The upset against Microsoft’s Xbox continues to grow every day as the company is seemingly putting in less effort than ever on damage controlling the entire situation. Since it was revealed that 4 beloved gaming studios have been shut down after they were recently acquired by the company, they have been unfortunately delivering statements that while given in good faith, end up coming off as hypocritical.
Microsoft has got rid of 4 beloved game studios
This time around, it is none other than Sarah Bond, the President of Xbox herself, who has directly remarked about the company choosing to shut down the four gaming studios. She has revealed what exactly was the motive behind taking such a step, and why it was deemed necessary at this point.

Saying Phil Spencer is one of the most disliked people in the gaming community wouldn’t be too much of a stretch currently. Xbox’s decision to shut down multiple beloved studios in a single day, has brought out the wrath of consumers from all corners of the community.
Tango Gameworks, one of the affected studios, was especially beloved by many gamers, as some of its staff were revered creatives in the industry. As players discover more about the faces behind Tango, their anger for Microsoft’s gaming brand only grows.
Xbox Lost Talented Creatives with Tango’s Closure
Phil Spencer isn’t winning any favors as gamers look at Tango’s staff’s credentials.
It was a sad day for many when an e-mail announcement from Xbox head Matt Booty was sent out to a ton of studio staff, stating that Tango Gameworks, Arkane Austin, and Alpha Dog Games (Mighty Doom) would be closed.

It’s a known fact that mass layoffs have been plaguing the gaming landscape for the past year and a half. We’ve seen thousands of developers lose their jobs in 2023, and the trend has continued well into 2024. Even within the last week, we saw Xbox shutting down Tango Gameworks despite the studio delivering successful titles such as Hi-Fi Rush. The unsettling trend has gamers and developers alike concerned about the future of their beloved games and studios.
Unfortunately, Ci Games, the publisher behind Lords of The Fallen Franchise, has joined the list of affected studios, with 30 employees laid off from its production teams. As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, Ci Games has stated these layoffs will be the “final targeted round of redundancies,” allowing the studio to reach maximum efficiency with its strategic priorities. According to the studio, the employees will be supported throughout the layoff process over the upcoming weeks.

Shift Up’s first console title, Stellar Blade, is off to an excellent start. The action-adventure title has gained lots of critical acclaim for its combat, challenging bosses, and polished launch experience on PS5

The recent closure of multiple Xbox studios, including the critically acclaimed Tango Gameworks, developer of 2023’s beloved Hi-Fi Rush, has leveled an unprecedented amount of outrage towards Microsoft from the games industry at large.
However, what made it worse was the trillion-dollar company’s executives internally telling development teams that they want “smaller games” that bring “prestige and awards” to the company, right after shuttering those four studios. Here’s why this extraneous pursuit will lead to even more studio closures within Xbox.
Xbox’s Demands Go Against Its Actions
Xbox had one prestigious game that accrued lots of awards, and it proceeded to shut down the studio that made it.
Over the past few years, Xbox has been on a spending spree of close to $100 billion. The platform holder has acquired extremely famous names in the industry like Blizzard, Bethesda, Activision, id Software, and many more. Xbox claimed that...

While many would have thought the need to do the same would not be arising any time soon, it seems Microsoft has forced the hands of gamers, with players having a more positive way to protest this time around.
Helldivers 2 players celebrate the end of their battle with some creative compositions

There’s a lot to criticize in games like Call of Duty, but one of the most enduring complaints is the lack of originality across the titles. At this point, the series is becoming a new iteration of the same multiplayer experience, with a single-player campaign tacked on.
Unfortunately, it seems Xbox might prefer titles such as these, which create a higher impact (revenue), as opposed to smaller projects. The shutting down of various Bethesda might be a sign that the company wants to direct its resources to titles that directly improve its bottom line.

The past week has been one of the most interesting set of few days that gamers got to witness this year. Not only the PC gaming community was able to put a stop to one of the most controversial moves ever made by Sony, but Microsoft has announced how it is closing down several beloved game studios, putting many fans in disbelief.
Microsoft is shutting down 4 game studios
One of the studios shut down during the lay-off was Tango Gameworks, who were responsible for the famous Hi-Fi Rush title. What makes the situation more infuriating for fans is how a remark made by one of the heads implies there is a need for more games like the one stated here, just a day after choosing to put an end to its developing studio.

The recent shutting down of four development studios under Microsoft Gaming has shocked the world even after its historic merger deal of $76 billion with Activision Blizzard and ZeniMax, aka Bethesda. Those were Tango Gameworks, Arcane Austin, Alpha Dog Games, and Roundhouse Studios. All these studios were a part of ZeniMax Media, which is again a subsidiary company of Xbox Game Studios.
However, all these titles were doing pretty well. Arkane Austin’s Redfall might not have been the best co-op game recently, but the success of Tango Gamework’s Hi-Fi Rush and The Evil Within is evident in front of us. So, why did Microsoft have to take this harsh decision?
Activision Blizzard is Inadvertently Part of the Reason for the Studio Closures
Xbox President Matt Booty explains the reason for this huge decision.
As per Bloomberg.com, the real reason behind the axing of these studios was the hiring of new people.

Xbox caught a storm of flak from the games industry over a very recent wave of studio closures, as it shuttered four Bethesda studios, with Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin being particularly harsh blows.
While Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has yet to make a public statement about the closures, a 2023 quote from the executive makes them all the more hypocritical, leading to him receiving a fair amount of ridicule on social media.

In the wake of Microsoft’s decision to close Arkane Austin, the co-director of Redfall, Harvey Smith, has written about the studio’s achievements.

Evidently still processing the decision, Harvey Smith, the co-director of Redfall, has taken to Twitter to write a lengthy post on the studio’s history and achievements. It places a movingly human angle on a cold business decision – and emphasises just how sudden the announcement was.

The gaming community is currently mourning the closure of two Xbox-owned studios, Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks. Tango was most well-known for the exceptional indie title Hi-Fi Rush, while the former is infamously known for the disastrous Redfall and the underrated Prey.

Xbox’s strategy for the ongoing generation seems pretty clear: take two steps forward, jump ten steps back. From the lack of exclusive titles, bringing the few that remain onto its direct competitor, presenting plans of going completely digital, to causing a lot of confusion among its supporters, most have no idea what’s in store for the company’s future.
However, it seems as though Xbox hasn’t had enough of dragging itself through the mud, as right after dissolving 4 of its most prominent studios, including Arkane and Tango Gameworks, the company proceeds to announce a fire-red variant of its controller. Talk about being tone-deaf.

It has been a rough few days for the gaming community as games like Helldivers 2 take a massive hit with a review bomb to show Sony that gamers won’t accept their silly account linking policy, while Microsoft jumps on the bad news bandwagon by closing down 4 different studios all at once.
These four different studios have all created different games that have sadly had a rough time in terms of sales and attention-getting, except for Hi-Fi Rush. These studios are Arkane Austin, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog Games, and Roundhouse Games, which were all in charge of releasing a few games that sadly fell through.
After this recent announcement, Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Johan Pilestedt released a tweet commenting on the recent news, but sadly, it didn’t go the way he planned.

The gaming industry is going through a very tough time. News of layoffs and studio closures are getting far too common, with reports of Take-Two shutting down Rollerdrome developer Roll7 going public just a few days ago, and Deliver Us Mars developer KeokeN also laying off its entire team.
Now, it’s been devastatingly discovered that Xbox has shuttered four studios under the Bethesda umbrella, with one of them having delivered arguably the best Xbox game in recent years.
Hi-Fi Rush Developer Tango Gameworks Closed By Xbox
Tango’s delightful rhythm brawler will never be continued, and that’s a certifiable disappointment.
IGN first reported on the news, as they received a copy of an official email that announced Xbox will be closing down Arkane Austin, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog, and Roundhouse Games. The platform holder acquired these studios as part of the $7.5B Zenimax acquisition in 2021.

Jason Schreier, a popular journalist, has just reported that Xbox will be shutting down two major studios that are part of Bethesda. The creators of The Evil Within, Hi-Fi Rush, and Ghostwire Tokyo, Tango Gameworks, will be shutting down. At first, this studio had Shinji Mikami as director.
Arkane Austin will also be closing down. This studio was behind one of the biggest failures in recent years, the co-op PvE called Redfall, which almost had no players at launch. Two additional studios will face dismantling due to their underperformance.

As far as Alex Lifeson is concerned, the band to which he devoted five decades of his life is over, but that doesn’t mean he’s done as a musician. The former Rush guitarist is hard at work on new music in his well-stocked home studio, recording guitar parts for the second album by Envy of None, the band he co-founded in 2021 with bassist Andy Curran (formerly of the Canadian rock band Coney Hatch), keyboardist/guitarist Alfio Annibalini, and the talented 27-year-old vocalist Maiah Wynne. He’s also started his own custom equipment company,...

The story of the rivalry between F1 aces James Hunt and Niki Lauda is given a glossy big screen retelling in Ron Howard's film. Written by Peter Morgan, it's no surprise that the writer of Frost/Nixon and The Queen puts psychology to the fore and amps up the win-at-any-costs mentality of Lauda, in particular - something that led the driver to have a horrific accident. Howard's action on the racing circuit does the job but it's Lauda's battle back from the accident that really holds the interest and Daniel Bruhl, who can be a bit hit and miss in terms of performances, is on the top of his game as the driven Austrian. Chris Hemsworth puts in a solid supporting performance, although he mainly leans into the established playboy image of the English sportsman.

Without question, one of the most anticipated movies of the summer is "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga." Serving as a prequel to 2015's action masterpiece "Mad Max: Fury Road," director George Miller is finally back nearly a decade later to deliver the long-promised fifth entry in his legendary franchise. This time around, we have a familiar hero in Furiosa, now played by Anya Taylor-Joy ("The Queen's Gambit"), facing off against a new villain in Dementus, played by Chris Hemsworth ("Thor"). For Hemsworth, in particular, playing the villain in the latest "Mad Max" film was a scary prospect.
In a new cover story for Entertainment Weekly, Hemsworth revealed that he felt some trepidation in taking on the role. The actor, who has played Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for nearly 15 years, explained that it "scared the s*** out of me." Why would one of the biggest stars in the world...

Stellar Blade was fated for success even before release, and April has only proved that. While there were a ton of controversies regarding its protagonist, issues around censorship, and a lot of frenzied discourse in general, the game’s Metacritic scores show that underneath all of that, it’s a game worth a shot.
However, since its release, there’s been one aspect of the game that many feel is missing, and according to Shift Up’s CEO, Hyung-Tae Kim, it might not be a ‘missing’ feature for soon.
Stellar Blade Desperately Needs This One Mode From Miyazaki’s Games
Stellar Blade’s combat is a Usp, so why not highlight it through a mode dedicated to that?
After the game was released, Shift Up added ‘New Game+’, which transfers existing data after the ending into a new save, so you can keep all your acquired skills and outfits. That...

Chris Hemsworth is one of the most respected and well-known faces in Hollywood. Through his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as the Extraction films, he has gained a lot of attention in the film industry. Despite this, there is one fact that is undeniable; he has not been seen in many challenging roles for him as an actor.
Chris Hemsworth in Thor: The Dark World
While the characters that he played certainly require a huge level of physical dedication, his emotional range has rarely been taken out for a spin by directors. This is a fact that seems to bother the actor, as he spoke about it during a recent interview.
It would seem that there was one movie that Hemsworth thought would change his image in Hollywood. Unfortunately, this was not the case.

Chris Hemsworth doesn’t have a whole lot of love for “Thor: Love and Thunder,” but he’s got some thunder.
The actor told Vanity Fair that he feels like he “became a parody” of himself, and “didn’t stick the landing” to presumably cap off his tenure as the titular Marvel superhero.
“I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” Hemsworth said. “I didn’t stick the landing.”
That won’t be a problem with his next film. Hemsworth is set to star in George Miller’s “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” which will premiere at Cannes. He explained that the role is something like what he has been waiting exactly a decade for, and exemplifies his acting skills beyond just action-stardom.
Hemsworth hasn’t felt this way about a role since he played against-type for director Ron Howard in 2013’s “Rush.

Chris Hemsworth graces the cover of Vanity Fair’s May 2024 issue, where he revealed that he feels Marvel fans deserve another “Thor” movie after the whiff that was 2022’s “Thor: Love and Thunder.” The actor already admitted to GQ last year that his fourth standalone “Thor” movie was “too silly” for its own good, but the misstep appears to continue to haunt him.
“I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” Hemsworth told Vanity Fair. “I didn’t stick the landing.”
While Hemsworth has always been grateful for his career-defining role as Thor, he admitted to the publication that he grew frustrated with the character while playing him in four standalone Marvel films and additional “Avengers” movies.
“Sometimes I felt like a security guard for the team,” Hemsworth said. “I would read everyone else’s lines, and go, ‘Oh, they got way cooler stuff.

The Xbox brand is in a confusing spot at the moment. With so many Xbox exclusives like Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves moving to PlayStation, there are few titles left that truly market themselves as Microsoft’s exclusive games.
However, there are quite a few titles that are yet to make their way to more platforms. From simulators to story-driven games, these are some of the best Xbox exclusives that should come to PlayStation at some point in the future.
5. Microsoft Flight Simulator Sky’s really not the limit in this one.
There’s a subtle sense of meditation and solace found in all the times you decide to cruise above Earth’s surface, around 32,000 feet high up in the sky. Microsoft has started an initiative that will allow Xbox games to be played on rival platforms like the Nintendo Switch, and Sony’s PlayStation, and among the first batch of titles is Hi-Fi Rush. The game was developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks which is now owned by Microsoft, thus making every future project an Xbox exclusive, however, Microsoft isn’t interested in gatekeeping games on either PC or their flagship console anymore.
Games should be played on any platform, regardless of whatever console a player has. Helldivers 2 has been a remarkable success, with millions of players playing the game and fighting for democracy against the Terminids and Automatons. The game has received rave reviews from fans and critics alike and has been praised for several things, including avoiding microtransactions.
The fight for democracy is well underway, with Helldivers taking on aliens, but it turns out they’re not alone because Marvel’s Spider-Man has also been confirmed to be in the game. But there’s a catch, as it’s not Spider-Man exactly, but the popular voice actor Yuri Lowenthal, who voices in the game.

PlayStation vs. Xbox is a long-running battle in the gaming fraternity. Sometimes the former edges past with its huge exclusive titles, and sometimes the latter touches the line with its exciting Game Pass library. Amidst this battle, fans are in awe that an Xbox first-party title is right now reigning the charts, in the name of Sea of Thieves.
In February, Microsoft announced that many of their first-party titles would be going cross-platform. To begin this journey, four titles were selected; one of them was the open-world pirate ship adventure title from Rare. Scheduled to be available on April 30, 2024, Sea of Thieves currently sits at the top of the list of best-selling pre-orders on the PlayStation Network in the United States. So, is this the beginning of Xbox’s dominance over their archrival’s arena?

Helldivers 2, the co-op shooter from Arrowhead Game Studios, has been out for over a month, but the hype around it is still how it was on day one. The game is only available for PlayStation 5 and PC, but Xbox players are begging the developer to launch on the platform.
Although that doesn’t seem to be happening for now, Microsoft’s first-party games releasing on PlayStation make it worth considering that the game could come to the platform. However, regardless of whether Helldivers 2 releases on Microsoft’s platform or not, the previously rumored Starfield might not be coming to PS5.
Starfield Might Not Come to PlayStation 5
Starfield may not be coming to PlayStation 5 after all.
There were several reports in early February 2024 that several of its games would be going third-party and exclusive titles may come to PlayStation and Nintendo. The rumored games included Starfield, Sea of Thieves, Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush,...

Spring update for The Lost Crown will add a new Boss Rush mode. Going by the name, I’m guessing it’ll test players’ combat skills against multiple bosses consecutively.
