Violence & Gore

  • As it is a fighting game, there is a high level of action/violence involved.
  • Contains a considerable amount of violence and gore for a T-rated fighting game.
  • Powerful attacks will bring copious amounts of bloodshed, particularly bites and horn strikes.
  • Fatalities/finishing moves are very graphic in nature and feature depictions of degutting, dismemberment, complete immolation down to a burned skeleton, flesh eating and petrification. Some of these fatalities are incredibly bloody in approach.
  • Chaos' "Golden Shower" fatality is considered one of the most infamous and controversial in the entire game, if not fighting games in general; he unleashes a stream of acidic urine that melts the flesh off his defeated opponent. It is considered so shocking that a few home ports of the game had to be removed from stores like Toys R' Us and edited in order to take it out completely (the Super NES port, for instance, had this happen).
  • The player can eat the opposing combatant's followers, some of them featuring blood and gore (the Blizzard character will spit out a follower's bones upon eating them).

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The game's story begins with a devastating meteor strike that hits the Earth and causes the complete and utter destruction of society and technology, reducing mankind to a very primitive state. Such a dystopian future can be a rather scary thought for some.
  • Chaos is a very disgusting character, attacking his foes with projectile vomit and farting. And let's not forget the aforementioned "Golden Shower"...
  • Many parents and a few parental groups have objected strongly to the level of violence and gore the game contains, particularly it being rated "T for Teen" (it may have been given a lower rating due to the fact that the combatants are large dinosaurs and apes rather than human beings).
