used in the final scene, had signs prohibiting, cars, dogs, and horses on the beach. Ridwan Hassim took a risk and instructed his crew to shoot a 4WD car on the beach for the final scene. A few minutes after the scene was shot, the beach was over run by a pack of dogs and a group of horse riders with horses.
Khatabah (Matchmaker) was nominated for 10 awards all up, it won 5 awards. It screened in 3 dozen film festivals and also on TV: SBS Australia and UTV (India) and New Zealand TV in 2011/2012. It won the Best Australian Short film at the Western Union / Bollywood and Beyond short film festival of the Indian Film Festival Melbourne, Australia in April 2011. The award was presented to Ridwan Hassim by Head Judge Kabir Khan and the prize included 5 STAR accommodation in Mumbai, India and a free return flight via Singapore Airlines and introductions to Bollywood Film executives at Film City, Mumbai. Ridwan outlined a Romantic comedy Feature film, 'MovieStar' in the month that he spent in Agra after departing Mumbai. He wrote a treatment in the Master of Screenwriting and he is writing the feature screenplay of Movistar with Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra in mind. A feature film screenplay is also being developed, adapted from this short film but it is not based on this short film's plot; rather the feature is based on the character of Khatabah (Matchmaker).
Khatabah was jointly owned via copyright by Speedy Riddy Creations Pty Ltd and Metro Screen Ltd. Ridwan tried to purchase the copyright outright after winning the Indian Film Festival Melbourne and was advised by the Project Manager David Opitz at Metro Scren that he needed to tender $5470 AUD to buy out Metro Screen Ltd. When Metro Screen Ltd was deregistered (closed) as an organisation in December 2015 due to the lack of government support and finance, Speedy Riddy Creations Pty Ltd assumed full copyright of Khatabah, and the right to develop the intellectual property within, without hindrance. Khatabah was outlined as a feature film trilogy in 2012.
