Back on track, Let's keep surviving
kiranshadharmendran30 May 2023
"From" Season 2 had a strong start but began to lag after the first two episodes. The creators extended the episodes without substantial content, making me consider stopping after Episode 5. However, Episode 6 pleasantly surprised me by bringing back the gripping, engaging horror scenes reminiscent of the first season. While it may not be exceptional, it felt like the series regained its momentum and found its footing again. The episode showcased a return to form with suspenseful moments that kept me on the edge of my seat. Donna's words about fear and brave was touching. Despite the series' earlier shortcomings, Episode 6 reminded me why I enjoyed "From" in the first place. It rekindled my interest and left me eagerly anticipating what to come.

An improvement from the episodes 5 and 4
tudorgrigoriu-4076329 May 2023
I think I talk for the majority of viewers when I say that episodes that drive the story forward, are better than ones in which the characters only express their feelings.

I enjoyed the car ride that was shot aproximately in one shot and casting is great, every actor does a great job.

I sense that this show needs improvement on the script though. Boyd has to defend himself and what happened in the forest way too much, given that they are literally fighting vampires. Where does "extraordinary paranormal" experience ends so that you need to defend you sanity?

I like this show, I hope it will grow, the creators will have more money to hire better writers and that everything will be explained.

Return to form
verstand31 May 2023
Harold Perrineau is front and center in this episode and that's a really good thing. I just love his acting. As Sheriff Boyd he has his plate full with troubles old and new. Can he deal with it? Watch and find out, it's going to be intense.

This episode has thankfully cut down on the fluff. When there's drama it drives the story forward. Some other actors seem to be getting much needed increased direction this time around. Overall I'm very satisfied with this episode and hope this course will stick for the rest of the season. I prefer when shows stick to their guns and subplots do not supplant the dramatic theme.

A good job by everyone involved. I'm looking forward again to see what this show has to offer.

Pas De Deux - what a wild, tremendous ride
xcycmcyvn1 June 2023
Mr. Harold Perrineau just shines in this episode. His stage persona and screen persona are equally dazzling..but it's a true delight to catch those moments of raw stage presence break through on the small screen. He is BRILLIANT. He evokes tragedy, humor, anger and love in a single episode and it seems to be effortless for him. He a powerful force on this cast and is the glue of the series.

Separately, this episode featured some excellent, creative writing and some gems of a performance by the supporting cast. I had to watch some of this one through my fingers since I was covering my eyes..what a rollercoaster!

Like a previous reviewer said - I keep asking questions and that is a beautiful thing! FROM is keeping me on my toes and I love it!

A Thrilling Turn of Events: Season 2 Episode 6 Revives the Series
zaneod29 May 2023
After a few episodes that felt like they were simply marking time, Season 2 Episode 6 of From comes with renewed energy and captivating developments. This episode not only injects a much-needed sense of urgency into the storyline but also introduces an exciting new plotline that promises to take the series to thrilling new heights and embracing its true potential.

I dont know if the people that reviewed the episode have even watched it, feels like they are stuck on episode 5 which in all fairness was their weakest episode so far. I hope they can go into more detail about the place and shine some light on it in the last 4 episodes.

I think better, but no means saved the season
mpboylanjr-5403830 May 2023
This episode was definitely an upgrade to the past few episodes for sure, but by no means saved the season. We need much more revelations and good reasons as to why the group is there and the whole deal with the creatures. It was a pretty good step in the right direction at least with the whole Boyd blood transfer to the creature. That looks like it was a peak into something about maybe how they can kill the creatures or something along those lines. Still though it hops around the same boring storylines way to much. I think we now need to find out a solid reason as to why they are all there, or at least a morsel of something that's going to lead into the rest of the season as to why. There's obviously someone watching because of that radio transmission, but that was final episode of last season for gods sake. Since then we literally have radio silence about any answers. Where did Boyd go and what are these alternate type realities they jump in and out of in the tree or caves around the town. So although the final 15 minutes were at least entertaining, it simply is t enough. They need to really ramp up the plot lines and answer questions. Like I said about yellowjackets show. I think this show wasn't intended to be so popular and get a season 2 , and I think they just threw together something for a season and what we get is a mixed bag of and shoddy plot development. Just seems like a ton of filler mixed in with portions that are relevant to the story. Simply put, they were not totally prepared and didn't have much time to make a solid season 2. Just a theory on that though.

A Masterful Entry that Exceeds Expectations
ameerbarram8 July 2023
One of the greatest strengths of this episode is its ability to progress the overarching storyline in a compelling and engaging manner. The plot unfolds with precision, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats and leaving them eager for more. The narrative is filled with unexpected twists and turns, constantly surprising and challenging the audience's expectations. The pacing is expertly handled, allowing for moments of tension and quiet introspection to coexist seamlessly.

Character development in this episode is exceptional, with each main character experiencing significant growth and transformation. The performances by the cast are nothing short of extraordinary, with each actor fully embodying their character and delivering nuanced and emotionally charged portrayals. The dialogue is sharp and insightful, providing a deeper understanding of the characters' motivations and inner conflicts. This level of development and depth adds a layer of complexity to the series, elevating it beyond mere entertainment.

Visually, "Frome" excels in this episode. The cinematography is breathtaking, with each shot meticulously composed and visually striking. The use of lighting and color palettes is masterful, enhancing the atmosphere and immersing viewers in the world of the show. The production design is meticulous, with attention to detail that brings the setting to life. The visual aesthetics of this episode are a feast for the eyes, further enhancing the storytelling experience.

The music in this episode is exceptional, with a memorable score that perfectly complements the on-screen action. The soundtrack is diverse and expertly chosen, adding depth and emotion to key moments. The use of sound design is also noteworthy, with subtle details that enhance the overall viewing experience.

This episode is a testament to the exceptional writing and direction. The script is intelligent and thought-provoking, tackling complex themes and ideas with finesse. The editing is seamless, with each scene flowing effortlessly into the next, creating a cohesive and immersive narrative.

Episode 206
bobcobb30110 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The acting by the guy after stabbing Ellis was horrid, but what can you do. They had a lot of action in this one and I liked them not having any of the monsters surrounding the medical center when they got there. They don't need a hurdle every second because it starts to be unbelievable at times.

But there was an intense moment for sure near the end of this one. Obviously Boyd wasn't going to die, but we wanted to see if he could pull it off. Not only were the monsters stopped, but one of them was killed. Perhaps we may finally get an answer about something around here, but I sincerely doubt it.

alright

Warning: Spoilers
The junkie gf and the useless story back at it.. and her getting annoyed at kristi.. ok then.

Boyd actually telling people what happened when he went into the forest with sarah.. it is a miracle.. someone actually sharing experiences..

ellis getting stabbed.. it was so predictable.. the way he was handling that guy.. with no worry.. you do not approach someone with a knife like that.. but as always, being dumb is predictable in this show..

wait so boyd kills smiley dude and only kenny saw it? They were all calling out to him and like 10 secs later they lost interest? Lol.

Finally some good action and the whole van scene was awesome.. the one camera POV thing as neat..

some reviewers said this episode saved the show.. it really didnt.. it just brought more questions. At least we didnt get too much of tabita shouting.. the kid way over the top overreactions.. the lesbian couple nonsense.. the boy with donna was ok.. that is the receipe.. focus on boyd and its all good..

Harold Perrineau and Elizabeth Saunders are carrying the show!
charlieedmond27 June 2023
This episode felt like a return to form but the remnants of poor writing persist from the past few episodes.

This is what should've happened two episodes ago, the past two episodes besides a few key bits within them, were a complete and utter waste of time that served no purpose besides to be boring filler reminiscent of writing you would expect from CW production.

I'm glad that it seems like main characters from Season 1 are still the focus and not the new redundant characters. Only time will tell if the writers continue in this direction.

Considering the show is produced by the same people behind "Lost", you would think they'd have mastered how to keep the audience engaged. The only times this expertise is shown, is when both Harold Perrineau or Elizabeth Saunders are on screen, they literally command your attention, that's how good their acting and presence is.

Furthermore, it would seem like the best episodes are the ones that expand the plot, the ones that meander around irrelevant subplots are super boring.

Frustrating
ioanaabogdan6 May 2024
Enough with Kenny's dad already!!! There is so much to this whole mystery and all we can hear of is about Kenny's dad, Kenny, Kenny's mom, Kristi and her lover. The whole action moves so damn slow!!! I want to know more about what Jade is investigating, Victor's history, Jim and his family, when is Tabitha going to tell Jim about the underground monsters, just move forward with the whole story already!!! It is getting so frustrating to watch that it just makes me google to find out what this is about. I understand shows that focus on character development, but this mystery is too good to not know more about it.

Unanswered Mysteries and Boring Characters
abdikhaliqaden2 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This show is annoying.

While it's cool that Boyd finally killed a monster, but it feels like this should have happened earlier in the season. Instead, the show wasted time on boring relationship drama and unnecessary love affection. The only enjoyable relationships are Viktor/Jade, Jim/Boyd, Donna/Boyd, Kenny/Sarah and Ethan/Viktor, Kenny/Sarah. These characters actively try to solve mysteries, despite the writers seemingly discouraging them. Randall is an entertaining character to watch, but it's unfortunate that the writers haven't fully explored the depths of his potential. Currently, his portrayal feels somewhat one-dimensional, lacking the complexity that could truly make him compelling. All he does is flick off the monsters and engaging in thoughtless imprudent behavior.

The new characters from the bus are basically irrelevant to the plot. What bothers me even more is how unrealistic the character's actions are. At some moments I cringe, it feels npcs or robots are talking to each other, especially Jim's family. Real humans wouldn't constantly hide secrets from each other and only reveal small details each episode. It's like they want to leave the town. For instance, Tabitha figured out where the monsters sleep at the start of season 2, six episodes goes by and kept this information from everyone. It's frustrating. When Boyd sees the ballerina doing ballet. He goes to the ballerina knowing she's evil and will cause him harm. I get this if only happened once, but he just falls for it repeatedly.

Instead of providing answers, the show continuously introduces a multitude of new questions, leaving viewers longing for resolution. Here are the current mysteries to the show (cred to "@extremerealming4975" on youtube):

1. Where are they?

2. What are the creatures?

3. What are the talismans and why do they work at repelling the creatures?

4. Who is the boy in white?

5. Why are the trees moving?

6. What does the symbol Jade keeps seeing mean?

7. What is everything Victor knows?

8. What/who was communicating with Sera?

9. Why did they want Sera to kill the boy?

10. Where does the power come from?

11. Why does the jukebox turn on randomly?

12. Where did the storm come from?

13. Who did they contact with the radio tower?

14. Why did the radio tower contact know Jim's name?

15. Why did the radio tower contact know his wife was digging for the power?

16. Why did the house collapse?

17. What is everything down in the tunnels below the town?

18. What knocked over the tent Boyd and Sera were in when they went out in the woods?

19. Why were there giant spiderwebs and giant spiders out in the woods?

20. What do the spider bites do?

21. Who are the children that Jim's wife keeps seeing?

22. What is the deal with the lighthouse Boyd and Sera saw?

23. How exactly do the faraway trees work and how many are there?

24. Where did Boyd go after he went through the faraway tree?

25. How did the person chained up throw the rope down to Boyd?

26. Who was the person chained up?

27. How long was the person chained up?

28. Who/what chained the person up?

29. Who is he warning Boyd about?

30. How did he know Abby's name?

31. Why did he put his blood into Boyd's?

32. Why are there worms crawling under Boyd's skin?

33. What was the music box in the room?

34. Where did the room go after Boyd went through the door?

35. What were the different dates written on the staircase below Jim's basement?

36. Why did Elgin have a vision? What were Elgins visions?

37. Why do they keep getting food and livestock in the woods?

38. Why are they now running out of food?

39. Who was the man who saw the symbol before Jade?

40. Why do the creatures only walk, why do they smile?

41. What is "worse" than the creatures as the person in the room Boyd found describes?

I'll honestly be surprise if the show make comeback, but I don't see this happening.

Slow becoming average
valentinionut28 May 2023
I have watched the serie from the day first episode aired. I was intrigued by its plot and wanted to see more.

The whole first season was unfolding in a good pace, the thrill and the mistery were there to serve the plot.

Season 2, instead, does not deliver.

Slowly, the fiction turn into drama. This is the nightmare for a sci fi, fantasy serie. The characters play it is meant to deliver the punch IN THE GENRE not in adiacent sub plots who turned out to be (no surprise.) drama for most of them because it the most easy one to write AS A FILLER! Comedy is hard. No one dares to make a filler with comedy.

So, my opinion is thta this season 2 is a cheap trick to a filler.

Low, very low.

It get a little boring and predictable, drama-like
theowlcrew29 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Another accidentally knife stabbing, really? You can not think something better then this. Probably the worst episode in the whole show. Especially this thing with blood.

I really like "From", its one of my favorite show from the last year. So hope things will getting better. Harold Perrineau acting is really great. I really miss the scientist and mystery elements from first season. As someone mention here, its look more like drama then anything else.

Last 3 episodes - Really bad, my opinion. Will see if something gonna change. Few more episodes to go. Some characters don't have enough time in the show.
