Child of God
Written by James Franco, Vince Jolivette, and Cormac McCarthy
Directed by James Franco
USA, 2013
Many artists share their beauty with the world. They know what they want, they follow their hearts, and they proudly display their work for all to see. To call James Franco an artist is fairly appropriate. He has a unique style from his acting to his directing to his writing. The man definitely has a lot to say because it seems as though he’s somehow involved with every movie that gets released these days. His latest film Child of God (which he directed and co-stars in) is a dark and very disturbing look at a man living on the edge, and on the brink of absolute madness.
Child of God follows Lester Ballard, a mentally unstable drifter who roams the woods of rural 1960s Tennessee. He is played eerily brilliant by Scott Haze (Post,...

Just seen an ad for new Revenge - when is it back on?
Good news - you'll barely have had time to recover from your New Year hangover by the time Revenge is back on the box. Yes, Emily Van Camp will be vamping on E4 once more from - make a note - Monday, January 6.
The new episodes - which see Smallville veteran Justin Hartley join the cast - are a bit of a form to return after a muddled second season too, with the Initiative consigned to the garbage and plenty of exciting plot twists in the premiere alone.

The Tomorrow People, Ep. 1.06, “Sorry for Your Loss”: Focused approach delivers effective, strong ep
The Tomorrow People, Season 1, Episode 6, “Sorry for Your Loss”
Written by Jeff Rake and Utarnachitt
Directed by Nathan Hope
Airs Wednesdays at 9pm Et on the CW
The Tomorrow People continues on its upward trajectory this week with a more or less successful episode. “Sorry for Your Loss” is far from flawless, but it demonstrates a continued prioritization of character that has served the series well. This week Russell is in the spotlight, as we get our first glimpse of his backstory. The Asian teen forced into serious musical study by domineering, strict parents is far from original (had Russell studied violin instead of piano, it may have tipped too fully into stereotyping), but Aaron Yoo for the most part makes it work, selling the emotion of Russell’s journey. He also does a surprisingly good job fake-playing the piano, a rarity on television, thanks to some effective and comparatively subtle editing.

The Tomorrow People Season 1, Episode 4, “Kill or Be Killed”
Written by Nicholas Wootton and Alex Katsnelson
Directed by Guy Bee
Airs Wednesdays at 9pm Est on the CW
The Tomorrow People has been off to a rocky start, retreading tired genre tropes rather than developing its characters. This week, the show tries to change that by focusing in on John’s back story and in some ways, it works. Unfortunately, the episode wastes its time on exposition, splitting its focus between too many characters and wasting genre-favorite guest star Jason Dohring in the process.
Much of “Kill or Be Killed” is spent telling, rather than showing. We’re told John and Killian were close. We’re told they came up together and fought side-by-side. We’re told Killian is dangerous, that he went off the deep end when subjected to extreme drug therapy and started bombing random targets, looking for some twisted kind of revenge.

When "Glee" dedicates a Season 5 episode to a memorial for Cory Monteith, one pivotal person will be missing. Dianna Agron, the actress who has played Quinn since the show's premiere, was not invited to return for episode 3 of the new season.
She quite possibly won't return at all for Season 5.
The news comes from an interview with the New York Post in which Agron discusses upcoming projects in addition to the "Glee" topics. That interview makes it clear that the actress was crushed by the news of Monteith's unexpected death from an accidental drug overdose.
"This year, I've had some of the biggest cries of my entire life," Agron said. "It hasn't completely hit in yet. It's one of the strangest things that has ever happened to me ... Dianna Agron was not asked back for the "Glee" tribute episode to Cory Monteith, according to the New York Post.
In an interview with the Post promoting her new movie "The Family," Agron said she's unsure whether she'll return to the show at all this season. Following her character Quinn's graduation in "Glee" Season 3, Agron only appeared in a handful of Season 4 episodes and was not listed as a series regular. "I think moving on might be the wrong choice of words because ["Glee"] is always going to be a part of me and with me and I would always go back," she said. "So it’s not necessarily about a departure. It’s about what it's imparted in me and what it's given me."
Original "Glee" cast members Amber Riley, Mark Salling and Jayma Mays are all returning for the tribute episode dedicated to Monteith and his character Finn Hudson.

Critics weren't exactly easy on the first season of NBC's "Revolution," and it turns out that series creator Eric Kripke was the biggest critic of them all.
"I'm harder on the show than any human being ... as I was watching the second half of the season, I was like, 'Huh, there's a lot of power on this show without power,'" Kripke admitted to io9 at San Diego Comic-Con 2013 of the post-apocaylptic series, which centers on a worldwide blackout.
Although "Revolution" saw solid ratings at the start of Season 1, bringing in 11.7 million viewers in its September premiere and eventually averaging about 6 million viewers, Kripke promises Season 2 will be better.
"If last season was about war, this season is more about mystery. I still give answers. I still unfold things at a nice healthy clip, but I really wanted to push through," he added to io9. "My headline is: I'm out...

Is Heather Morris leaving "Glee"?
The actress, who first signed on as Brittany S. Pierce in Season 1 of the Fox musical dramedy just to do a dance to Beyonce's "Single Ladies" with Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz), does not have a deal for Season 5 of "Glee, according to The Hollywood Reporter. But E! News reports that Morris is not alone: None of the "Glee" stars have Season 5 contracts yet.
Do not read on if you have not yet seen the Season 4 finale of "Glee," titled "All or Nothing."
The "Glee" Season 4 finale saw Brittany leave McKinley High before the year was over after being granted early admission to MIT. Even before the April 11th installment of "Glee" aired, there was controversy. And Lauren Potter, who plays Becky Jackson, can't say she didn't see it coming.
Nearly halfway into the episode -- which had a Newtown, Ct victims advocacy group urging "Glee" fans not to watch at all -- the New Directions heard gunshots in the hallways and locked themselves in the choir room. The space that was last filled with Barry Manilow's "Copacabana" and the zig-ah-zig-ah's of the Spice Girls was dark, silent and filled with tears.
Eventually, the McKinley High students were released and shortly thereafter, the audience learned that Sue Sylvester's favorite Cheerio and the ultimate sassy sidekick, Becky Jackson, was the one who brought the weapon to school.

"Revolution" returns to NBC on Monday, March 25 (10 p.m. Et) and when we last saw our scrappy band of rebels, they were staring down the barrel of a machine gun mounted on a freshly powered helicopter, a very persuasive symbol of the despotic Sebastian Monroe's (David Lyons) dominance.
The Huffington Post caught up with series creator Eric Kripke in January to find out what we can expect from the show's midseason premiere, how our heroes will react to the addition of Rachel (Elizabeth Mitchell) in the group, which "Supernatural" alums Kripke intends to draft into his new show and why what's to come will "make people cry."
What can you preview about the second half of the season?
I would say in the second half of the season, the revolution really begins. We really explain why the show's title is the show's title. I think it’s just bigger and better and badder.

Taylor Lautner says that one thing he won't miss about making the Twilight movies is taking off his shirt, which seems a pity, since it's his top talent. "One, when we film these movies in like horrendous weather conditions and in the books it's always suppose to be cold and gloomy and the sun can never be out so that's not fun. And then the second thing is, I'm always the only person with my shirt off, so...I wish just everybody could, you know, do it once and then you know, it would make me feel more comfortable."

Supernatural Review, Season 7, Episode 17: “The Born-Again Identity”
Written by Sera Gamble
Directed by Robert Singer
Airs Fridays at 9pm (Et) on the CW
This week, on Supernatural: Even Lucifer can’t keep Sam from solving One More Case, and Dean runs into two blasts from his past
Cas is back. Sorta. Well, briefly. As ever in genre fiction, don’t believe someone’s dead until you’ve seen the body (and even then it’s not always a done deal). Most fans knew this episode was coming, the Return of Castiel. It’s felt inevitable for a while. With Sam and Dean out of allies, Sam’s wall crumbling, Dean still unable to move beyond Cas’s betrayal, and no hope in sight for fighting the Leviathans, something had to give. Sam has been, for all intents and purposes, healed and restored from his trip to the Cage and hopefully,...

Supernatural Review, Season 7, Episode 15: “Repo Man”
Written by Ben Edlund
Directed by Thomas J. Wright
Airs Fridays at 9pm (Et) on the CW
This week, on Supernatural: Jeffrey plays with his puppy while Lucifer plays with Sam
This season, and last season, Supernatural has only found significant success with its comedic standalones. Certain character through-lines have been well executed, but on a whole, the series has been at its best when going for the laugh. This episode brings a welcome return to the Supernatural of yore, eschewing humor in favor of good, old-fashioned scares.
It’s telling that, to achieve this, writer Ben Edlund takes the characters (and audience) back to season 4, with an extended flashback sequence set during Sam and Dean’s search for Lillith. If any proof were needed that the Leviathans haven’t really worked, it’s this episode- a demon is more interesting and terrifying than they are.

Damian McGinty must have the luck of the Irish on his side, because he's having the best year ever. After winning Oxygen's "The Glee Project" this summer, McGinty, a 19-year-old from Northern Ireland, received a seven-episode guest starring arc on Fox's musical comedy "Glee." His debut episode, "Pot O' Gold," premieres on Tuesday at 8 p.m. Est on Fox.
The Irish teenager not only has two solo performances in the episode, he's also going to be spending some quality time with our favorite gleeks as the New Directions newest addition.
McGinty also has a surprising solo on Glee: The Music, The Christmas Album, vol. 2, some intimate scenes with "Glee's" lovable airhead Brittany (Heather Morris) and a budding bromance with glee club leader Finn (Cory Monteith) -- he's also been getting to hang out with the entire "Glee" cast off set. Yep, it's official. McGinty is having the best year ever.

There's something inherently refreshing about sitting on the East balcony at the Driskill right before the first scheduled event of Aff. Despite the occasional smoker, and the incessant clanking of metal on metal in a nearby alley that's closed for construction, the cool breeze makes it a perfect Austin day.
Checking out the other balcony to see if it had fewer smokers (it did), I happened upon the front-runner for best film marketing at a fest this year. The Upright Citizens Brigade had "protestors" out at Sixth and Brazos warning about the dangers of Freak Dancing. Freak Dance screens Friday night at Acc.
For the first time I actually made it to the Opening Remarks kickoff of Austin Film Festival. I was surprised to hear that the Polly Platt tribute and special screening of Bottle Rocket on Saturday was cancelled. Apparently it's been replaced by James Franco's Sal. And...

Looks like it's not too far off for Heather Morris to be playing Brittany on Glee. In Seventeen magazine's upcoming November issue, the actress admits to experimenting with the ladies way before the Fox series and not minding it one bit.
She kissed some girls "Mostly for guys' attention when I was in high school. One time I did it when I was curious with a friend, but she wasn't my best friend."
So I guess she had nothing to be nervous about when kissing Naya Rivera.
Here's a look on other topics she detailed on in the magazine:
On Boys
"I had a serious boyfriend in high school, but we would take breaks in between. You shouldn't always have a boyfriend!"
On Dancing Alongside Beyonce
"There were ten dancers--four guys and six girls--including me, on the Beyonce tour. Sometimes we would go out with her, to events. She was really normal--just like everybody else!

Supernatural Review, Season 7, Episode 1: “Meet the New Boss”
Written by Sera Gamble
Directed by Phil Sgriccia
Airs Fridays at 9pm (Et) on the CW
This week, on Supernatural: Cas does some stained glass work, as well as some smiting, Dean shows once again that he’s not the brightest bulb, Sam has a fun new imaginary friend, and Death has some tasty pickle chips
Supernatural is an interesting show. It’s the only example that comes to mind of a series that began with a set beginning, middle, and end planned out, executed that arc as planned, and then continued. Babylon 5 had a complicated cancellation/renewal period at the end of its arc, but Supernatural is now two seasons beyond its set end point. Season five ended with a fantastic finale, for the most part, but season six struggled. Though some lay blame at the feet of...

As you probably know all too well, fans of "Glee" were shocked to their very core recently when show co-creator Ryan Murphy announced that stars Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith would soon face the bane of all high school dramas: Graduation. Luckily, he later backtracked, but it got us thinking: What's going to happen to our favorite "Glee" stars after their time on TV is done?
To celebrate the upcoming release of "Glee: The 3D Concert Movie" on Aug. 12, then, we've decided to ask you guys which "Glee" cast member you think going to have the biggest film career once the music stops. Will it be Michele? Colfer? Dianna Agron? Or some other surprise pick?
Furthermore, who will have the biggest music career and who would win in an arm-wrestling contest?
So many questions, so little time. Thankfully, there's our ultimate "Glee" movie poll.

Chris Colfer's Kurt Hummel appears in a newly released clip from "Glee: The 3D Concert Movie". The video opens with Kurt sitting in a dressing room and dishing on Darren Criss's Blaine Anderson.
The clip also offers onstage footage where Chris asks Darren, "Do you know what's better than Kurt and Blaine?" As Blaine replies that he doesn't know what it is, Kurt excitedly enthused, "Kurt and Blaine in 3D!"
On the TV series, Blaine is an openly gay lead singer of New Directions' rival, Dalton Academy Warblers. His chemistry with Kurt then turns into a romantic linkage. Their same sex relationship has received compliments from critics. New York Post, for instance, dubs Kurt and Blaine as "one of the most beloved TV couples of the millennium" back in April.
